SBF Honda Helix Cafe 2009

Been looking around for a Honda Helix and recently found one in a motorshop at an attractive price. Most of the bike seems to have no problem (except for some rusted parts). The only problem is that it seems to be very hard to start. It took the salesman quite a few minutes of pressing the start button and opening the throttle to start the engine. But once the engine starts, it became easier to start afterwards. But this happened both times I've visited the shop (one week apart). Does anybody know if it is a major engine problem? Or is it just some minor problem like fouled up spark plugs, carb overflow or dirty air filter?

I'm just afraid that the condition of the bike is not up to mark and I may have to spend a fortune overhauling the engine or something like that.

don't worry as long as engine is good.... the rest can still be salvage.... MArk C will be able to teaCH and enlighten you more on it.....

hmm i tot i saw these pics before.. kekekeke..

oh frankie22099, the bike maybe stay in the shop for a long time already that is why it is hard to start up. what you can do is to check the spark plug than if you managed to start it already try to ride it for long distance one time let the petrol flow through the carb.

if the problem still persist than you can proceed to change the starter.

You mention that you will want to do some overhual on the engine, actually if the engine is sound you dun have to do so, as honda engine are very lasting one.once you overhual it than have to replace the casket liao.

no active trips since 2006

bike mite not start easy maybe due to the bike sittin in the shop for a while. After riding it for a while,it allows to battery to be charged up again.try pouring fresh fuel into the tank and start again.mite help.in terms of the bike jerking,it can be due to many reasons.Go have a thorough check on the bike.the problem mite be electrical or some unknown. :cheeky:

Thanks guys. Just got my Helix today. I don't know why, but it is now able to start brilliantly. But I can't seem to get the bike past 75km/h. Anything close or above that will cause the bike to jerk violently. Any suggestions on what's the problem? Anyway, it is a sweet ride.

Hi Frankie,

Get someone to have a look at the carb, belts, and variators and seek experts advice to corret the fault.

The bike to jerk violently might due to serveral reasons like the engine mounting jam, rollers wear and tear.

go to have a thru check ASAP.
