Let me help him here - CBR150 is a superb sportbike & i love riding 1 .....

Lol... ok lemme rephrase. It would be helpful if you can summarise on the following topics:

  1. Maintenance
  2. Stripping and assembly
  3. Performance
  4. Do's & Don'ts

:)

summarise? no problem. over 'teh ariah' at Al Ameen, your treat? =P

on another note, i don't think i'll buy the rear jack, unless it's not too ex. will probably make a rear support with wood, hammer and nails. i think it's a great idea to copy the motordiam idea of using a car jack to lift the bike, after which i support with my makeshift wooden thingie majiggie.

quite a good idea. after you have done that just tell me. then you'll be ZED MOTORSHOP!!! lol.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I sincerely need your advice. This post is with reference to post number #9982.

Here's what happened.

I parked my bike at the loading and unloading bay at AMK Blk 151. The driver reversed his van and knocked onto my bike causing it to drop on the right side.

Damages are as follows:

  1. Right side of the fairing scratched
  2. Brake lever scratched
  3. Right side mirror scratched
  4. Newly wrapped seat scratched
  5. Balancer scratched
  6. Throttle 'locks' automatically
  7. Speedometer and fuel gauge light bulb blown
  8. Helmet that was hung on the right side scratched and damaged badly

I managed to get the drivers' name card and vehicle number. He admits that it was his fault. At scene were, driver, drivers' wife, my friend and me. We decided to do a private settlement. The driver refused to reveal his insurance company.

Please advice on what i should have done. Thanks in advance.

insurance wise u juz pay lta 5bux i think can check insurance le.. but like u say going private insurance, play no part unless he pay too low.. if idac is free u juz go do a free one lah let them assess if he dun pay juz send to bikeshop or i duno wat other method, but with above u can claim from his insurer.

normal prodecure i think u can juz go idac? but since its a private settle depend how much he willing to pay right? idac is free mah if ur from ntuc the rest i not sure..

will be good to find out how much the lorry driver is willing to fork out. let him know an estimated amount required for repairs. usually drivers agree to pte settle & the next thing u know, they refuse to pay beyond a certain amount in compensation. in this case, it will be easier to refer to case to insurance company & they will do the claiming for you. dont think u need to know the driver's insurance company name. just his particulars will do.

my humble estimation of damages:

  1. Right side of the fairing scratched - $50 for original w/ matching paintwork
  2. Brake lever scratched - $15 for a pair of aftermarket ones
  3. Right side mirror scratched - $40 for original
  4. Newly wrapped seat scratched - $28 for rewrap using plain black leather
  5. Balancer scratched - $10 onwards depending on weight & brand, etc
  6. Throttle 'locks' automatically - probably due to balancer pressing against the return mechanism hence the throttle doesnt retract. hope no damages done to the mechanism & handlebar edge
  7. Speedometer and fuel gauge light bulb blown - strange that bulbs will blow upon dropping bike. the striaght forward way is to take the bulbs out to check if they are blown. $1/bulb. if not, it means u need to embark on a bi.tchy process to trace the fault. probably some loose wiring/connector somewhere. cost will be high as mechanics hate to do electrical troubleshooting.
  8. Helmet that was hung on the right side scratched and damaged badly - on yr own

overall, try to secure $350 bargainable to $300 & case closed.

refer to http://www.singaporebikes.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2920643&postcount=31 for pte settlement form. print 2 copies & fill up. u & the driver each keep a copy. this form ensure that none of u can cry foul after pte settlement and go to the insurer for claims later on. :goodluck:

helmet can be claim if ur going for insurance wise.. but from insurance i think they also count in percentange rite? as in dun they dun let u claim the full cost of above item n such..

helmet wise the 1st time i kana a minor accident, my fullface 400+ was claim back.. but as a total amount with my other claim lor.. but in this case it will also depend how much is ur helmet and state ur case to the driver.. best u go idac for a claim checklist first.. but if ur going to claim his insurance i think u cannot repair first.. that person insurance will need to assess ur damage too..

to those after rear seat racing covers, do check out http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZjayson8916.

price GBP25 is slightly cheaper than the SGD$150 offered from an old thread. shipping costs can be lowered if people do a MO. product is from Thailand.

also available from the same seller is the rear wheel 'hugger'.

You start the MO - many CBR150 riders will buy - i will bring them back for you, i do have regular shipments from BKK.

Happy Hari Raya to all our muslim bikers ..................... as well

He said no need. He doesn't want insurance company to get involved cause i think somehow he's not the one driving. There was this girl with him. He alighted from passenger door but he claims that he driving and he's at fault.

I choose to be kind to him a bit cause he was quite cooperative. So i return the favour. So $350 ok? If ok i go bike shop use this qoute to see can get what can be done. Then i ask him the money.

well, he said he dun wan cuz he's definitely at the losing end, he probably he knows he doesn't have a case against u. the place u parked issit a designated bike park slot?

if u wanna be a nice guy, perhaps u go bike shop first, and asked for quote to repair everything back to original state cost how much, insisting on new parts instead of repairs. then u quote to him lor. see if u all can come to a compromise.

if its $350 i think its a comfortable amount

u may wan to seek opinion from yr usual motorshop to get a quotation to confirm. if the driver willing to pay $350, i think go ahead and settle privately & immediately.

if not, do him a favor by letting him know that u can still claim from his insurance even though he does not revealing his insurer to u.

do not drag the case for too long, if not later insurance company will find yr claims suspicious & end up u r at the losing end.
