constipated face : hi ..yes u are correct .$750-850 per yr(if u use it for daily commuting tht is) ....but the mech told me every 10k km send for one "FULL" servicing can already..but i usually change 'engine oil' every 4k-5k km ...

well one consolation: the pricing of 2nd hand M400's are usually cheaper than 2nd hand super4's...of coz mantainence wise u're paying 'ducati dollars' ...but i guess there's a price to pay for exclusivity?

like NEO said , a Super 4 is a faster, cheaper, easier to mantain bike relative to a M400.no arguements needed...

u got to have passion to keep a ducati !

I'll be due for Class 2A next June, and I wish to upgrade to a 400cc street bike for daily commuting during my university education.

So far, it's between the Honda CB400 Super 4 and the Ducati Monster 400.

I like the looks of the Monster, and I'm keen on getting it. However, a biker friend of mine strongly advises against it. He says it'll be a financial burden.

As much as I like the Monster, I don't want to be enslaved to it.

What are your views, guys?

Read the thread on the cost of maintaining a duke. This question had been asked and re-asked .... please do a search or scroll through the Monster thread and the answers are all there. Soem of us even posted the servicing cost.

The bottomline is: Maintain your duke regularly, cheaper in the long run. Once there is a problem, it'll cost. Slightly more ex than Super4 to maintain, parts definitely more ex. It's like an Italian sportscar and a Japanese car. Good and bad for both.

Cheers

Handlebar should cost between $100 and $150. Get a pro-taper one, and cut off the ends otherwise it might be too wide.

Monster handlebar is $90. Changed mine from the newer stainless steel one to the Aluminium one. The aluminium one will bend if you drop the bike, but it won't dent your tank. Also it has a nice metallic finish, not shiny finish.

Would recommend the Ducati grips if you like a simple thin dry grip. For comfort and thicker grips, the BMW grips are renowned.

Cheers

Here's a reply from the seller of Ducati Monster Fender Eliminator

http://www.1tail.com/sa/cart/detail.asp?pg...E-8767EC7C6721}

---------------

Hi Vince,

We do ship to Singapore but shipping is not free - free shipping is only within the continental US and will depend on the weight of how many you order - minimum of $35 extra. However, we do offer quantity discounts. For 2 or more the price will go down to $111.95 each. If you would like to proceed, order online and we will add on the shipping cost to your credit card as a separate charge.

Thanks,

Jodie

Anybody interested?

Yup ... mine was installed by Minerva about a year ago ... I've sold my duke, so can't show it to you. But I believe that Renthal bars can be fitted on dukes, and these bars have different bents. The handle will fit so long as the handle clamp can be used.

You may want to consider clip ons .... more sporty.

Cheers
