frankly i never considered any other bike as the monster except for the M900, which is the original monster.

the M4 is just produced to capture the small cc market. definitely not worthy of the Monster tag.

dont mean to offend but my sentiments

Well, for those of us who only have a 2A licence, what other choice do we have?

I think its a very good introduction to the special world of Ducati motorcycles, although power is severely limited. Thats why I imagine the M900 would be a hellva ride.

It may be down on power, but handling, sound, feel and the overall Ducati thing is there. So why look down upon it?

Hey one and all monster-lovers and appreciators. As Neo as said I am now a proud owner of a yellow M4.

Vincekam>> Saw your bike (formerly known as Elmo) being serviced at Kallang cycle.

To the rest, hope to catch up with you people sometime

not looking down on the bike, lah.....wah lau eh....

basically Ducati should have kept the Monster as a 900 version so the the cult status will be stronger.

by introducing the 400cc, they basically put the Monster TM a notch lower while trying to capture the market. So I mean, the monster to me is the M9 and I personally wont recognize the M4 as a "Monster". at most "baby monster".

The M400 should have been called a different name so as to remain in a class of it's own. Basically ducati just took the easy way out. They capitalized on the strong following of the Monster and plugged in the 400, 600 etc...that is a very Japanese thing to do.

imagine harley Fatboy has a 750cc version....that's what i mean.

M4 in itself---nothing wrong...

I think that there are differences in some dimensions perhaps.

engine and brakes are most significant parts of any vehicle anyway.

swop that and you have a different machine altogether

just like the BMW 3 series.........

The M400, even though its very underpowered, is still a proper Ducati. Put on a pair of Termis and you instantly get the sound.

Anyways, the M4 is a Japanese model only, small bore version of the M600 engine. Look at the number of M400 on the roads, I think they outnumber every single other Ducati tourers, superbike, supersport and multistradas out there. It is both good and bad, like what Trottle said, but I think even worse than degrading the high performance image of Ducatis is owners not taking care of their M400s. I've seen some pretty sad looking examples.

Well, I had my fun, I really enjoyed riding the bike alot, and I think its trully the best 2A streetbike money can buy (other than the newer model M400s of course, which are improved). Hope to own a more powerful Ducati in future :thumb:

Neo, cheaper of course got more on the roads lah....

anyway, i'm not really into Ducatis.

just wanted an easy relax bike to ride, so pick the Monster as perhaps a "project" bike

The price is not far off the 600 actually, but I guess its popular because of its lower licence class.

Monster as a project bike? Wow... First thing you might wanna do is the 944cc overbore kit, +15hp! :thumb:

i just want to make sure that the suspension and everything else works really sharp. maybe go for custom paintwork.

forget about the ponies, no point........if i wanted horses i'll get japanese.

:faint:

well, i guess we can say that the M400 and 620 are sisters, whereas say the M900 and s4r are distant cousins.

guess we think alike, what can we do with the extra hp? its like cracking a walnut with a sledgehammer :p (no offence neo...hehe)

chrome the fueltank and the engine better, when ppl stare at your bike u get added 15 hp to your ego.....:thumb:

sorry ha, another question:

newr model M400s? is there still a 400cc market, in japan, or anywhere in the world besides singapore? Thought the license class has been scrapped in japan

Wat was it that attracted you to the Monster? Since you are not really into ducatis...

No japanese tourers or roadbikes for you?

I'd like to go, but unfortunately I have NDP parade rehearsals on Saturday, ends very late. Tired....

the Monster is a cult bike in its own.

have always liked the looks of the twin exhaust and the growl.

i will simply use it as a leisure bike, to go around town, supermarket, to the gym etc....
