Hi guys,

happy new year! I just got my licence recently, so quite noob about bikes. Due to reasons, I might only be able to get a RXZ135. Can anyone intro me about the pros and cons of this bike? Anything i have to take note before i purchase the bike? How does insurance and road tax apply? ps too noob but pls kindly enlighten me :)

hmmm all i can say is bring along someone who knows about 2 stroke bikes or bringing an experienced rxz rider would be alot better.cis the last time i got cheated,my bike's frame broke before and most of the parts were local.main thing is to check that the fork is original, cos mine was local.haha errr, sorry cant answer u much, cos im a noob too.lols.basically its a dependable bike, and its definitely the most fuel efficient 2 stroke bike around.i dont think theres any cons with it,except that it emits alot of white smoke(all 2strokes bikes do).hope that helps! :)

Happy New Year!

Early new year bike rosak already. Help me out can anyone? I need info.

Lately, my clutch been giving problem. Hard to get to neutral at standstill and basically hard to change gear. Like got no freeplay. Just did a full servicing on the bike. Change engine oil, tightened chain even had the clutch cable change.

Went back to the shop when this clutch problem arise and they adjust the clutch cable. But we both notice that the engine was making weird noises when clutch is applied but as the service would take me an hour and on that day I didn't have time, I decided to come back another day to have it checked out.

Before even having a chance to come back to the shop, my clutch gave way today while at a traffic light! It stall and went I started the engine again, the clutch got no freeplay at all and the engine made SCARY noises when clutch is applied. Decided not to take my chances and push the bike to a nearby carpark and since its a public holiday, I'm guessing no bike shops gonna be open, so leaving it there till sunday or monday.

My question is, what could be spoilt with the bike? Read around and seems like its the clutch plate is the one causing all these mess. Is this true? How much would it cost to get this fix?

Any wise advice is appreciated guys, thanks!

Let me explain to you for your problem...

Firstly, the clutch disk wears, the pressure plate fingers rise and free play between the fingers and the clutch release bearing is reduced. If the cable is not adjusted to compensate for the reduced free play, the clutch release bearing will remain in constant contact with the pressure plate fingers. This can lead to premature release bearing failure and/or noise. In extreme cases, an incorrectly adjusted clutch cable (no free play) will keep the pressure plate from firmly gripping the clutch disk. The clutch will slip under load, causing accelerated wear and eventual failure.

Secondly, clutch cables also may stretch, increasing free play beyond specification. In a perfect situation, the clutch cable would stretch at the same rate at which the clutch disk wears, maintaining free play at a consistent measurement. The stretched cable results in excessive free play. The clutch pedal must move several inches before it begins to disengage the pressure plate. The pedal may run out of travel before the pressure plate completely releases its grip on the clutch disk. This causes difficulty shifting, clashing gears and a vehicle that creeps slowly forward even when the clutch pedal is on the floor. It also may be difficult to make a smooth start because the clutch will begin to engage as soon as the pedal leaves the floor. In a worst-case scenario, the clutch may never completely disengage.

Check your clutch housing, plates and spring. Clutch plates cost around 68sgd. I dunno abt JB. Plus, in order to change clutch plate, you need to flush out your engine oil thus, you need a new one. Oh ya, change the clutch spring as well. Making it wear together with the clutch plate.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

You may want to adjust your 2T cable pump in order for the bike not to emit a lot of white smoke. And a good 2T would be good.

LeonWong - For 2 stroke bike, you need to regularly check your 2T in order not to seize the engine. Don't rely so much on the warning light. It can be faulty. Other than that, periodic engine oil change. Nuting much i could say. It's juz a good bike for commuting...

Wow, thanks bro! Very good info you gave, I basically understand my problem already. Called up Kim Heng Seng, they're the only bike shop opened on Sunday in the east I guess, quoted me $120 to change clutch plate with engine oil and everything. Is this reasonable? Feels a bit expansive to me.
