Yup dude, am going in an hour or 2...will remember to check and take pics of your baby.....the pipe is reasonably loud with the restrictors on....but nothing attention-grabbing i.e. not monster-like hehehehe....mike told me the silencers are dead easy to remove so you shouldnt have any problem. just remember to leave them in till you get your inspection cert!

 

I thought about removing the silencers but i think i will leave them in...sigh....i guess i'm a little afraid to get caught..i mean, i'd rather spend my money on some legal pipes costing 1350 than give the teepees 700 bucks which is half the cost of the new pipes and since removing the silencers makes them illegal..know what i mean? So now all i can do is lust for the sound but not have it heh heh

Bro, i ever heard from a friend that the Fines are $500 each per End Can. So as we got 2 end cans which will cost $1000 instead of $700.

despairmonster: i went down KC yest(26/01) to change both my tires.... i cannot confirm whether yr bike is in the "EXACT SAME" state as it was before...but it looks as if it is(i think he did work on the engine tho...not too sure...coz i was just observing the major changes) .. yr pipes weren't up yet.. don't worry bro i'm sure u don't have to wait 3 1/2 yrs(of coz respect to mike coz tht m996's really a piece of art) !

 

and abt my pipe coating thingy. i'll most prob go ahead with it when i respray my monster in the nxt mth or so..

Yep, the pipes are 100% legal as confirmed verbally by the distributor and from the ECC 6 emissions markings stamped on the pipe itself. When i first got the pipes, asked my friend to ride me as pillion...no problem either, the heat was minimal although it is recommended to wear shoes if possible...there is a small risk of you brushing your toe against the (unshielded) header, but if you rest your feet out just a little, it's completely safe. Bare skin can touch the pipe with no problems at all.

Wah....that means the pipes basically paid for themselves hahaha....but i too do wonder how the harley guys get away with their pipes...

On another note, i thought i'd also mention that i'm selling my Staintune pipes if anyone here is interested.

 

They are chrome lowmounts, and round (not oval). Very unique looking. Havent seen another round can on a monster in SG before, i think it may be the only one a-round (no pun intended )

 

Pros:

1) Very attractive chrome

2) VERY VERY NICE SOUND! I havent heard Termis pipes yet but i have serious doubts that they are as loud/nice as these. These are pipes for people who want to be noticed. A sound that will put most 1000c bikes to shame, only a couple steps short of the harleys in terms of volume. Especially deafening in multistorey car parks, in between vehicles, or in HDB neighbourhoods when the sound reflects. Pedestrians in front of you will hear you from about 100m-150m in front of you in an open space at normal riding revs (no need to overrev) BUT BUT Please be considerate to your neighbours and keep the revs low at night especially if you live in HDB!

3) Lots of grunt in the low end

4) Cheap compared to brand new pipes

5) Fits all monsters i think (up to M900)

6) It is literally a 5 minute job to switch pipes if you currently use a lowmount. None of the headaches associated with installing a highmount. i Can show you how to do it. It is literally an 'unscrew, slip-on, and re-screw' type of job. So you can swap them with your stock pipes very easily if you think it may be particularly 'dangerous'

 

 

Cons:

1) The chrome may or may not suit your bike depending on it's colour. I think it will look smashing on black/red monsters, maybe not so great on yellows. But i cant be sure on this

2) Some loss of top end power. May be able to be fixed through carb rejetting

3) It is illegal, and sounds illegal. Nuff said. Very obvious that noise restrictors have been removed (i lost the silencers so i cant include them with the pipes, but even with them on, they are still illegal). I can't be responsible if you get caught!

4) Some small scrape marks on the right pipe (barely noticable). There is a small dimple on the top of one of the pipes too but i think this one can be fixed easily. Neither of these 2 cosmetic flaws are visible to casual lookers, definitely not when the bike is in motion.

oh while uncle sam's screwing you for yr pipes(double damage coz we hav twin pipes) , he might check out yr other illegal stuff too...maybe yr illegal light bulbs. tinted visor... no PSB helmet sticker etc etc...oh what a wonderful city sg is !!!

 

btw i got a dumb Q to ask... is there anyway to make already illegal pipes(termis carbon) any louder? hehe just asking coz my neighbour has a harley so ermm yea..

Pro Dero,

I changed SPEEDO HUB DRIVE, not speedometer. It cost $72 excluding labour (not at Minerva). I also changed the speedo cable + housing. I've posted all these previously. How come yours cost so much? Did you fix it at Minerva?

9am : small bikes pump petrol at machap, big bikes proceed to pagoh

 

9:15am : small bikes to depart from machap to pagoh.

 

10am : all bikes to arrive at pagoh. top up petrol.

 

10.30am : all bikes to depart for seremban

 

12noon : all bikes to arrive at seremban. top up again

 

12.30pm : all bikes to depart for hotel

 

2pm : all bikes to arrive in hotel, check in . R&R

aniway while riding today my bike threw her first tantrum at me...was riding then suddenly all electricals includ. my tacho stoppped working...sh%@..... i suspect it's the aftermarket blinkers i'm using that caused the short circuit?

The same thing happened to me. I was given the wrong fork seals, dust scrappers and speedo hub drive. I rushed down to change the parts befroe they close. I even told him clearly which year my bike was manufactured before I bought the parts. Sigh what to do .. maybe Ismail is too busy. He is the only guy in charge of parts there and I think he has to do many other misc stuff. Anyway he did apologise.

 

Everybody, ride safe man. There were 2 fatal bike accidents on the 1st day of CNY. One of the bikes is a Phantom I think. Sigh ....

hey pro dero : this was what i was mentioning in the sms..i'm thinking of getting them.. integrated LED taillights with BUILT-IN LED signals(can check the photo to get rough idea of how it works ...so u can do away with yr rear tail signals)...

 

i wanted to order online..but pleasant surprise! VECTOR ONE is the authroised dealer...i might drop by tom or sthm to check out the prices...they go for abt 160-170 according to the US$ listed on the webby .

 

the brand is CLEAR ALTERNATIVES>... alot of guys in the US use them(not only ducati guys)..so i guess that shows their product quality is up there... of coz their price is too...but i think it should be justifiable since they're such a reputable company .

 

anyone wanna get together? maybe we can bragain !

 

#p/s: they have smoked n clear ones...u can just buy the integrated board n use yr existing red rear light cover if u don't wan clear/smoked ones...check their webby they got alot options with varying prices.
