that one is a very hard process. your ears must be good to listen to the pitch and theres a technique to it. i myself still not good in that area. usually i wash carb then go to mechanic and get them to do the setting for me.

if you go to shop, they will charge you about $10-$15 for the carb washing service.

alright thanks a lot bro.

if theres anything i just refer here ok.

-your spocket size is it lesser then 42? if yes then thats one of the reason. becos 42 and above are for distance instead of pick up.

Eh? I've been hearing from alot of ppl here sayin tat the bigger ur rear sprocket is, the better pickup ur bike will hav; scramblers wif their oversized rear sprocket. Which is kinda true coz the last time I'm using 16-41, to get to 100km/h, I need to maintain @ 5.5-6k rpm. But when using 15-38 now, 5k rpm on the dot to maintain 100km/h. Can any otais confirm tis coz me kinda confused...

Hi guys :)

I'm still here, reading daily (if the server isn't "busy" again) but never post because nothing to contribute....

Just to inform you, the rider of Bangkok's boldest RXZ (my Bulldozer!) has started building Bangkok's FASTEST RXZ :)

The red one, which came back to me for good last week, is becoming my racing project. This is what i have planned:

- Kawasaki GTO headlight like my Bulldozer (tomorrow)

- 17" wheels (already have the rims & hubs), 70/90-17 front, 70/100-17 rear

- Lower, gas shocks rear, Showa-fork front (got the fork already)

- LED tail light & indicators like Bulldozer

- rear disk brake (using VRR parts, here no V4-suspension so no problem)

- dual-disk brake front

- max out block - 180cc possible, 180 it'll be :) (piston needs to be made)

- racing engine (gears, clutch, bearings etc) (already got it, needs overhaul)

- racing exhaust (expansion chamber) (needs to be built) in black

- 36mm flat-barrel carb Mikuni

- carbon reeds

- shooting for 60+ horsepower/220-230 km/h but stay street legal :)

This of course will take lots of time because it'll also take lots of money, which comes in slow... also got my new car to pay, 1/3 of my salary each month for car payments for the next 5 years.

Best regards.....

Thanh

Wow!!! Wat a project it's gonna be! Are u goin to port ur own block or do u let the bike shop do it for u? Eh wat block(Y1? Y4?) are u using to maxed it out? Coz it's gonna be a waste should somethin bad happen to ur block and piston... And hey, great to know ur still wif us till now.... Eventhough u hate the server here...:cheeky:

pick up slow, there are afew reasons to it.

-firstly have you service your carb?(wash carb)

-maybe your carb not tune up properly tats why it gives you a bobok feeling(slow start when move on)

-your spocket size is it lesser then 42? if yes then thats one of the reason. becos 42 and above are for distance instead of pick up.

-check your block to see if theres any leakage, the reason will be lost of combustion due to the gap either from the gasket or the threading from the pole.

speed to go down might be the reason from top or maybe your clutch plate is wearing of. if your speed is droping by 5km/h or 8km/h that would be normal.

maybe the old timer here can help more on this issue.

hmm. i think the bigger is for pickup. the lower for distance?

yea tats what i heard of also. i think blurchaoz mixed up lor.

and talking bout carb. my bike like horse, while riding got some 'pull back' effect. last time my fren say its the piston and block scratch alot got that effect, or isit just need to retune my crab?

Ehz... for sprockets, must see front and back together one...

Wat i know is that bigger rear sprocket with smaller front sprocket will have faster pickup...

Bigger front and smaller rear will have better distance....

Pardon me if im wrong...

Who what where when?

Hi :)

@Syamitomo

I will need to have that done by a shop which has the machinery. The times when i ported my own block (with no more than a file!) are gone - this is no 50cc block (but i got some 7 horsepower out of a previous 2.9 block, not too bad either - didn't port the scavenging ports because can't do such with a simple file, still got the previous 40 km/h moped to go above 90 km/h.

