Are those HArris grips?

They look nice :thumb: But after awhile (like a year or so) they turn yellow!

Handlebar should cost between $100 and $150. Get a pro-taper one, and cut off the ends otherwise it might be too wide.

Hi Neo, can you kindly advise if we will need to change the Bar Mounts?

Anybody have done a TAIL CHOP on your monster and high mount exhaust?

I'd love to have some comments before doing so.

Coz taking inches away and I might regret later for not able to put them back prior to inspection.

Came across this site that sell the kit.

Also there is a DIY instruction here:

http://speedzilla.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1711

I know I know... it's already breaking the law. Damn the laws. I don't really see what harm by taking some bits of the tail.

Cheers!

Let me know if you really keen to chop off the tail. I also Gian Gian.....

You don't need to change the bar mounts if you get a handlebar with the same diameter at the centre.

My Monster had a slightly straighter bar than the stock one, I prefer it. Maybe Vincekam can show you guys? :thumb:

I'm serious about the tail chop.

Just that I don't know where to start from yet.

Maybe will look at this fender eliminator like what nEO mention and need not cut off anything. And just drop the beer tray and fabricate a bracket for the licence plate and signal lights.

GalanteD, wanna lookout for a date and we get the material and DIY?

Cheers!

I'm always curious about where people go to service their bikes, are the shops reliable and the price reasonable? Now with the monster, I wonder if all the bike shops also know how to service ducati bikes?

I found the black handlebars at a bike shop opposite Eminent Plaza. The TAG brand with clamp is $250. Pro Taper with clamp is $290. The auntie said must buy whole set with clamp cos the size different and they will do the installation.

I also went to Ah Boy this morning, stood there for an hour and went home empty handed. The whole place is like a stock exchange market. I don't even know how or where to start. :giddy:

The place for the handle bar is called Auntie Shop. The Bars you looked at are all oversized ones. Ah Boy has been a stock exchange since day one. If you keen to go around to survey and find a decent workshop for Ducatis, feel free to look me up!

dark monster: i suggest u send yr bike for servicing at minerva...who else knows a ducati better than the guys themselves? most mechanics dun have the knowledge or in most cases equipment to service yr beloved ducati... frequent basic éngine oil changes of coz u can go to any other shop.. but for full serivicing for me i would rather pay the premium for a peice of mind. :cheer: (every 10,000km one full serivicing...tht's wad the mech recommended?...abt $750-$850)

ps; i just got my baby back today.crisper throttle/bike response...of coz maybe 10% of it is psychological

actualli the full servicing is justifiable coz they seriously replace alot stuff...like...oil+air+fuel filter...carb O ring..timing belts..brake fluid, clutch bleedin..valve adj. ...on top of every adjustment u can think of...of coz cylin. head cleanin etc etc...it\s not the 'normal' serivcing u get...of coz u can opt for the 'normal' serivicing..cost much less..maybe abt 300 i guess...but better be safe than sorry :help: !!

Interesting Monster400 ... got twin-disc and oil cooler, for a dark, even.

Cheers

Judging by the recommended service frequency, I'll have to pay at least $750 a year on top of the regular maintenance expenditure in the case I do get a Monster.

That's really very monstrous. :giddy:

Yah lor, the bike in the picture look so clean and new. Look even nicer than my bike. :weep:

If that's the actual condition maybe can consider else it over-price liao. Wonder if it is an original monster dark.

I'll be due for Class 2A next June, and I wish to upgrade to a 400cc street bike for daily commuting during my university education.

So far, it's between the Honda CB400 Super 4 and the Ducati Monster 400.

I like the looks of the Monster, and I'm keen on getting it. However, a biker friend of mine strongly advises against it. He says it'll be a financial burden.

As much as I like the Monster, I don't want to be enslaved to it.

What are your views, guys?
