You can get the lock done at Seng Kwang. I did it for $90/side. But i heard they charge higher now. Its seems they increase for every box they do cuz their skills get "better" after each project.

As for respray, i got mine done at $80/side with Ong and Sons. You wont be able to tell that its a respray. They are pretty good. But i really suggest you dont do the respray just yet. Mine has 2 scratches now since my respray. I squeeze alot you see.... Wait for one major buang (touch wood) den do lor....

Hi, omni,

Thanks for your advices. Lock costs S$90/side, but is it still "black plastic lock with the C-shaped hook" or will it be a "metal" or some other hardier material after spending S$180? If it is metal or something harder, I don't mind paying S$180 to get my two side boxes secure.

As for the re-spray, my friends also said it will cost something around S$80/side box. One of them suggested that I can go "wrap leather" for my two side boxes for better protection. Any idea how much will it cost to "wrap leather"? Is it a good alternative?

This time round, the right side box really save my life. I will ride safer after this incident which made my "balls" nearly dropped... :giddy: It was really an experience gained from this Hatyai trip...

find 1 day meet up let me show u where is the correct center point.

cosmic00: why? why? why u leave the FJR world?

Hi, mutant_sheep,

The right exhaust has indeed bent inwards a bit closer to the rear tyre after I hit my right rear side box against the railings. I am VERY VERY lucky to be able to "fight back" my bike from skidding and survive this incident... I am going to Si Ma Lu Kwan Ying Temple to "return god" and "say my thanks" this weekend... Do enlighten me on what do you mean by "wrong center point" when we meet. I really don't know what it is.

According to one of my friends riding a Honda VFR, he said it is impossible to bent the exhaust "outwards" back to its original position cos the two pipes(right-sided) under the engine are also affected, so it will not be easy to bent the exhaust back to it original position. Also the triangular bracket holding on to the exhaust which we placed our side boxes onto the catch is also bent slightly inwards when I squat down and look at both exhausts from the rear of my bike...

Do let me know when you guys meet up for la kopi (my mobile : 98488027). I also wish to meet up with other FJR riders too... But don't laugh at me when you guys see my disfigured right side box and hear my story... I really itchy backside... I have learnt my lesson the hard way now.. Don't dare to go 240km/h liao...

By the way, just curious, anyone pillion his GF or wife coming back to SG on Tuesday night (early Wed morning)?? Heard my friends say they saw a FJR with a pillion... Just curious, nothing else...

Its metal. They will cut away your old plastic and replace with a metal piece that they fabricate themselves. Then they drill some holes around that area and rivet the lock to your box. But depending on their "form", the metal piece wont be as perfect as your original one of course.

As for the wrap around, I dunno who has done that before in this forum. I haven seen anyone with it. But i remember ebay used to sell this pannier protection thingy. However, what if someone decides to steal it?

Talking bout e FJR '07 model... Do u guys know when is e '07 model cmin out? soon  Wonder how is e specs like :lovestruck:

I saw it last week when I was in Brisbane. The Yamaha salesperson told me it'll take 5-10 minutes getting used to it.

OK, it's semi-auto, so there's no clutch and there's a switch that'll let you change between the foot gears (which is upshift) and the handswitch.

I didn't get a chance to try it 'cos I came too late. It was closing time when I reached there. :weep:

Edited to add: I dunno when it'll reach the shores of Singapore. I'll be going back to Brisbane in 6 months time. I hope it should reach Singapore by then.
