well if u want fuel economical bikes get cbr150. if u want speed , fast get nsr150sp

cbr 150 will sure be a cheap to maintain bike.

Good and bad is just the difference between perceptions.

with proper tuning and right amount of 2t, the bike can be almost no smoke and has power.. and it dosent leads to any piston jam.. that's the beauty of perfect tuning.. :cheeky: but nevertheless.. 2strokes are always smokey.. lol

I'm quite amazed by the general replies here to the threadstarter's question :)

CBR 150 is lowly powered. NSR got good pickup but often got problem with heavy white smoke emission

Bros and sis', put it this way as knowledge. I'm going to compare the CBR and NSR based on your replies here.

CBR 150 is a 4-stroke bike. Since the engine rotates in 4 stages (hence the term "4-stroke"), it generally gives the bike better torque and is reliable but this design does not give the rider any "pickup" gains. One more advantage: Underneath the engine, 4T oil** constantly lubricates the piston and cools the whole engine by flowing around it. The oil then returns to the bottom of the engine (the bowl that holds the 4T oil is called the sump). The cycle then continues -- essentially, you can say that the lubricating oil is "recycled" this way, lubricating the engine at every cycle of engine rotation.

=====

NSR is a 2-stroke bike. Yep, a lot of bengs (and maybe 'lians) swear by it in terms of "lacer lacer" look, image, and performance also. It's somewhat true actually.

If you had been following me all this while, you might already have figured out that 2-stroke bikes = 2 stages. And yes, this kind of engine rotation setup is simpler, and guess what? This is actually why 2-stroke bikes have pickup. And it's loud too and eats up a lot of petrol because of the high power output

To lubricate this kind of engine, 2T oil is used. Unlike the fact that 4T gets "recycled", 2T oil is designed to be used once. It gets mixed with petrol before both gets into the engine itself.

Petrol burns during the combustion stage while the 2T oil lubricates the piston. After that, they get blown out the pipe.

So the "smoke" and "emissions" you guys were describing, was actually a little bit of the petrol, and a lot of the spent 2T.

Oh and unlike recyclable 4T which is always there, 2T needs to be topped up. No engine lubrication = imminent piston seizure (piston jam in SG slang)

======

If you want, you can invite your friends to lim kopi one day and snicker at him for having such a slow 4-stroke bike. Then he can fight you back saying that your 2-stroke bike emits so much smoke and is loud. But don't say redbeacon korkor say one hor. Wait i kena hentam. :D

** I was being told that "4T" is the name of the type of lubricating/cooling oil that is used for 4-stroke bikes.

One of you said mods at JB?? A bit scrary go JB on bike go there sia....

alot of theft case there.....

Uhh...forgot 1 thing.

4-strokers do need to change their 4T engine oil too. Only when it gets dirty or as recommended by the service manual

(some say every 3 months, some say less...)

Ok. how long is the usaully?? to change 4T oil??

Posted

Usually, if you consult the user manuals (in your case, the CBR150 user manual), there's a page on the recommended KM (kilometer) intervals on when to change the oil.

Otherwise, some say 1 month, some say 2?

Sorry ah, I don't own CBR150 so i dunno.

Bikeshop uncle knows best so maybe you can ask them too?

Nsr Sp out of production in the WHOLE world or just in Singapore??

Posted

no longer in production means honda factory is not manufacture it.

reason is tat 2-strokers engine was not able to conform to euro2 environmental standards.

currently governing authorities has raise it to euro4 (stricter CO2 emission).

tat is the reason why current bikes manufacturers r only produces 4-strokers.

carburetors will be phasing out soon, whereas FI (fuel injection) can proper manage CO2 emission with Oxy sensor.
