Hi guys, Anyone done a tail chop on your monsters? cutting the frame, removing the beer tray. thinking of doing it but i am guessing inspection is going to be an issue.

 

Just seeing if anyone has done it before and actually passed inspection!?

There are a number of Monster with the tail chop and there are also many owners who want to do a reverse tail chop and restore it to it's original. Besides the legality issues, as the Monster ages gracefully, there is a higher emphasis on ORIGINAL bikes that has not been molested with a tail chop.

 

My 2cents advise is not to do the tail chop.

most monsters from cagiva year have thier TC.

after that no more cause rear end looks quite presentable lik J-LO

rear or front?

 

rear only can use the for loop swing arm which is like pre 99 models.

 

front, generally, most ducati use 50mm shocks, hence most models will fit. but to find 1 that has the same axel size, caliper spacing and front fender bracket, thats involves abit of searching.

try getting ohlins rear shock for monster. Think some monster 900 had it. Very good and very expensive. Near to 2k i think from Looi Motor

not demoralising at all, once with a group of supersports bikes, they cruised all the way at abt 220-240 for an hr between fuel stops.

 

compared to 150km/h, they covered 70km more every hr, for a 888km trip to phuket, it makes alot of difference!!
