also ahpek,

my coolant has been leaking at the gear lever side, i saw from manual at FJT that there is only 2 seals over there ryte, so if buy both seals and change the leaking should stop ryte?

its only leaking when it gets hot (engine long time running). also i notice this way bike temp indicator starts to lite up quite fast.

at the moment im just continuing to top up coolant from time to time. using maxima cool aide plus add a bit water.

also coolant is there such thing as being too rich? and can wear out the seals faster especially with older model bikes? that is why need to add water to the mixture?

thanks again.

first time tune carb. maybe i feel alot of difference after tuning. lol. :cheeky:

just went Unique motorsports today for carb servicing and EO change.

Like their EO package alot. Very thoughtful of them to give each and everyone of their customer a bottle of water. I thought the carb wash and tuning was quite good. They used a digital meter to tune.

if i didn't remember wrongly the rpm for s4 will be 13 at redline.. so he wack every gear until the rpm reaches the red line..

Hmmm... that strange.. the role of a carb is to mix fuel and air into the engine,i can't see any connection that a carb will be damage when your friend abuse his engine.

By the way, there is a power cut at 13,500rpm.

any comments on tuning of carb at defu branch uniquemotors??

thanks

Should be ok bro, unique is a reputable shop. So far what i see everyday got at least 3 or 4 S4 going there for servicing. Btw anyone can help me with my question above?.

I'm using stock keihin needle right now, thinking of playing around with the needle height by increasing the shim or needle taper and also where can i get them?. What i know only dynojet and kenso jet kits allow this. Thanks.

Not "may be"...you are right..."it is" ..thanks.

Hi Ah Pek, got something to ask you... I sent my bike for carb servicing a few days ago as I never serviced it before... Asking the previous owner, he did it a long time ago.. Mine is S4 Vtec1 and already 7 yrs plus old... Went to Unique at Eunos and boy was it dirty inside! After cleaning they advised me to change the 4 valve needles for $60 as there was a fine scratch line around all 4 of them due to wear and tear. I just wanted service and tuning so I said next time. Now the ride is not the smooth anymore and much rougher than before.. Even stalled sometimes when moving off..

My questions are: Is the problem caused by the valve needles being worn out or just bad tuning? Will it disappear after a while? Is 'overflow' from carb bad for engine or just bad for fuel consumption? I dun wanna change all that if its not the problem.. The thing is I dun have a workshop that I can really trust now.. U noe I ended up paying $260 in total inclusive of other parts which they said was urgent to change when in the first place I only wanted to service n tune my carb.. Painful lesson for me...

I went to UniqueMotor a few times and i saw them keep asking me and other ppl to replace parts. ya la, new parts is good, but i don't want to change if it is still in working condition.

their service good? I doubt :dozed:

Can do it without opening carbs by doing it thru your airbox to access the inlet to carbs...a $10 service as good as carbs clearing of gums, sluge residue and dirt trapped over the years..especially choke flap area. Save you from spending $80. As for tuning, hardly those setting would run.

Wah...sorry mannn!..this is posted in January. I hardly vist this thread and sometimes don't received update thru email about new post.

I had my carbs open up because I wanted to change the needles after 11 years. Nothing wrong but just wanted too. My carbs were clean as ever because I use to flush clean my carbs thru the airbox thru to the carbs inlet. Need a special tool though..cost is $10 just as good as cleaning the carbs.

Its always the case, nothing breaks don't touch it. Your roughness problem could be caused by the process when you were having carbs servicing...something I don't find in the manual. Washing and cleaning need not have all the internal small component taken off their sitting. Overflowing is usually caused by the float being jammed at certain level and can be the hinge of the float or the float closure needle. Common when there is build up in the carbs..however can be 'rectifier' by draining via the carbs drain nut most of the time.

Its ok Ah Pek... My problem has been rectified... I changed the valve float needles and they serviced it for like 3 hrs to get the problem solved...

Anyway, I was thinking of removing the choke completely. Can I do that? Because the u-shape metal piece no longer sit nicely on the black stud... and causing the choke to slightly pulled.. maybe due to dismantled the carb too many times liao... Any advice?
