Just now whilst coming home I did an unintentional stoppie.

Was not paying attention but looking at a chio bu riding another bike next to me as we approached a traffic stop.

The car in front of me had stopped and I turned back to see it just in time. Hit my front brake so hard the back wheel lifted off the road when the bike stopped dead in its track from about 30 kmh. Needless to say.. the family jewels slammed into the fuel tank. Tank pad or no tank pad... it hurt.

She turned back at me and looked... how I wish I had a totally dark visor at that moment. Although I tried to act cool, I am sure she could have felt the heat from my red face!!!!

But on the bright side... do invest in EBC HH compound brake pads. Worth every cent... even if it means rattling your family jewels now and then. :faint:

Show her the victory sign la....act as if u did it intentionally..wahahahah

Did you take note of the car number plate??

Chances are... the driver did not leave his particulars on a note for the rider to claim any damages. Hello, we are talking Singaporean drivers here.

In May this year... someone knocked my bike down while reversing his MPV.

Bike fell on right side, breaking brake lever, and cracking the fairings and tail pieces and needless to say, signal lights and footpegs.

Total cost to repair - $2980.

Lucky for me..the whole coffeeshop shouted so I was aware that he knocked down my bike. Imagine if my bike was parked at some secluded corner.... I would have had to cough my own hard earned money for the repairs.

I really hope you did take down the car number and YOU left a note on the bike telling the owner that you witnessed his/her bike being knocked down and that you are willing to testify against the driver as a witness, or else that poor bike rider will have to pay for his own repairs, hopefully it is not a fairing bike.

And if one day you should come to your own parked bike and find that there are damages on it which are the result of it being knocked over by someone..... and there is no note.... by driver or by a witness.......you will feel the same frustration and anger that the owner of the bike you saw being knocked down, felt.

How I know?? I have felt the same anger and frustration before with my other bikes that were knocked down whilst parked somewhere.

Wah.. then the driver paid u thru his insurance or his pocket?

Be happy always :-)

Initially he asked me how much I estimate the damage to be and wanted to pay me... but I told him it is not going to be cheap. I told him I will take the bike down to IDAC first just to get an independent party assessment so that his insurance won't say I further damage the bike for more claim.

After that, I had the damage assessed by Boon Siew and got the rough costing. When I told him the figure.. he asked me to claim from his insurance, ie AIG.

We both then filled up the accident report form and he admitted liability for the accident.

A surveyor contracted by AIG then came down to look at the bike at BS and took pictures of the bike damages, and the BS mechanic was also assessing my bike and telling him what needs to be replaced.

I had to pay for the repair myself first as this was the procedure when doing a third party claim. The insurance company will then reimburse me the amount.

I was told that it would take a month but I suspect it would take longer.

My God, if let's say I dun have the money to fork out the cash to repair, I'll have to stash away the damaged bike at the bikeshop till the insurance reimburse me??? Or the reimbursement will start it's waiting time after I do up the damage bike???

This is sooooo sad......Is there any alternative other than pre-approved repair workshops which I might worry that will side the insurance company (ie. inferior parts to save cost.....)???

Something dun seems just leh o_O .....especially it's not our fault, just pure bad luck.

Went to PG this morning for the 10 am session. On the way back bought 2 packs bubble gum and kept them in my waist pouch.

At the Tuas customs check, the customs guy (young Sargeant) told me that chewing gum is illegal in Singapore. Actually I wanted to tell him that what he said was the biggest load of horse excreta I have ever heard, but then thought the better of it and kept quiet.

He said I let you go this time, but next time don't bring in chewing gum.

It is illegal...... and I can bring in this time but not next time. So.... which part of this whole issue is illegal?? :giddy:

Someone correct me if I am wrong... but I understand the law to be that it is illegal to import chewing gum in bulk and it is also illegal to sell chewing gum.

No where is it mentioned that it is illegal to posess or consume chewing gum.

Might as well sanction chewing gum as drugs, whereby possession or consumption is a criminal offence punishable with 24 of the best strokes of the rotan!!! :faint:

Actually now I wonder, if at the customs checkpoint and I have chewing gum in my mouth... is it illegal? Must I spit it out before I can enter Singapore?

Coz I believe you can have chewing gum for own personal consumption but you cannot sell it.

Crossing back into SG yesterday, I and another ktm were stopped at customs check for "no. plate facing sky". Thought customs officers are there to check for undeclared goods, but apparently they're helping TP and ROV do their job too! :help:

The ban of chewing gum was onli partially lifted by the authorities .

So far , onli those anti-nicotine chewing gum sold at pharmacies r allowed to be sold . N they r sold thru prescriptions onli if i'm not wrong .

Anyway , 1 or 2 strips of chewing gum found on you , u may be let off wif a stern warning , but not the same cant be said for ciggies though .
