well to end all speculation, my accident happened as follows.. it happened along upp changi rd, before the right turn toward changi prison, going straight will be loyang ave-tampines junction.. so its just outside the Changi Green condo, that stretch.. 3 lane road..

i was riding in the first lane (cos middle and 3rd lane got buses going in and out for the bus stops), along a regular road, the sky was clear and road conditions were good (not oily, sandy etc..) traffic condition was normal, not very packed, just the usual few morning cars going to work..

was travelling btw 60 to 70 km/h, then some joker car decided to cut my lane, and suay suay at that moment, an accident happened cos car 1 jammed brake. as all hit together one aft another, i couldnt keep proper distance in time cos it was too quick.. the car cut in my lane, i was cursing and swearing madly, then just nice accident happened almost simultaneously.

i tried to brake but realise its not good enough to stop, so bo pian, i didnt wanna crash straight on (or else my pillion will become stuntman), so i chose to siam.. but by that time couldnt evade liao, so hooked the rear left of the backside.. bike crash, me and pillion flung out sideways onto the middle lane..

fell flat, and rolled a bit.. breath was knocked out of my lungs. tried to get up but pain wrecked my entire right side.. i thought my leg broken lor.. keep thinking to myself, "siao liao lah, this time.." then the prev mentioned scenario of the cars and their drivers checking their own cars.. all on the first lane.

but one kind soul came up to me and ask me how i'm feeling. guess who?

when i was flung into the middle lane,a car behind me had to stop. and HE came down to check how i am. so kind lor.. he could have just changed lanes and carried on going his way.. and it was he who called the ambulance for me, and accompanied me all the way to the hospital u know..

the car which i hit, the driver was female. i was thinking to myself, "bloody hell, i also a female driver lor, how come i dun drive like u.." and she did come over to visit me during the first night i was there. she said she didnt even know that got bike hit her car. of cos lah.. a 2b bike hit u while u were hitting another car in front, which impact is bigger? of cos u cant feel it lor!

so anyway, back to the road.. i was lying there and crying cos i was quite shaken (first accident mah *touch wood* and pls be the last too). the kind guy helped to remove my helmet cos when i tried to do it myself, i realised my hand was bleeding badly.. the middle finger tip was ripped till left a bit of skin, that ripped piece was dangling and could see the bone portruding out. my ring finger tip was broken and my right ankle was deemed as ligament completely snapped. the reason i felt it was so painful like broken like that, was cos of the sudden impact and jerk. Just imagine pulling a rubber band suddenly and very fast and it snapped.

and the best thing was, though i didnt have to pay insurance compensation out of my own pocket, i got slapped with a $200 fine, and i-forgot-how-many demerit points liao. and the car in front of me?

just a warning letter.

i couldn't believe it when the statement came. i was prepared for murder..

Luckily, there is still a kind soul man who is willing to help you. Else, I dont know who will call the ambulance.

Regarding the fine and warning letter, I just could not understand why the rules is extremely unbelievable. Here is one of the most efficient countries in the world with all the most recognized, highly graduated people around. But why the law is just so .......... :sian: :sian: :sian:

Why most people in Asia keep saying this thing? Cant understand ler. Is it true that we are paying just for a paper? Might as well go for holiday. :giddy:

i tink that depends on which part of Asia are u referring to.

some parts, u get to spend some quality time slogging in school before u receive that piece of paper while in other parts, getting the piece of paper is like doing online shopping.

yes that's why.. male or female also must be considerate cos u're using the road the same way as everybody else.. just cos we bikers pay lesser for road tax doesn't mean that we are exposed to less dangers.. in fact, we're in a more dangerous position and exposed to rain, sun, etc while the drivers get to enjoy air con and windscreen wiper when it rains.. i do drive a car, but maybe cos i'm a biker by nature and passion, i understand and are more giving to them when i'm driving on the road..

i am just scared of riding.. so i need to go out more often with the bike to overcome it! seriously got a phobia.. still sends me the shivers when i recall abt the accident and the pain and blood.. and pple with more important priorities than the injured on the road.. but i cant help it cos a bike makes so much more sense, financially.. saving time is secondary, cos i'm afraid of speeding anyway, but u cant deny that it helps u avoid jams if u travel in between slowly.. safety first!

