900km in kampong road is no easy task.. unless you can reach Kuantan by 11 or12pm and leave Kuantan by 1pm lastest.... you wont have problem riding in the dark kampung road...

 

Just a guide from Airpapan back to JB took me 1hr 45mins to travel 150km.

bro, starting from gp travel to yong peng cut off is 100km highway. then trunk road to labis. The roads are repaired and good. Segamat to kuantan road is straight and nice. no cornering like rossi. Just open eye big big. Then hit kuantan, use highway around more than 50km highway then short distance to kemaman. Wat's the porblem? total is 413 + 413 = 826km niah! If travel constant 110km/hr takes only 8 hrs. Now we take 12 hrs means petrol and rest 4 hrs how not to make it huh? I over 50 liao still can why not the rest? Just like Dahun said: so many have made it why not try?

I agree with AngMohKia. I've driven, not ride, these trunk roads quite frequently before(there's also a Bekok waterfall at Bekok, and Panching waterfall - this one's clean and good but only slightly less crowded than Kota Tinggi during weekends - near Kuantan airbase, if you're interested). These trunk roads have very light traffic, unlike that from WoodlandsJB to Kota Tinggi. Segamat to Kuantan is more like an expressway, like TPE with even less traffic. Here, the danger is going too fast cos at speed, the gradual corner at the end of each very long straight becomes quick bends.

 

I've also driven a car up the old route, leaving at 6.30am using Woodlands JB-KotaTinggi-Mersing-Pekan-Kuantan-halfway to Cherating, then back using this same route with heavier traffic, and still reached S'pore 6pm the same day. But we were a bit faster than 110 in the car. Stops were at Mersing, Kuantan, Mersing.

 

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. A safe journey to y'all.

 

p.s. Because the traffic is light on these trunk roads, twice I've crested a slope and encountered oncoming idiotic drivers who overtook while they were going upslope. These was between Yong Peng and Segamat.

I agree with you! But being the kiasi me, I will go for this trip if the next day I don't need to work. But I have to, so I have to pass on this opportunity...

 

Dreamwalker, what he said is very true. In fact, I think it is on trunk roads that a 2A bike is more than capable of following the class 2 bikes. Do join them!

Of course, it's possible to do this trip in 1 day. I rode from JB to Kota Bahru (800km) in 1 day many times before.

 

But for inexperienced riders and especially if you're riding a small bike, please be careful. Safe overtaking and fatigue may be your biggest challenge.

 

But, what the heck? Just do it!!
