Today i went to get my spark plug cable replaced.... as it was discovered to be loose and worn already... hope that solves the problem of bike dying...

Also washed the carb.... din realize how dirty it was till i was taken out, the whole carb was black as if got 2T stuck on it... and one of the jets inside was blocked...

@xXxRated where did you go to wash your carb?

Anyone knows how to know when to change brake pads? (Especially the rear) I stared at the end and it all looks & feels the same to me >_

Yea apparently my idling speed was at 1k rpm.. & tweaking it to 1.3/1.4k rpm was what solved the problem =).... Now i'm jus wondering if the mechanic actually lowered the idle speed when he washed the carb..

honestly i've no idea y it's 12k... since i'm a sucker for bike maintenance i jus went ahead & cleaned it.. haha... When do you guys wash your carb then?

1K RPM idling is for 2stroke bikes.

:cheeky:

i usually dont wash the carburettor. dirt can get into carburettor only either thru dirty air or dirty fuel. i've got air filter on my ride, so whatever dirt that is fine enough to pass thru the filter is also probably fine enough to pass thru the carburettor and get burn off along w/ the petrol. i dont think i'm pumping contaminated fuel from the spore kiosks nor is there a rusting issue in my fuel tank. so fuel should be pretty clean too. w/ the above, i think my carburettor remains clean even after clocking abt 40K kms. :p

thanks don for e advice....anyway would like to change my rear light to led light?any advice?

u mean just swop the original bulbs w/ LEDs?

those are commonly available. i got mine for smth like $10/pair.

as for changing the entire brakelight assembly to those fitted w/ LEDs, i cant be so sure where to get. maybe can try JB. i've seen a malaysia registered cbr150 w/ clear taillight assembly w/ LEDs. looks damn neat, similar to the crystal clear taillight on cars. :thumb:

@d0n^ I did ask and he took it out while changing tyres to show me but when installed back on, how to tell if it is worn from the outside? Maybe it's just me >_<...>

guys, if you know of anyone selling Honda Wave 125 X, let me know!~ haha...

bro..what's e distance u travel per day? is the maintenance + petrol savings really that significant boh? i tink if intend to sian charbor during yr school term then u better get something more impressive than Wave X~

the brakepad is kind of made up of 2 layers.

the portion that does the braking (ceramic) is mounted on top of a metal base.

so it's layer 1, ceramic.

layer 2, metal base.

the entire brakepad is fitted onto the brake calipers parallel to the brake disc. u need to know how to differentiate between the metal base & the ceramic before u can figure out the brake pad condition.

hais don... Actually I don't mind NSR 150 fuel consumption. But yearly decarbon in the engine block, cylinder and valve will costs me a lot when I embark on my studies journey. Some more 2 stroke bike piston rings wear off faster...

I would love to keep my nsr and renew the COE but don't think my wallet allows such a high maintenance in near future. I changing wave x cos no radiator, no coolant to worry about. Just change engine oil can liao. Everything also cheap cheap...

Next year going to study at NUS liao.. bedok to NUS is around 30km... not near also =(

er...what's w/ the water-cooled versus air-cooled bike difference huh?

air-cooled system: engine heat only passes to air.

water-cooled system: engine heat passes on to heat in radiator water passes on to heat in air. at the same time, there is also some engine heat that is passed to air directly (like air-cooled bike). so it's dual cooling at e price of $7 (1litre bottle of ready-mix coolant from Shell) right?

bikes w/ radiator means there's a separate radiator water temperature meter. if the meter reading goes up (especially easy for bikes like cbr150), is it necessarily bad? as compared to air-cooled bike w/o the temperature meter, u dont really know what's going on siah. i dont believe that those kup kias w/ engines left to run while stuck in causeway jam is running any cooler than say, a cbr150 stuck in e same jam. is it a case of knowing e bike temp versus ignorance?

and as for the carbon built-up, tink it's cause u never whack hard enough. wahahaha. the reason why i sold my KRR was because i'm a slow rider & i cannot tahan the fact that i need to spend more to upkeep a 2-stroke cause i never whack, as compared to another 2-stroke rider who whacks. :faint: so i never went back to 2-stroke liao

haha don you got me wrong about the air-cooled or liquid-cooled.. Relax don't so ji dong.. haha...

I mind about bike having radiator is not becos of the temp.. is becos more expensive to maintain if sway sway those parts spoil.. haha.. fixing water pump not cheap...

carbon more or less will built up over the years... i always whack and whack until now got speeding ticket liao.. lol.. :faint:

no ji dong lah...is just lots of question mark popping out of my head~

how much is the damage for new water pump? if it spoils once every 100,000km then i think not much of a concern leh~

:p

ai seh...speeding ticket is costly...

Haha i think i phrase my reason for changing bike too ambiguous liao.

Changing water pump parts is around $100++, last I got quote from Everfit. There is water pump crankshaft, bearing and the rotator. Too many moving parts involved liao. Trying to minimize my costs on maintaining my bike when I embark on my studies journey. Students are always the poorest class =(

Speeding ticket is really costly. Don't think I can appeal this time.. Sian liao!~

Ride within the speed limits guys.. Don't donate your hard earned money to the govt.

Hi there,

Bike can't start up with electric stater, had to push start.

When in Neutral gear, engine off: Only back light is on.

When in Neutral gear, engine on: Front & Back light on, but when I tested the brakes, back lights just flicker once and returns to initial intensity (never light up stronger, think before hitting brakes already at its max).

Think my electrical wiring came loose somewhere?

Anyone know how much to rewire? and any shop to recommend a solid rewiring job?

Thanks.
