Hello there

I need some advice please.

I am intending to get a Yamaha TW200.

1. What's the difference between a 2005 & 2007 model? Would the 2007 model be coming in to Singapore? If yes, when & how much you think it would cost?

2. Apart from the Hong Leong Yamaha, where else can I get the bike?

3. I used to ride a vespa. Would TW200 have more power? I am about 48kg and my boyfriend's about 90kg. Would the bike have problems moving fast if both us were to be on the bike?

4. What is the current price of a brand new TW200 (2005)?

5. Is this the bike where I have recently noticed (or maybe it has been a trend for awhile but not noticed) that people modify it to look like a scrambler?

Many thanks in advance to anyone who had spent time reading and answering my queries :)

Cheers!

Cheryl

there's a scrambler forum somewhere in SBF, there's a thread dedicated to TWs there.

there're many kinds of vespa out there, so how do we compare? the TW is not a powerful bike for it's displacement. you could change the sprockets to give you more acceleration at the expense of top-speed, but if you really want power... i don't think the TW has oomph. it's not too little for a 150kg load, but it's not going to be very different from the vespa? everything's relative in the end, maybe you could ask in the TW thread if someone would let you test-ride it :)

the TW looks like a scrambler because it was designed like that. it's what some people call a beach-bike, something like a user-friendly dirtbike? shorter, bigger tyres, gentle power... everyone can use it. most TWs i see are modded to look less like scramblers than the other way round. the best modded TW i ever saw was this one with matt army green plastics, matt black metal, with brown leather seat. very neat.

it's a fun bike. i would love to have one if i could spare enough cash to justify a "play-bike" (mine would be modded to be more like scrambler, with handguards and such). can ride kampung and plantation roads, or go to the (malaysian of course!) beach and ride in the sand.
