Hi.. Im riding a CBR150i (if im not mistaken) which COE is ending this end July 2012

Im having such a huge dilemma now.

Should i scrap..? Or should i renew and do repairs..?

 

What should i look out for in my bike to have a rough idea how my bike's condition is like..? And roughly how much could the repairs costs?

So far here are the things i found;

 

Exhaust pipe is reaaaally rusty and i found a hole on it.

Coolant is bit rusty (but my bike temp has never overheated)

Brakes not working so well (disk brakes and brake pads slightly worn)

Engine overhauled in 2009/2010?

Key (on/off/lock) slot bit spoilt

 

Haha! I think this sounds like almost the whole bike but its my first & only bike since i passed.

 

Please just enlighten and give me good tips n honest and open comments

I just want to invest my $$$ properly. Lols!

hey guys. suffering a slight intermittent rattle (every few seconds. its not constantly rattling) from left side of engine when idle

 

im thinking that the cam chain tensioner timing is slightly out

 

do i need to change the whole thing or just adjust it?

 

anyone knows the pricing to replace/repair?

You can either: A- scrap the bike and sell all the parts you can

B- renew the coe and continue riding/sell

C- export the bike overseas.

 

Overseas export? Thats a new idea to me..

But its it worth it to just renew 5yrs COE but then later unable to renew again uh then maybe repair & sell?

Can't tell for sure unless throughly inspect... why not bring down to motorshop let them have a look? Open engine labout already $200 conservative estimate... parts wise another $200?

i thought that part does not require the engine to be opened?

my bike is at unique motorsports...engine died prematurely, piston jam etc. will be scrapping it, so you can arrange to take a look if u want. sprockets and chain are about 3 mths old, rear tire 3 mths old (bridgestone bt39), radiator is new...

cam chain tensioner replacement is actually quite easy.

2 bolts and it is out~

wont cost u much even if get shop to do.

the item cost around $20+ from FJT.

btw ur rad when bought?and fairings wise hw much for full set??, mine some only spoil. but if affordable enuff, i might juz get the full set.since i out of town, i mayb ask my friend collect this weekend if he can. cause i'll only be back on the 27th of june. but not sure if u can wait that long. cheers

i try to DIY for minor items

for major repairs, either go to Planet Motor or Mah Motorparts (opposite Sim Lim Tower)

advantage of Mah Motorparts is that they are very near to FJT which is the authorised parts dealer for honda.

radiator bought end of march. still got receipt. new radiator hoses (3 out of 4 hoses are new).

fairing u dun mind is scratched slightly...had 2 accidents/falls. free to look, pay the workshop for labour if u keen...