The block is a Y-2, same as the one i have on the Bulldozer now. The Bulldozer's block is original RXZ but the liner bored up by 9 mm, so it can use TZR or VRR (same) pistons and got 150cc. To go up to 180cc the liner has to be pressed out, the actual block bored up and a larger liner (TZR/VRR) "planted" which can then be bored up further to reach 180cc. But the block can not be bored more to accept even larger liners without losing stability. There is a company in Pattaya specialized on two-stroke tuning/racing, they explained it to me and are also going to get that job once i got the required money. They will also manufacture the special piston required and the expansion chamber type exhaust.

Today i have swapped the headlight on that bike (same as the Bulldozer, from a Kawasaki GTO) and did some lettering, however i STILL can't upload pictures here. The server sucks indeed, big time (every time i open this site from a notification e-mail it opens on page 218 and i'm not logged in despite cookies being allowed and password stored in Firefox). It's doing the same at my office so it's not my poor computer's fault.

How much is a genuine Yamaha RXZ headlight worth (Japan type RXZ)? I might sell that one :) I also got a meter set (someone wanted one some time ago) but the one i got is damaged/incomplete, i gather parts one by one :) Oh, and the shop where i got my Bulldozer from has another RXZ for sale...... i might just get weak and buy that, too. For the next project - an RXZ Scrambler :)

Kind regards.....

Ah... forgot.

Regarding the sprockets:

Front: Smaller = lower top speed, better pickup, larger = higher top speed, lower pickup

Rear: Smaller = higher top speed, lower pickup, larger = lower top speed, better pickup.

I'm running 16-40 on both my RXZ, top speed Bulldozer 190+ km/h. Bulldozer got enormous torque (can go 6th gear 20 km/h, open throttle and it goes!) and low fuel consumption - doing mostly around 100-110 km/h (5-5.5k rpm) about 3 1/2 liters/100 km. Rev power band starts at 7k rpm - "afterburner" effect, very strong pull that doesn't stop until reach 13,500 rpm, all gears. Using stock Lemang-pipe (no fiber), stock 28mm Mikuni and stock air box/filter.

Destiny (the other RXZ) got Y2 block too but stock (not ported/bored up). Top speed ~140 km/h, very little torque (need to keep above 4k rpm all the time), rev power band from 5.5k to 9k, there is finish. 100% stock engine, carb, air filter/box, 3BS pipe. Didn't measure fuel consumption - haven't done 100 km yet :) But Destiny starts without choke, Bulldozer does not.

Right now both bikes run identical (stock) tyre size 2.75/18 front, 3.00/18 rear. Next week that's gonna change :)

Kind regards....

im sure i mix the sentence up. haha. when im talking about pick up. its about the initial start when you start moving off from the starting line macha. a smaller rear size spocket has a higher stress level when you start off but a lower stress level when you hit 100km/h. bigger rear spocket has a lower stress level during the initial start but higher stress level on the rpm at 100km/h.

example on the road and tested out with a fren of mine.

his set up 16f- 42r at 100km/h his rpm is at 7.

my set up 16f - 38r at 100km/h my rpm is at 5.5

my bike was like a horse once. it was due to the conrod, block and piston and bearing. try washing your carb again and get the shop to do the setting for you bro. see if its the same then must be your engine already.

guys, is there anyway to change the 2t light to left indicator light?

if you change to premix then advisable cos your 2t light inactive and no use at all. find the correct wires to temper with and tap it individualy from your signal light source and not from the main line to the meter panel.

another advise the more wires you have on the bike the more trouble your going to trouble shoot in future if you have wiring prblms or short circuit.

Hi!!!:)

A scrambler rxz!??? Hey it's alrdy been done here in Spore u know, saw it a lot of times @ my old neighbourhood. But those were the old skooling/license-less days. Hehe... I know it's an RXZ coz it has "RXZ" all ard. Hehe...:faint:

Abt porting, I know tat a fren of my Sarawak collegue does his own porting on his Suzuki Panther. Using nothin else but sand papers. Don't know how he does it but I bet he had a whole lot of time, patience, energy and sand papers(of coz!) to hav his block done. I can do it too!!! Just give me a year or 2 to hav it done. Whether it works or not, it's a whole diff story! Hahaha...

