I was doubtful about coolant changes making a difference.

I was running a brown liquid from the previous owner of my steed.

Decided to try maxima cool aide as engine ice was not in stock.

Made a significant change in the temperature between my legs.

this thread have been dead for a year:cheeky:

anyway, just to check anyone use Redline water wetter for long term? i just flush my coolant and running water wetter with distilled water only. did some reading and found this thread.

look like one of the ingredient polysiloxane polymer might fall out of the solution in repeat heat and cool condition. the reviews online is all over the map. some use it for years with no problem while others develop problem in just a few hundred miles. i think for most people, the problem develop when mix with other coolant instead of pure water.

anyone have experience with this stuff for long term?

@Hydher

thanks for the great video. i use similar way as you during the first few times i flushed my bike. bottles of distilled water and vinegar:)

i realised since i do it every year, i do not have any needs for vinegar flush. also i stop using bottle of water during the flushing part. i just use a hose to do the job. much cleaner and faster:) i flushed 2 more times with distilled water before filling it up with coolant.

water wetter for me too. hehe...

great job there!!!

Thanks for the tip. I somewhat feel that just like an engine flush, it is not necessary.

just OT a bit. for those using self-mix coolant you might have some left over since our bike cooling system is small. the unmixed coolant is great for cleaning and lubricating padlocks:cheeky:

my dad have an 30 over years old Viro padlock used for outdoor purpose. it getting very difficult to lock and unlock due to built up from dirt and oil. tried WD40, silicone spray, engine oil and nothing work really well to fix it.

found an old can of those cheap coolant and soaked the padlock in it. took it out and dried it. wow!!! what a big different. the padlock now function properly almost like new. pure antifreeze is very slick and we know it suppose to have rust / corrosion prevention properties.

some might want to try it to fix your old padlocks. but take care since this stuff is toxic if ingested.

just changed the coolant for my kupkia after about 1 year. previously was using WaterWetter with distilled water at recommended dosage.

the WaterWetter drained out beautifully although it lost the pink colour that it used to have. no sign of corrosion. compare to Maxima Cool Aide which i was using before WaterWetter, the Maxima Cool Aide developed some sort of soft biological stuffs in the reservoir and radiator which WaterWetter does not have:thumb:

flushed the cooling system with plenty of tap water. this time, i skipped using distilled water as a final flush as i think it doesn't matter much. refilled with WaterWetter and distilled water although this time i double the dosage from 3% to 6%.

highly recommend WaterWetter for the possible extra cooling it suppose to have if you don't mind flushing your cooling system on a yearly basic.

iso, we are supposed to use water wetter with a 50/50 coolant to water

cool-aide got stuffs inside? interesting. i thought that would be my next coolant after the current engine ice inside my bike. maybe it could be leftover contaminants from the previous coolant before it? let us know hw the double dosage of waterwetter works out! :)

not necessarily unless u talking about areas where temp drop below 0 celsius. thats where you need the antifreeze. if our climate, just WW and water will do.

you can mix WW with 50/50 mixture but i doubt you get much out of it.

to get the best performance, it best to mix 3% WW with distilled water only. this is also recommended by Redline Technical Manager David Granquist for our topical weather when i email him.

the beauty of WW is it allow us to use higher percentage of water. Water have much better thermal properties then ethylene glycol or Propylene glycol.

i switched the coolant to cool-aide when i got my bike new. the bottle of cool-aide is enough for 2 flush for my bike and both times, there is some soft of stuffs in the coolant:confused:

somehow WW doesn't have this problem so far. will see how this time goes and update back.

maybe cool-aide is not "toxic" enough to kill those bacteria in the coolant:weep:

thank you :)

I used to run ww with distilled only. Was having problems that it kept evaporating.

Now 50/50. Was thinking it'll be good for seals and its anti rust.

but i have not check my levels just yet.

Yeah its better than cool aide. been there done that.
