Yup momo bro, seen the pics liao. Someone posted it some time back.

If its really backfire, anything I shld do? I will just monitor how it goes...

Backfire. Can be cause by the petrol u use.

Petrol that have rot will also cause similar problems.

1. try to make sure ur tank is full is not riding for long period.

2. Our tank is small. Try not to store longer than a week.

Another possibilty is carb setting is lean. If that's the case. Just do a carb tuning will solve the problems.

Or There may be a leak at ur exhaust or intake manifold. These can cause and lean condition and cause backfire.

Yup Momo

Seen the pics already... It would be great if the forum could create a place for bikers to share their bikes, modification, decorations, etc. Did also a search over the web and downloaded quite a no of pics, as GMAX came in different colours, and specifications, ie Yellow, and 50 cc ones have smaller airbox. :bounce:

It would be interesting.

I have created one in yahoo group, but there is limited storage space. :bouncefire:

Bro,

Possibility:

1. It is due to petrol grade or there is water mixed in the petrol.

Sometimes it is not due to our fault, some of the petrol kiosks storage tanks

might have traces of water. The water might be pumped into your bike's tank.

When water is being mixed with petrol, you will expericence a back-fire or

loss or power for 1-3 seconds.

2. Air-fuel ratio need to be tuned. As wat BC mentioned "lean".

3. Spark plug misfire.

If it happens too often then, come on down and have it checked.

It did happen to my past bikes b4 also.

Hi guys...

Need some suggestion on installing stereo on my gmax...

Went to ubi the other day and ask the owner to quotes on the price if he install it... Its his first job on a gmax and he said with an estimated price of 200+ which include 2 normal big speaker, 2 smaller one and a medium flat amp.. Normally he gave 2 normal speaker but he gave additionally 2 smaller ones the size of a small gauge.. The reason because the 2 normal speaker gave out quite a bass sound while the smaller one consists of a stereo type which equalise the two sound in a clear way.. By the way he plan to install the mp3 player type.. Not the normal car radio... Its not a bad idea for those without mp3 because you can still put ur walkman or discman... hehehe...

Anyway my problem is to install it the 'drill a hole' way or by mould.. If i take the drill one, i will get a smaller speaker and it would only takes me a day to install.. Now the problem part is when maybe someday im gonna change my bike, will the boss take my bike which will have a hole if i remove my speaker.. Or should i leave it and sell the speaker together??

If i mould it i will get a bigger speaker, no drilling of hole required but i need to leave the bike there for a few days( which i cant cause i hate taking public trans and frequently use the bike for daily use) due to the making of special mould case for the speaker which is made out of 'something something carbon'.. The disadvantage of this is i got a same friend who mould a stereo on his bike which end up stolen in jb.. The bas***d juz rip out his speaker and cut out the cable.. 3 min job! By the way because of the mould criteria, need to fork out few more dallars because of the material.. The mould part is not from this shop.. Instead the shopowner need to call up his friend from the other bike shop to come and take the measurement.. Thats why i need to leave the bike there for a few days..

So any comments for this dillema? Thanx ya all...:help:

Hi Bro,

In my opinion, go round and ask for more shops pricing and options which they can offer to you if you are really keen in installing a system on your bike.

Think our bro want to know whether to drill hole or do the normal moulding.

Since you mentioned its a 3min job jus to rip the speakers, my personal preference will be drilling in. It will be frustrating to lose it after installing for a short while.

Anyway, plan the installation careful. Our gmax dun hav much space to install sound system man. Maybe can discuss with gmaxscoot.

Not sure if it would be good audio as the bike is quite noisy with the Turbo exhaust design, you may have to max the volume...

Alternatively you may need to fix a screen to "house the audio" within your riding area, so that you can hear better.

As for cutting holes... unless you want to replace the panels with the original, i guess the speakers have to go with the bike when you sell.

my 2 cents inputs ... :cheeky:

My personal preference? MP3 player with In Ear Canal earphones, like what Sony(pioneer), Panasonic and Phillips are offering now.

No noise pollution, high quality sound, no need for radio license and no fear of it being stolen. Also if you have a pillion... use a 1-2 splitter plus another In Ear Canal earphones.

Just my opinion. No offense hor cos to me bike audio system is so 1980's Skippers.

Sorry bros. I too feel the same.

The more things u put, the more it will become a target for those lowly scums who steals.

I may sounds like sour grapes. I only install a cheapo $60++ volt meter.

Any autoshop also can buy one. Yet that scum can just ripped it off my bike.

What will those scum do if they see that u have a 400+ worth of gadgets installed on ur bike?

Still it's up to individdual. One mans meat is another's poison.

MY style of doing things is, want to do something, do all the way.

Either you be cheapo like me install minimal. IF not do something more proper.

Don't do it neither here nor there.

You got your volt meter ripped off... Oh man !

Just had a go today with my iPod and the standard supplied ear piece. It sound clear enough. Only good if I could add a wireless remote to it so that controls can be made for song selection and volume control without taking the iPod out. If you also add a good pair of ear piece, it would be ideal.... better if you had one of those bluetooth ear phones... without wire. :lovestruck:

Incidentally,, not my day today.... got stopped by TP twice within the same hour, for not switching on the main headlights today... fortunately, they did not spot my ear phones ... else it would be another lecture along the expressway ..

maclife,

Try out those Sony In Ear Canal ear phones. Good seal from the wind noise and I've heard comments of the Sony's to have good bass. Too many models now so dunno which is which there.

The panasonics are high on treble so gotta EQ abit but works fine been using it for a while.

Recently got a pair of phillips. The "noise reduction" doesn't really work that well and quite leceh to use cos got all those cords here and there plus a bulging plastic "noise reduction" box and needs an additional AAA battery. Good for airplanes though.