Anyway bro, do u hav any idea on how to set ur own carb? Like how to listen to it for good air/fuel mixture? Playin ard wif the jettings/needles for best performance? I'm always amazed on how those mechs can just listen to my bike and telling me the low down...

And yeah, always love the color of ur bike...:thumb:

Eh thought u already hav 1? Anyway, buyin a pair of gloves don't hav to be fancy2. Last time I rode up to Melaka, I was using my sis's pair of old Nike's cyclin glove. It's not heavily padded, half fingered and I only used 1 side, my right hand side so tat u don't damage ur palm tat much while holding ur throttle for quite awhile. And very effective for sweaty palm ppl! Hehe...

Can any otais confirm tis coz me kinda confused...

Yeah man, wish I could hav those magic ears tat those pro mech hav. Haiz...:faint:

Mine is stock and will hit rpm 7 when i hit at 110km/h.... If I maintan this speed, my fc is 24km/L whereby if I go at 100km/h the fc will be 29km/L.... That is great difference man...

I also keen to learn from u lor.... Ha Ha Ha... My piston is also blacken about 40% but not much scratches.... But I feel kind of funny when I ride nowadays as I feel it was losing a bit of power when I first get my bike after overhaul... Plus when I rev on netural and release I seem to hear a contionous clicking sound like ball bearing or chain running, is it normal????

im sure i mix the sentence up. haha. when im talking about pick up. its about the initial start when you start moving off from the starting line macha. a smaller rear size spocket has a higher stress level when you start off but a lower stress level when you hit 100km/h. bigger rear spocket has a lower stress level during the initial start but higher stress level on the rpm at 100km/h.

example on the road and tested out with a fren of mine.

his set up 16f- 42r at 100km/h his rpm is at 7.

my set up 16f - 38r at 100km/h my rpm is at 5.5

my bike was like a horse once. it was due to the conrod, block and piston and bearing. try washing your carb again and get the shop to do the setting for you bro. see if its the same then must be your engine already.

if you change to premix then advisable cos your 2t light inactive and no use at all. find the correct wires to temper with and tap it individualy from your signal light source and not from the main line to the meter panel.

another advise the more wires you have on the bike the more trouble your going to trouble shoot in future if you have wiring prblms or short circuit.

So what is best sprockets size then???

Hi :)

Hmm you don't have pictures of such RXZ scrambler by any chance..? I have seen all sorts of weird home-made scramblers up north (mostly based on Honda Wave/Sonic) but none with a RXZ-heart. I'd imagine it would be a nice performing bike, only once i saw a RXZ (otherwise stock) with knobby off-road tyres and it didn't look too bad :)

Sadly, this Mikuni-carb on our bikes is not something i can tune myself. I am experienced with tuning carbs, however only the "Bing" type used on most German motorbikes, specially the small ones. This Mikuni is too difficult for me - too many things to consider (main jet, pilot jet, needle jet, needle, barrel, air screw.... and all together!) so i am just happy that both my Bulldozer as well as Destiny perform well with their current settings. Of course, once i get into the tech stuff on Destiny i'll have to fiddle with a 36mm flat-barrel carb..... but that is a different story :)

Porting a block with SAND PAPER..??? He must have taken months to do it..... Even with a file it took me close to a full day to get that Zundapp 50cc done, mind you only intake (no reeds) and outlet...... and those aren't even cast iron but aluminium, just the liner is NiCaSil-coated!

Kind regards.....

I also keen to learn from u lor.... Ha Ha Ha... My piston is also blacken about 40% but not much scratches.... actually depends on ur weight also bro. last tym i used 16-38, it was good for me using 18" rims. but i feel that the end difficult to achieve. i need ard 700 metre to get 180km/h.

so not satisfied, i lower to 15-37. pickup a bit slow but the end ok2 only. need to play with ur clutch to acheive 180km/h.

now planning to change the rear to 38. then see how. because still not satisfied. 600 metre my gear 6 finish already liao. sian.
