Wait. Now I wonder whether ur bike or the needle struggling to climb up? Try this out, ride at 5th gear until the speedo reach 80kph. Then you change to 6th gear, when ur rpm reach 8k but ur speedo does not even touch 100kph, then really got problem alrdy. Try this when u r in very empty road huh. Careful... :goodluck:

Mine, the most 7.5k rpm can reach 100kph alrdy, and I know others 7k rpm can reach 100kph alrdy.

... that only leaves me with riding in the wee hours lor.. :faint:

boring

my cbr150 will be spending its 3rd day at planet workshop liao

1st day witness them take out the entire engine off the bike and then stripping the top part to take out timing chain.

as expected, my piston is chao tar after doing 94,000KM on the odometer.

so new piston + ring, tensioner, timing chain, timing chain related bracket.

yet to determine the total damage to be done to my pocket.

wish me luck for tmr guys!

by the way, what does timing chain do??

oh ya, another noob qtn: do our bikes come with spare fuel tank? if yes, what's the capacity? and how do we know that the main fuel is used up and its going on reserve??

today i went to pump fuel, needle at the last quarter (with is half red line), i only managed to pump 5+ litres, until the bar covered.. is that normal??

you everyday eat vegetarian at home see can tahan not...

in the end David also came down, then we went Mustafa buy electro-pneumatic horn.

Posted

there will be a electro-pneumatic horn DIY session on one weekend in the month of June.

we will be installing the Stebel TM80/2 Magnum, available at Mustafa for $19.50. this horn is legal, as it does not use compressed air, and many of it's CBR150 users have passed Vicom tests with it.

a date and time will be set closer to June, all you need to do is to buy the horn and set aside one Saturday or Sunday. venue will be Hillview, west side.

feel free to post questions.

woah

yrs also high mileage bike

i duno the chim mechanics of how the timing chain works. but rough idea is that it controls the opening and closing of intake and exhuast valves of our DOHC engine.

picture it as the chain running thru 3 sprockets/gears.

ah chong (boss of planet) was still telling me that cbr150 is a good bike to be able to tahan until 94,000km w/o any major servicing done. he cant say the same for phantom200 though. he claims usually ta200 get towed to his workshop by the time they reach 45,000km.

:cheeky:

i suspect the fuel meter for our bike is highly inaccurate. i.e. u can still clock quite a distance after the needle reaches the end of the red color portion on the fuel gauge. but i try not to push my luck. :p

u all dint consider the stebel nautilus? i.e. the big rounded red color one.

heard some gd comments on its loudness.

maybe can try to pass it off as a speaker during inspection also :cheeky:

im getting the timing chain replaced (cause of the high mileage). read that the timing chain should be replaced at 100,000km intervals. i c some posts in other forums which even recommended change at 80,000km.

but getting access to the entire timing chain involves some brutal stripping of the top engine. so i thought might as well change the piston and ring as well (since the piston will be exposed during the process of getting to the timing chain and i wouldnt expect the piston to be in a gd condition frm the high mileage also).

a snapped timing chain can potentially damage the valves and engine block which can render an overhaul necessary (warning: extreme damage to pocket!).

thats why i adopted a spend-small-money-to-save-big-money mentality for this one. :p

that big one comes in a single instead of dual piece i think.

can try fitting right smack in front of the bike (just like those avoid evil kind of 8sided mirrors chinese pple use for their homes). :p
