Microsoft new technologies

Hi all

 

Been very involved in bikes and work these pass few months, going thru TP, buying new bike and riding to work etc... so no time to c c Microsoft website. Skarli take a look, wah lau, codename Orcas, Silverlight, Dlinq... anione care to enlighten me wat the hell are they? got no time to go thru the website, furthermore, my onli source of Internet, Mac's free wireless service is down, and company now spying on everyone so cannot use co. comp.

Orcas: A codename for the upcoming new Microsoft Visual Studio

 

Dlinq: Something for Microsoft SQL server...not so sure, have to look it up.

 

Silverlight: Microsoft's alternative to Adobe (formerly Macromedia) Flash.

Yup, Flash has got a competitor now.

 

I doubt the first two would be of interest to you unless you're a software developer...

Orcas is pure bloated. Pity those ppl taking comp courses, more to learn. Even Java also getting sickeningly bloated nowadays. Dlinq and the more generic Linq allow embedding SQL into code. I always thought this is stupid when Java started it, now Microsoft.... :sianz

 

Silverlight is fun! Not like Flash though, more closer to Shockwave but can program using JavaScript. The Flash thingy is MS Expression. Hope to see how good it is!
