Anyone has had any past experiences with Leong Seng at Alexandra? The shop besides Southern Motors...I just bought my 2nd hair Foresight 250 there. Traded in my baby vtec2 which i rode on for 3.5 years.Damn heart pain. In any case, i bought my traded in my old bike and rode off the scooter the same day. 15 min into my ride, there was steam coming out from the front. Suspected something wrong already. So i pillioned my friend home and then was on the highway back home when i realised the thermostat needle cleariing the red mark. Confirm got big problem liaoz. So i tried to make my way back as fast as possible and then suddenly, i heard a pop and felt some hot liquid on my feet. Apparently, the coolant cap flew out. Engine overheated liao. Heng i managed to make it back to the bike shop. They tell me to wait for my bike to be serviced...tell me around 2 hours. I was damn angry liao. Cos i expected the bike to be ok since the fella told me everything done up swee swee liaoz. So i waited for 2 hrs and went back...and the fella told me i have to collect another day cos apparently, the oil and coolant was leaking and the engine overheated, causing the gusket to break...damn tulan. So i said ok, i come back another day, but pass me back my old bike to ride. And the boss told me cannot liao cos already transferred. And i was thinking WTF....where got so fast transfer wan. On the same day i gave up my old bike somemore. So i waited 3 days to collect my bike. And again... after riding for a while i realised the overheating problem. And this time i found leaking coolant on my main stand..damn tulan. WEnt back to the shop and the fella told me this time different problem. The coolant tube wasn't secured at the bottom and fell onto my exhaust and burnt a hole in the coolant tube...WTF man..again...never do a proper job before handing over to me.

Don't trust that bike shop liaoz..i'm never going back there to service my scooter ever again. And to think i sold my baby to them. SAD. And irritated at the same time. Hopefully my current scooter can last me for a year at least.

Shop: New Southern (showroom) and Southern Motors (showroom and after sales/workshop)

I bought a '99 GSX-R750 sometime in Nov 2005.

(sold it ... bought a DR650... missed my GSX-R...sooooo)

bought another '99 GSX-R750 (bumble bee model) a month ago from New Southern again.

The sales guys are Ah Khoon and Thomas and one other chap... they are all quite friendly.

After sales is Ah Huat (I kinda suspect he's the boss as well)

I've always viewed mototiams in Bt Merah with a wary eye.... so I was pleasantly surprised... these guys are nice to deal with.

Prices are reasonable... do your homework and work your own deal with them... no one forces you.

OK... here's the best part and they deserve commendation.

After collecting my Gixxer, 1 week later, I realized that the forks were not of the same length (as the mechanic I went to for servicing the forks noted)... haha... and we always thought mototiams are out to cheat us.

Well... whoever traded in this GSX-R snooked New Southern....

Anyway, I brought up the problem to Ah Huat... he came to have a look... confirmed that the problem was real... and WITHOUT HESITATION he took a spare (from scrap bike) set of '96 Gixxer forks and replaced it.. all within 1 hour!!!

Yesterday, after I serviced my front calipers and replaced my steering cone (which didn't cure my steering wobble) I realized that perhaps the front brakes discs may be warped.

Called Ah Huat, brought bike to his shop... and he changed the discs again from his stock of spares....

AND today... I got a telephone call from Ah Huat... around 7.00pm... he called to ask if everything was OK!!!

Talk about great after sales service... he actually called to follow-up ! ! !

What a guy... he may not be engRish educated... speaks dialects, malay and mandarin... but some people in the service industry can take a tip from him.

Kudos to New Southern and Southern Motors!!!!

Shop Name: 1 and only @ Block 9002

Address: Tampines St. 93

Phone Number: --

What service/product did you purchase?

Bought my bike, brake pad, wiring, road tax, insurance, etc.

Level of service: 3 (everytime must call and chase)

Level of knowledge: 3 (Don't know but act like know alot)

Level of value for money: 2

How happy are you overall? 1

What makes this shop UNcommendable? (give details..)

First of all, you guys may puzzle that why I've done so many things there since I'm not happy with the service? its actually because I stay quite near to that place and I've know the mech there for about 2 years.. so everytime also hope they may give me a better service... but seems it goes the other way...

1. buying my S4 (Nov 04).

we agreed on a OTR price where both he and I felt comfortable with... which include road tax, transfer fee and 2nd party insurance.. and promise to hand the bike over in 3 days.