we should form a safe riding club for bikes! carry banner and ride on the roads to raise awareness or something.. LOL

anyway, my two cents on s'poreans.. this is just a general address, not to particular riders or drivers.. but the culture here..

pple here are just impatient on the roads, we always seem to be rushing somewhere.. a little jam, or slow, and we all get frustrated.. cos life is jsut so hectic here, and every minute is money, so spending time on the roads is just a waste of time (and money). little bit only angry, and when roads clear up, must speed up to make up for lost time.. look at other countries, no need to look so far, our neighbouring countries can liao.. they have a less developed transport infrastructure and traffic jams are a common sight.. but the accident rate there is much lower than ours, despite our highways, proper lanes, traffic lights, traffic crossings.. why are we still having a higher traffic accident rate than theirs? i guess we will never understand..

plus, our culture when we are growing up, leads us to developing a character that's selfish.. everything is kiasu, kiasee, kiabo.. in the sense of a road user, ur car is bigger than any bike, in terms of beauty, cost, and even the right to use the road..

i've listened to incidents when cars drive very near to bikes, pushing them almost to the sidewalk kerb liao.. and as they go past, they wind down the window and scold the bikes and say "get off the road lah! u have no right to be on the road! etc.." this is a very selfish statement, and a condescending one too.. how can u look down on two-wheelers just cos we are smaller and cheaper in cost of purchase and maintenaince? with that kind of mindset (constant rush and despise), they already feel that we dun deserve to use the road already, much less if we're on the first lane on the expressway!

it never occured to them that some of us ride bikes just cos we have a passion for riding, and choose to leave the cars at home unless its raining, and not cos we cant afford it? does it really take a biker to know and understand another biker's worries, risk-takings, fears and rights on the road??

so anyway, if u're a biker, just be careful on the roads.. remember that safety always comes first.. never fight with another vehicle to save face.. we'll always be a loser even in the slightest accidents (just look at my case.. by the way, those cars only had scratches, not even dents.. in the driving sense, that is considered a minor accident).

as for drivers who obviously have no bike license otherwise they will surely understand us, we can only avoid them as much as possible..

but don't you feel that there are some schools that are slightly easier to pass? and why do these schools cost more than government recognized colleges? it's no secret, you know.

bro, any bike shop will carry that bike, as far as i know.. and every biker will say that their bike shop is good cos we're regulars and therefore those bike shops have earned our trust in terms of service, quality and affordability..

i'm sure my brothers here will agree with that..

most importantly, just go down with a friend together to whichever bike shop they recommend, and i'm sure they will make sure that the shop gives u a fair deal.. after all, we're fellow bikers here and we will help each other out whenever possible..

right guys??

if most people say it, there must be some truth to it.

if everybody say that chicken rice stall not nice to eat, you'd think twice about patronizing it too.

ditto. these people just enjoy slapping themselves in their face and asking why it hurts.

btw, they're rushing to get reincarnated, so let them be.

yes. i seem to be doing well, but i know that if i had landed up in one our our local Unis, i'd probably be first from last.

that's taking the easy way out, and leaving your parents to suffer with the burden of 2-3 times the school fees. =(

indeed. that's an understatement in fact, more of rushing to to give birth.. :giddy: though we must not neglect the fact that there are are bikers who ride like the road belongs to them and all.. it makes the drivers frustrated and angry.. it will take two hands to clap, but i definitely cast my vote that there are more inconsiderate and selfish drivers than crazy riders who don't care for their lives.

hahaha yes i agree.

only a fellow with class 3 and class 2B will truly understand what a biker is thinking for his next step otr.

there's simply nothing we can do be it for now or in the future, we're so small as compared to those cars. no matter what we're always at the losing end.

just a point like, sometimes if you travel slower. it is more likely to cause an accident than when you are travelling faster. :D

if there's an ass out there that's trying to put my life on the table. i'll make sure i find out where he live and  to his ride

just take everything easy on the road with a pinch of salt and slow down whenever it is neccessary.

kifakw
