Ahh.. (this is one lengthy field report so bear with me. I'm a happy bike owner today wat :p )

Just got back from Planet moments ago.

Had this sputtering noises coming from my bike (GSXR400) these few weeks. Awful riding.

2 weeks back, I troubleshoot the problem myself and saw that one plug aint firing. Went to a shop in Alexandra to change it.

A couple of hours after riding it, the sputtering noise came back. Thought my carb setting run liao.. Sigh..

Went to Planet after being persuaded time and again by Wildcard but scared they charge me too high and I am dead broke.

So today had a chance to visit Bald Chong. He remind me of an American Eagle.

He rev rev my bike and said "of course sputtering lah. one plug down mah."

Wah not bad. First impression counts. Although I don't like his hairdo and he actually look younger and shorter in person than the photo I saw in the earlier pages, he impressed me cos he was able to guess which one is not firing just by listening, and use the spray water at header method later to confirm.

To my shock, it was the same guess as mine. It was still that earlier plug I had changed.

He recommended just change that plug again first instead of all four (other shops will tell you change all four lah).

I told him I already did that to the particular plug less than 2 weeks ago. I told him I suspected my carburettor is going haywire.

He tested the spark plug cable, then keep saying "cham liao lah!!". KNN make me scared like fog. Then he say my carb might take more than a day to service cos donnoe whats wrong also and kept rattling i spend too much money buying the bike liao.

He said today no time to do. Then he said again, "I try to tune. If can, u no need to come again tomorrow"

I thought hell why not. I am at my wits end anyways. Can't afford to spend much anymore since I lose my job and all.

He pull out the affected plug cable, look at me and pull out the cable and pretend to throw one side angrily. (i know he was joking lah so I just laugh it out)

Eventually, it was the plug cable head that went bonkers.

He charged me just $50 for changing that cable head, workmanship, two H4 headlight bulbs, changing my KNN air filter back to stock (i brought my own ok? It's not free in case u all rush down and ask to change stock air filter) and tuning my carb. (tuning the air-fuel ratio only)

Now, I feel like I am riding a tornado bike.

Super smooth. No more sputters at all. :thumb:

And all along I thought my low-beam only lights up one bulb cos I bought a pair of white light from a forumer who used it twice only.

Turns out, one of the bulb low beam filament was already blown when i bought it in the first place. :faint:

After he changed it both to brand new, for low beam both bulbs lights up. :faint:

On a sidenote, he can be quite forgetful. He forgot to put back my fuel petc0ck and didnt place back the rubber housing properly, causing the bulb to blow after I went into PIE.

So I u-turn back and he replaced it f.o.c amidst a string of grumbles. Not those kinda malicious grumbles lah, those funny type.

Overall, I got no problems with that cause he solved my problem at a very good price (if I continue D.I.Y myself to troubleshoot, confirm will cost me hundreds) and he replace back the bulb with a new one F.O.C

Wildcard's bike is ready to run also.

Thanks Chongster. :thumb:

Wah!

No wonder past few days I got a lot of PMs and SMSes asking whether I got sold my bike.

No lah. I blew a fuel pump in the bike. Getting a replacement here is too expensive and too long. I managed to get a spare from a fren in US. So waiting for the item to be shipped. Ah Chong has been gracious enough to let me store the bike there while the part is being shipped over.

Bang still saw u bike bike lying there...
