Didn't you hear? This is the Singapore "anyhow cross the road month"!

 

In just this week, I've witnessed at least 3 cases of pedestrians crossing the road in front of me when the lights are green in my favour. And just in case you were wondering, the lights didn't just turn green.

 

In one particular case, the lady was taking a leisurely stroll across the road when the traffic lights perpendicular to her was turning amber. Saw a car that was dashing for the amber light jam his brakes.

 

And the best part? The lady continued her stroll. Not a single damn was given that night.

Not surprised. Recently was about to change lane on the right as I will be making a right turn later. Already signal blinking to the right and a jay walker decided to wait till its clear to cross. The person was not standing at the pavement or divider but on the middle of the right lane I was about to change to. Horned but perhaps the person was either hard of hearing or simply dumb as the person did not even budge.

Pedestrians are really getting from bad to worst, thinking that they are the kings and queens of the road. Encountered a pedestrian that don't bother to check for traffic before crossing. He kept his head down with his eyes glued to his handphone and with earphones plugged in, so I decided to tap my horn twice to warn him. He jumped upon hearing the sound of my horn, looked up, stop for a moment and continue walking so I had to stop for him to cross the road. While crossing, the pedestrian kept staring at me while swearing at the same time.

 

I ever rode past jaywalking pedestrians, not one or 2 but a bunch of them so fast so near, wailing inline 4 with loud pipe, well the rest is history, I got my kicks, they probably got a scare of their life. One of the pedestrians even jammed her brakes and backpedaled.

 

Yes it was done on purpose, I was confident enough I could pull it off. Never repeated hahaahaha.

I concur. Now its just cross and take it for granted vehicles are gonna stop for them. See accident whip out smart phone take pictures and post at stomp or twitter and etc. Why bother stepping out to be a witness to the accident?

Why is it that certain drivers feel they have the right of way over motorcycles, and can bully motorcyclists around? *It might not be a majority, but definitely a noticeable number.

 

Today just took the cake though. Was riding to work, going down Scotts, and an A4 cuts me off. A little ticked, but whatever. Since I'm turning left, went into the next lane. I'm almost abreast with at the driver's window, he thinks he can cut into me.... Seriously? I'm well within the lane, near the arrow, and this driver thinks he can push me like that? So I just kept my line, stayed at 45-50ish, looked at him and shook my head. He keeps trying to crowd me, so I honk, look at him again, hard, and try to keep my bike in front.

 

So, he then proceeds to turn into me, and hits my bike, pushing the bike sideways. How does anybody think they can do something like that. And he honks at me when I slow down and look back at him. What the hell!?

 

Stopped my bike, thinking to look at any damage (probably should've moved it to the side of the road), and he continues to honk at me. Man, that seriously pissed me off, and I stood in front of his car for like a minute yelling at him to try to get it through his thick skull that he tagged me, esp since it could've been a whole lot worse if I'd not been able to keep my bike upright. Guy couldn't have cared less, just yelling that I should move and even tried to drive through me. What the hell. Eventually, I just gave up and he drove off without even tryin to look at what he did. Thankfully no damage to my bike, but seriously, what the hell.

 

Could've I given way? Possibly, but I was well within the lane, with an established position. How can any driver not consider it to be my right of way? Bet if I was in a car, would've never tried nonsense like that. Is there a general view of motorcyclists as second rate citizens or something?!? And it's not like it is a small bike, the M400 looks just like it's bigger Monster cousins.

Lucky for him it was he didn't mess with the wrong rider with skills to back it, he might have crashed into the bike and have to pay for it hahaha. Ask him to come out of his car la. Lai fight lai, you got helmet, just headbutt him.

 

Certain BMWs think they can outpower my S4, well they can but this isn't NSHW, good luck handling your BMW in medium-heavy traffic at excess of 180km/h in traffic, something bikes do rather easily.

It is sad but they have the mindset they are better. Also they know that we will always be on the losing side as we are not protected by a metal cage like them. Common sense will tell that we will definitely give way or try to avoid in such situations. Its pretty much like a game of 'lets see who chickens out first' to them. They will take it for granted we will always so called 'chicken out'. There is no right of way for us riders except in writing but its not been practiced. Insisting on right of way could mean death to us. Cannot say the same for drivers.

I believe it has to do with the high cost of cars nowadays. Gives them the "i pay more, i deserve more" mindset, looking down on us motorcyclists like peasants. Just because everything abt riding is cheaper, they feel we dont have the same rights.

Still, there is no damage to my bike (not that he cared to get out of his car to check) and I stayed upright, so the point was kinda moot. He definitely made contact with my footpeg, perhaps my front tyre (really not sure), but it looked like both my exhaust and front fender are dent free.

You shouldn't have let him off, best to have gopro, if you stop one side and he runs off, use that evidence as hit and run. If its a light mirror to mirror tap it wouldn't matter but shoving your bike is another matter.

I agree. Guys i suggest u hold off on the aftermarket exhaust or rizoma accessories upgrades and invest in a camera first. We always at the losing end in terms of damage or injuries. At least hv some evidence to back us up in claims. And help punish those idiot drivers.

Just ride defensively all the time and assume that the idiot driver is going to do something stupid without warning. Ride using your head.. and never let your ego control the throttle..and never treat the public roads as a race track.

Well at least if you're gonna die, try as much as possible that the murderer doesn't get away. At least when drivers see you have GoPro on your head, its a preventive thing against people who aren't supposed to be on the road in the first place.

Wow ur case quite rare. Sadly if u Ve no video evidence or no witness then no case. Unless u willing to do those self paid forensics test

 

Although in that situation I will request for passerby to call police for me while I try to stop the car from moving since he can't really knock me down. Also I would ask passerby to help take video and pic of the car. Especially video of the aggressive actions u mention

Riding home. Was travelling straight. Car from filter lane about to go into my lane without signalling. Anticipated that hence slowed down. Half of car already into the lane. Driver checks mirror and blindspot and quickly signalled to demand right of way. Pretty much made me laugh at the things drivers to to demand right of way.

was quite an eventful day, early morning otw to school saw an old uncle fell from bike, think it was a slow speed fall after turning left into PIE --> Tuas kallang bahru exit, suspect is trying to slot in cashcard then lost balance, moreover it was a wet morning. he got up immediately to pick up his bike so I didn't slow down too long to observe if he needed help.

 

on my way back from sch met one @!#*$& female driver in a black Honda Fit/Jazz on the highway. Was travelling along lane 3 before PIE --> Changi well before Paya lebar exit when said moron suddenly cut in from lane 2. Yes, while she did signal, but signaling + turning at the same time + without checking blindspot might as well don't signal right??!!! blasted my horn to let her know I was beside her, she saw me and she still kept cutting in, at that moment I really felt like punching her side mirror since she doesn't even use them. In the end just told myself to keep calm, overtook her, looked back and gave her the finger. Observed her for awhile after I moved to lane 2, that queen of the road then pulled the same stunt on a silver Toyota while cutting into lane 4 right before going into paya lebar exit... Bloody road hazard... not being a sexist but the driving reputation of the kinder gender already not so good, this kinda driver just reinforces it...

 

To the said moron, I understand 6pm+ after getting off work on a monday people just wanna get home fast, but not at the expense of endangering someone's else life right...

Seconded, hope the rider was OK.

 

Riding defensively is best, but it seems like drivers should at least understand their actions endanger lives of bikers? Instead of that 30 minute video being shown after passing the 2B / 2A / 2 licence, they really should show it to 3 / 3A licence takers....
