Do you know what's their wake-up call in this case?

more paperwork means asking them to charge you more...and when u dun pay on-time, each letter add in $0.50 reminder fee...you want that?

have a season card better...i hate to keep paying for it so many times...

why shd we pay as many times as we enter? does it create more jams if we enter once a day, or 5 times a day? they shd just deduct once per day per gantry... :cheeky:

I agree. If LTA do this way, there will be tons of paperwork and adminstrative work as well. This might means higher cost to the ERP rates.

Anyway.. don't you guys heard before that LTA is looking into implementing ERP by GPS? I think it is a really good idea, except that.. GPS is a expensive technology itself therefore the rates will be increased.. no doubt about it.

But my own opinions on having ERP are same as others. Why we need ERP in some areas like before steven road exit? The route is clear, just that sometimes there is heavy traffic. And because of that ERP gantry, traffic becomes very slow, inevitably causing unneccessary minor traffic jam. A few times, druing peak morning (8.58, 59am) when I was in lane 2, the speed of my front moving vehicle are actually.....20km/h.. just because there are 1 or 2 min before the ERP ends.. Obviously, this is bound to create traffic jam..

Having ERP in appropriate locations are good, to control flow of dense traffic.. but having a gantry out of the blue at exit steven road, can't really justify the need. Having ERP over at such locations in fact might make traffic flow worse. We might really need to petition on that...

From the way it is set up, I'm going to use the word "strategic".

Strategically placing some gantries at certain odd places makes sure that each and every SG motorist -- especially those detour-seekers --would have to eventually pay to get into the city.

That's another form of flow control...making sure that everyone gets pass at least a gantry during rush hour.

i have a suggestion to curb the jams...

mayb u all can gimme ur opinions..

i realise the jams mainly is coz of merging of traffic from the filter lane ( is that wat u call it?)

so i was thinking...those areas located nearer to town area...shld have gantries at the entrance..this is to make pple whom are in areas nearer to town area to avoid the cte and use alt routes....

ppple staying far away like yishun amk then no need.

wats ur say? no flaming plz.

And let the garhmen earn less? dun tink they'll do that.

The ERP was NEVER there to control traffic. It does sh*t other than relieving road users of more $$.

Why would i say that?

1) Control of the use of roads/no of cars on the road used to be the function of the COE. Occasionally, you would see super fluctations in it which causes a surge in the number of new cars on the road.(especially during election periods) The gov earns more from the insane taxes and at the same time creates problems on the roads as more cars are present now. So if the ultimate purpose of the coe has already been made invalid by the huge amount of cars on the road, whats it there for? $$.......

2) To salvage the dumb situation that they have gotten themselves into, they implement the ERP which looks and sounds so nice on the outside but utterly useless. It doesn't do much but they earn a hell lot more. Last time when the old system was present all you needed was a single pass, can go in and out in and out. Now you go in go out everytime must pay.

3) The idea of the ERP was to control the flow of traffic at certain areas, which in turn cause more traffic at other areas. They are merely moving traffic from one road to another. The amount of cars are still the same, just at different places, that means elsewhere there is still congestion. Just look at CTE, every morning also jam like dunno wad. Even if you raise by another $1 it'll still be jammed. The root of the problem is that there are too many cars on the roads. Period. Solve that and you would have no need for the dumb erp system to always increase price.

Absolutely correct...

One useless system to cover up the other that don't seems to work anymore...

And in the end, rolling in the $$$ from tax payers is what they want...

Problem is still there for us to face it...

Steps to do a proper KNNBCCB with middle finger.

1. Bow down slightly, looking intensely at objective

2. Like a raging bull, hop and jog slowly towards objective

3. Take your left palm and slap it hard on the right mid-arm with a SLAP!

4. With charisma, raise right arm, whilst showing middle finger (with left palm trapped in bend right arm)

5. Shout! KNNBCCB

my friend made a small hole of 2-3mm at the expose end of the cash card and tie a string to bike key. He never lost his cash card anymore.

But everytime you insert your bike key, insert the cash card too.