2days after, called and told me that now the insurance has increased alot.. want me to top up about $350 if I want a 2nd party insurance.. or get 3rd party insurance..

I said NO! and told him that I won't top-up a single cents since both of us already agreed for the price! and I've paid a deposit too.. I told him its either to get me a 2nd party insurance without top-up any $$ or I'll cancel off the deal.. and he said: okay okay..

after 2 days, I called and ask if I can take the bike since it has been more than 3 days.. he said okay again.. so I went to the shop.. then told me actually the name transfer haven't settle yet.. so can't take today!! WTF!!! I've already called and ask before hand!!

waited another 2 days... finally got my bike... happy at that time.. and he pass me all the documents.. when the moment I look at the insurance certificate.. I got a shock!! its 3rd party!!! this really push to my limit!!

so told them I don't want the bike anymore! I want back my deposit! the boss and the mech don't dare to look at me at that time.. I F@ck them upside down.. in the end, I demand them to reduce my monthly installment as a compensasion to cover the losses on the insurance...

P/s: promise to replace new spark plug, new battery for me... but never change!!

again, why must I go back to that shop again since they tried to cheat me before?

other than the reason stated above, another reason its because I thought they won't dare to con me again after the incident last time... but I was wrong! very very wrong!!

the story goes like this...

2. Changing my battery.(July 06)

bought a new battery from them, forgot to ask if got any warranty..

after they pour in the standard acid that cone with the battery, the mech yop-up extra acid til max full!! I ask him why? he said the battery can last longer..

since he's mech.. I'll just listen to him loh..

when I reach home, I found out that the acid leak all over my compartment!!

I clean again and again... Never mind, this is not the worse.. the worse is, after 5 days, the battery drain off! which mean can't store voltage inside!!

OMG!! went to the shop again, he charged the battery using charger..

next day morning, still the same! still difficult to start my bike!

so I called again.. he said he'll replace a new battery for me in this case..

so again... I went to the shop..

the moment I reach there, he said: I think your rectifier spoiled..

WTF!! he didn't even open up my seat or use a meter to test... and yet he know that my rectifier is spoiled??!! he added, the battery also got affected, so must changed too...

:giddy:

I chose not to trust this fellar... so I called my friend (a mech in JB) and he told me not to change first...

so I went to my friend shop and he check for me.. amazingly, the rectifier is working!! amazing??!! Bull5hit man... my rectifier has no problem at all!! its the batt itself..

NBZ... trying to con me again!!!

well guys.. I got too much of story to tell about this shop.. just be extra careful when you're around that area.. if your bike break down, rather to push bike than to being con by them...

btw, I won't be going to this shop anymore.. eventhough its near to my place..

yeah man understand your feeling. i was duped $150 also...

$45-new battery (made in Singapore)

$80-rectifier (said its original... still trying to verify)

$25-towing

wat happened was i took my bike for a minor, changed 4 denso plugs, 1 bearing in rear wheel, and so-called ESSO gold engine-oil(i suspected as they replaced as the refill the top-up jug out of sight) @ $100.

bike couldnt start after a 20 km trip. tried push-starting is okay, but bike dies after release throttle on neutral. called the shop, and they sent a tow... thats my f**king mistake not to follow...

called them later... said battery spoilt, rectifier spoilt. total charges is 150 bucks on top of the $100 minor... lost $250 in day. god knows what else they did to my bike while it was in the shop... not sure if i should have asked for my "spoilt" yusa battery back...

still investigating the matters with my frens from the force. the old birds thin they tinker my bike to fail during servicing, and that nothing was wrong with it.

will update the shop name once confirmed the cheat.

cheers.

$135 and $80(both shop claim its original)??!! its $55 different leh..

actually when I said $135 is too expensive for me, then they quoted me another rectifier which is made in Thailand... for $65..

Since I don't trust all those fellar.. I still said: no $$ leh..

then faster went another shop and verify my rectifier condition..

btw, :goodluck: and hope that you're not being cheated by those b@astard motorTiam..

yo i think that was a good call, will do that in future... but my bike couldnt start that day and my good fren's shop was close due to trip sigh... can anyone provide the part number for the ORIGINAL rectifier? (i think if the case above is true, i think i ended up with the thailan part... if they actually changed it...) btw, the tiam quoted a cheong one for $40.

anyway i think all bros and sis should have a "lau jiao" mentor to seek advise from and not go to tiams alone leh... tiger traps inside man... have paid my tuition fee and will open eyes from now on....

cheers all, please take care to all newbies...

