Folks, do you face this problem in your GMAX:

After a couple of months, your battery shows signs of weakening and the electric starter sometimes hesitates for a moment before starting the engine (a very common symptom of poor battery condition)

I had this problem many times in my bike's 13-mth history. It happened recently and the battery had to be sent for recharging. So far so good.

I suspect that it's due to my habit of using the hi-beam during daytime (does not dazzle oncoming motorists, just helps to make u less inconspicuous that's all)

Not too long ago I also had the coil changed to another one with higher rating, under warranty due to the same problem. However looks like there is little improvement.

BTW I ride a ELIT Sports manufactured by Modenas.

I had the same problem last time when i use a smaller batt. The batt went completely dead after I put in a 55watts white headlight.

Now I had taken it out and reverted back to the stock one with a bigger batt. No more problem.

Hiap Aik now selling good lower voltage lights. Very nice when I see them on the 200cc gmaxes. Wooh...

Alvin... can my switch be modified. My gmax is the only one on the road which cannot switch off headlight...

Hi there, if there is weakening of your bike's battery pls check the following items,

- is your brake lamp bulb "ON" all the time?

- do you have the habit of holding the rear brake while riding?

- check for the brake switch sensors that r in working condition.

Becos of the tail lamp bulb is using 12V21/5W, the 21W brake light is turned "ON" all the time, the bike's battery will drain off super fast.

Recommendations: change the tail lamp bulb to LED type double legged (1016), as LED consumes less current and is as bright as conventional types.

-Use higher ampere battery, stock type is using YTX7A-BS, upgrade to YTX9-BS.

PLS, use better quality battery, for example, YUASA battery, should be able to lasts at least 1.5 to 2yrs.

-Use only 12V35/35W for 150cc n below, change the pilot bulbs to LED types as LED only consumes 1W.

-Install a volt meter to monitor the current of the bike.

-check for the regulator's current reading. (tis may also cause the battery to weaken)

-disable the auto-switch on function to save current, use the pilot lamps instead in the day, and on the head light in the night.

Hope the info helps.....

Thanks for the tips.. Actually I have already started using LED tail lamps (sourced from TAIWAN) to minimize this problem. Also stopped using the headlamp during daytime (use pilot lamps only) but are there LEDs for the turn indicators? Will the LEDs work?

About the battery, yes standard is '7' but I will consider '9' like you mentioned. Costs more but I think should be worth it, just like NS60 and NS70 batteries in cars I suppose.

Hi, turn indications, you cant use LED type as the signal relay cant match the LED bulbs. I tried them before.

Yes. Use the "9" type of battery, it mite cost abit more but saves the hassle of always recharging the battery all the time.

hey guys the first time i pump petrol, the mileage was 180km and the needle already pointing at END liao..u tink still can go further ? Becos when i pump full, it was only 5.8liter pumped. So i tink one full tank can go about 220-230 km ?

Wat u mean ''needle already pointing at END''?

Did the needle reach below the Screw already?

Or only just reach at the last point of ''E''?

If just reach last point of ''E'', inside still got about 1/4 more of petrol.
