inspection fails never mind that once a year but dont oe if TP will disturb u or not

colours of light is important n the road

red always stop

yellow either slow down and proceed or red light is coming

is it possible for me to make the signal light always on? and i dont want it to be orange, i want it to be red. can be done? can can? yes/ no?

yup. u will require a pilot light conversion device if u intend for the front signal lights to blik and function as per normal.

after fixing the device, u can choose to switch on or off the pilot lights during normal riding (with the normal signal light operations as per normal).

the next difficulty will be to find T10 sized 12V10W bulbs in red color.

so far i have seen them only in normal yellowish color and orange color.

we cant use bulbs of other wattage rating (e.g. 5W) as the signal light relay will be affected and the signal lights wont blink when switched on.

only problem is that i fly if i were to hit a bump at high speeds.

This is what Im refering to. :D

here is Axxis comments:

'You don't get much of an engine braking effect on a Single cyl 150cc Engine. It's much more noticeable on bigger engines. However, that said, using engine braking is a very important and useful part of riding. (even on small bikes)

Eg. If I'm riding and approaching a distant red light and therefore don't have to stop in a hurry I will always use the engine braking to slow the bike down instead of hitting the brakes. Just shift down through the gears one at a time letting the engine slow the bike. Not too rapidly. Big downshifts (multiple gears) can cause the back wheel to

lock. (although probably not on your bike) This technique is used when riding motard to get the rear to slide into corners.

So basically I would say use it but don't use heavy engine braking (2 gear shifts down type stuff) which causes the engine to rev harder unless it's really necessary. Once again it's worthwhile to use it enough to become familiar with it so that you can use it in hard braking... the kinda hard braking that's not quite e-braking but close.'

i trust his knowledge and believe what he says. if you trust me, then you trust him. =P

I dono its my English problem or u r the one who didnt answer the main concern (FC). Its not the matter of trust or not, I myself do believe that EB is the most effective brake on a vehicle. :D

Erh.... EB will never lock ur wheel no matter how many gears down u use for EB, unless the engine stalled. Correct me if Im wrong.

inspection fails never mind that once a year but dont oe if TP will disturb u or not

Inspection once a year? I hv nvr go inspection ler, more than a year liao. Advice me pls.... Else I dont know when I should go for inspection.... :help: :help: :help:

i also feel EB is very effective. stronger than brakes.

will lock wheels wan ah?

inspection no need to worry, they will send u letter to ask u to go. i think first year no need, hit 2nd year like that then have. slowly wait for letter lah.. last time i ride one year plus also no letter, so i think 2nd year then have.

For those complaining about high petrol prices in Singapore, some European (Dutch) prices as per today:

Euro 95: 1.54 Euro/Litre (= 3.28 SGD/Litre)

Diesel: 1.32 Euro/Litre (= 2.81 SGD/Litre)

Just to put matters in perspective!

Now driving my mum's car for time being, managed to squeeze efficiency to 18 clicks per litre but still hurts like hell every time I fill up. Since driving about 65 clicks one way to work every day... u do the math

Btw, EB rocks... even for small bikes

actually you can't really compare petrol prices with direct currency conversion to sgd.

in euro, they may earn like $1500 euro but pays $1.54 for a litre of petrol whereas in singapore you may earn $1500 sgd as well but pays $2.22 for a litre of petrol.

(all of the above figures which are excluding income tax etc)

and yes there are places in the world whereby petrol are 10cent a litre, and costs up to as high as $4 sgd a litre. i forgot the site whereby i read from.

woah 18 clicks per litre, that's a very fuel efficient piece of engineering. what car you driving and what's your driving style?

kifakw

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car

and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.

Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall,

torque is how far you take the wall with you.

T10 red LEDs?

but the wattage only 1watt leh.

u've got the answer bro

those T10 wedge LEDs do not offer the same wattage requirements as the original signal light bulbs.

one possibility is to change the signal light relay.

but main problem is that the relay is located at the rear tailboards, making it a total bi.tch to change the relay especially for pple w/ rear spoilers like me.

answer is yes and no.

no because we using manual clutch for our bikes.

unless we throw clutch immediately after shifting down a few gears, wheel locking from excessive down gearing shouldnt take place. this is with the general assumption that we are smart enough to hear the engine screaming w/ rising RPMs when we gradually release the clutch lever.

yes if we are referring to semi-auto bikes like some models of cub like Honda Wave. yrs truly have got 1st time experience with momentary wheel locking + hear rear tyre screech when i downgear instead of upgear (thanks to the reverse gear shift system of these bikes). such semi-auto bikes do not offer the convenience of half-clutching as easily. hence, the reason why i mention throw clutch in the above para for manual clutch bikes.

:cheeky:

david: annual inspection for motorcycles only applicable starting from 3years from date of registration. meaning, new bike doesnt need to go inspection for 1st 3 years. after which, will be yearly inspection.

Last time I like to & always use engine brake, but ever since I read this webby regarding FC and also W&T, Im stopping using EB. But still using it for emergency cases.

I dono its my English problem or u r the one who didnt answer the main concern (FC).[/color]

why engine braking will affect FC?

engine braking is fun to play wif n but not excessive engine braking lah

sorry, i mean side stand. R1 got no main stand.

haha, i stunned for a moment

HI Guys !!.. Anyone can explain about EB? How to use step by step n at any condition? thanks in advance.

When u running at any gear (except 1st), u down 1 gear & then let go the clutch. U will get used to it.

Normally its used when we turning a sharp corner (to slow down b4 turning) or emergency brake (down more gears).

Its good to learn this since our rear brake is disc type 1. For the drum type 1, its easier to use the brake when we turning sharp corner. This is in my opinion only. :cheer:

Sorry but I don't agree. Salaries in Europe are not one-to-one Euro to SGD if you compare jobs. Its more like a direct conversion. And like you indicate, the taxes make it worse in Europe because I pay a lot more taxes here. In the end I have much less cash in hand and then you really feel the pinch when the petrol is so expensive. Luckily I'm still in a small country but of course compared to Singapore, the distances are much bigger. The 65 clicks I do one way for my work are quite common.

18 clicks is not bad for a Kia Rio. Its a piece of Korean crap but if you don't race/revv it and keep the top speed at 100 kph rather than the 120 kph official speed limit, you can get quite far. Will be buying a nice small diesel car soon. Can reach 20 clicks per litre and pay less for diesel so every way win.

engine braking kicks in the moment u close yr throttle (when the bike is on the move) w/o touching the clutch lever.

this can take place in any gear. u can increase the engine braking effect by gearing down as mentioned by David. but do note that anything in excess is no good. basically, the lower the gear u r in, the greater the engine braking effect.

usage of this engine braking effect is up to individuals.

some use it to improve cornering, some as an additional braking effect to front & rear brakes, etc.

i do remember the instructors in BBDC teaching us to use combination of both engine brake and front/rear brakes especially during wet weather. (i.e. we were taught not to clutch in fully until nearing complete stop)

reason being excessive braking may lead to tyre skid and engine braking can help us moderate the usage of front & rear brakes.

I believe its half paint & half sticker. Zed got lobang for 07 version sticker just for 18 or 28bucks (forgot). Paint the whole bike (copy from 07 black) & put the sticker. Done, the bike become 07 version alrdy. :D

Yeap, exactly. From the chasis, we know its not 07 version.
