Hi guys hope you can help me out.

I got myself a CBR150 and initially there was some coolant leakage.

Now it seems to be repaired but i find that the bike heats up till the coolant temp meter can almost hit red when i travel say from pasir ris to clementi.

The mech tells me to stop if it hits red but cant be so easy to heat up right?

 

Is that normal? Anyone observe how much the bike heats up and where should the temp meter roughly be?

 

it's not normal. won't heat up easily except in traffic jams.. mayb can flush ur coolant.. actually normally shld only be halfway, wont reach red line. unless as i said, in traffic jams..

hmm, mayb can get any colour CBR150 and give it a new paintwork? haha.. cos ozzarhomb and Ladyrider selling theirs.. cos no point gettin a colour u need but the bike condition ur unsure of.. juz a suggestion, dun flame me

mine wont go pass halfway for temperature as well

but then the previous owner changed the thermostat of the bike so that the fan will kick in in half mark, instead around 75% mark for original parts.

2 possiblities:

1. coolant running low or ran out already (need to trace why the coolant disappeared)

2. fan located behind radiator spoilt (need to replace. hear from other pple that the fan will cost ard $100+ to replace)

 

for my bike, the temp gauge can go up till 1/2 even when travelling on expressway during daytime and up till 3/4 when stuck at multiple traffic lights during daytime. the reassuring thing is that it is capable of cooling down frm 3/4 to 1/2 relatively quick (e.g. within travelling a distance of 1 to 2km)

$3.9K sounds too expensive for a 2.5year vehicle (should be FX or FY plate?)even if it includes 3rd party insurance coverage.

hmm, mine is also like that. but last time it never, not even once, exceed the 1/2 way mark.. haha.. mayb cos now i always play throttle, den make the bike heat up quickly lol..

You top up the coolant from the reserve right. Am i correct to say that the reserve will flow to the radiator? Perhaps the flow is not smooth?

this could be possible as well

guess the only way that i can tink of to test if the coolant is flowing/recycling throughout the system will be to drain out some of the coolant frm the radiator? then see if the coolant level in reservoir will drop or not?

my insurance, NTUC, for 1st party for cbr150 which was 5 to 6 yrs ago..

$900..

tat time below 21.. p plate some more..

then i never claim..

and before i sold off the bike..

my insurance,.. every year got rebate..

the last insurance that i paid for the bike was 200 to 300 plus..

and still it was 1st party..

serviced mine in bukit panjang, change to aftermarket parts at bukit batok, small2 items at ah boy.. haha..

tt time the xtra $150 haven't been implemented yet, so tt time the insurance for p plate n non p plate is the same.. btw, mine's 2nd pty, $840 for 1st yr. 2nd yr is $720 cos i didnt claim during my 1st yr.. company is Mitsui Sumitomo..

Hi guys need ur help. I am new to bikes and i wanna buy a cbr125r/150r as a cheap means of transport and a lil good looks. wad is the main diff bet 125 and 150? i understand u say its an xl125 eng but wad does that mean? im 1.7m 70kgs so do u guys think ill look fine with it? and can give me some shops in the east where u think prices are reasonable? and one last thing how much is a cbr125/150 otr? thanks so much sry i have to rush all these questions coz i in ns only come out on weekends