So i stumbled upon Dexing at bukit batok midview building there.

Went to ask price for a new phantom and turns out the same range of price at Looi's

The guy who answered my questions at Dexing was a guy named allan. Friendly and honest.

So any opinions on this? Looi's Or Dexing at bukit batok?

Hi, speaking from my view as a regular customer of Mah Motor Parts at Jln Besar, i can honestly say their parts are all sold at a reasonable price! Jeffrey Mah is the boss, always wear white shirt walk around and Alice [his wife] always sit at the counter there one. If you want, you can also try bargaining the price with them, dun worry, they very frenly one! As for their mechanics, they got 3. Ah Fai, Ah Hock and Ah Peng. My personal mechanic cum fren is Ah Fai, his skills is highly recommended!

Star Rating: 4 outta 5! Cheers!

Mah Motorparts is my 1st bike shop that I visited. My Phantom seized up last time and they changed the EO, sparkplugs, piston, 2T pump, flushed the radiator for about $200 or was it a bit higher?

Anyway I used to go there until I tried Rosli's, 'cos my subsequent bikes were cruiser bikes and then I found out that Ah Fai used the wrong EO for my Dragstar! He used Motul 3000 instead of the 5100 that Rosli recommended and both oils are the same price too!! That was my fault 'cos I was a newbie with this EO thing. Thankfully my Dragstar's engine wasn't damaged and the gear changes became a lot better.

:cheer:

So my rating for Mah's Motorparts

Service: 8 (you can list your "To-do" things down but Ah Fai will only concentrate on those items and may not check the rest)

Workmanship: 10 (especially for common bikes like Phantoms and S4s), 7 (for uncommon bikes like my Dragstar)

Price: 9 (I found it reasonable)

Rosli's (registered as RS Bike Shop at Eunos Ave 4)

Service: 7 (he's always busy. You want to go 1st, go early, even at the expense of taking unpaid leave)

Workmanship: 9 (I would have put 10, but best check that the screws are tightened, necessary caps are closed and you have to clean the grime off yourself 'cos he may forget especially when he's very busy)

Price: 10 (I find it very reasonable)

Bought my bike (second hand bike) from A**e*t M***** 3 months ago, got into accident 11 days after i bought the bike cause some front braking problem. Front brake locked when i try and squeeze them.

After accident send back to the shop for repairs, tell me EVERYTHING'S OKIE already, but problems not fixed. Donno wad's the problem also since i'm a newbie, only know that its different from the bike i have been riding back in BBDC.

Got to know of this freelance mechanic from my colleagues. This mechanic used to fix bikes for a very famous bike shop in SG (which i do not wanna name in here), but now quitted already. Trusted my colleagues so I send my bike for him to repair.

Guess wad.... He pulled out small sticks & twigs from my front brakes lever today.

He didn't know me well, so he asked me, " You offended anybody or not? y people wanna sabo u like that?"

On top of that front folks are bended and ailgnment is totally screwed. [i survived on SG roads with that for 3 months] :faint: :faint:

I don't think the above bike shop did the saboing, since the sticks look like they r in there for a very long time.... maybe the previous owners had some stories to tell...

But hey, the shop took my money for the repairing and told me EVERYTHING'S OKIE!!

Just fixed my bike today.. i think i really have nothing to say liao. " :thumb: " to the above mentioned shop.

:goodluck: to all who did their servicings and repairs or has got anything to do wif that shop. :goodluck: !!

 i also bought a bike from them. 2nd hand.

Condition: 5/10

Price: 6/10

Servicing: 5/10

Its not a veri good place to do servicing as they tend to breeze thru their repairs.True tt sometimes they will miss out a few things, but too many is juz a problem. Bike wise,if buy 1st hand sure no prob, but if 2nd hand, best to CHCK the condition of the bike!!!i had to replace a lot of parts and my own mech told me that the bike has a different size sprocket and chain!! :faint: tires also no more thread liaoz. and when i asked them to service it b4 i collect, they onli service it when i go to collect which is some daes later. Sighz...Pricing wise, interest rate is high..8-9% of my bike price per yr.BEST to pay off one shot!!! Also, i have to wait 2-3 wks for my insurance paper. crazy manz....
