This will be my first trip and would need some advice on what to prepare e.g. attire; bike condition; what to bring and etc. I do not have a proper raincoat, no proper jacket for long distance ride, no gloves. Emm.. I guess these are all muz, right? Anyone of the bros here can advise?

Well they are all good to and as far as possible must try to have items..

 

Basically, proper riding attire and gloves are for personal protection in case of any ... If dun have, dun really have to spend alot of money to get them.. a denim Jacket, proper jeans and a simple full finger gloves should do it.

 

As for things to bring.. raincoat is quite a must.. because you will be travelling on highway.. you don't know when it will just suddenly rain. In between each rest stop is probably 80-120km apart, if I rem correctly, to Pagoh from GP esso is about 150km, to ayer keroh another 60km.

Other items such as 1st aid kit, tools and repair kits can share if going in a group.

 

For bike condition.. Malacca isn't really far, to and fro say about 400km? slightly more than a full tank distance. S4 is quite a pretty hardy bike, if done regular servicing and maintained pretty well shouldn't have any prob crusing at 120-140km/h.

I guess I gotta get a rain wear, a jacket and gloves. Have neither these. I use a wind-breaker for daily commuting and that would probably not do.

 

My S4 juz serviced 3 weeks ago - new tires, oil and filter, so I guess it should be OK.

Its good to invest in a Raincoat esp in a tropical country like Singapore.. the weather is very unpredictable.

 

As for Jacket, its really up to personal preference. However, I believe it can really protect and minimise injuries in case of any .... Then again, there's no need to really get a very fancy and expensive one.. once torn, it cannot be used again. As long as it serve its purpose, I believe it is good enough.

 

Btw you might also want to check your brake pads if they are running out.. coolant if you need to top it up .. and maybe the chain condition.

Went to pump tyres and petrol. My 4th tank since last Friday liao! Can you imagine that?

 

Mileage at 678km.

 

Just finished off a KFC 2 piece crispy meal and cheese fries! Yummy!

Comfort zone varies from person to person. Some can survive with jus t-shirt and jeans oso can but u compromise on safety and discomfort. Ideally, a full face to reduce wind gushing, a pair of gloves(full) to protect the hands and rain, a jacket to keep warm, dirt out, smell, and also mebe light rain, army boots good enough for safety. Plus I usually use an MP3 to keep from feeling bored hehehe. Raincoat, good idea unless u dun mind getting wet and shivering. Windshield is also good to have to deflect wind hitting ur chest. As I say, some can survive without it but I find it so useful in my super long journeys at speed of 140km/h and above. Jus sharing my experience.

 

Going in convoy, is good coz all will look out for each other in case of breakdowns and other problems. Use to travel alone, quite boring. In groups, the atmosphere is different. People see u and "wow". U feel good and no one will mess with u.

 

Malacca is a good start for people to travel, not too far and not too near. I will check my calender if I could join u guys. Cheers!
