i have never used expensive brands of steel braided hoses like HEL, etc so cant comment much on them.

for cheapo aftermarket hoses, they don't really improve much of braking effect (if they ever do at all).

 

the reason why i got them is a combination of cosmetic and preventive measure. the preventive measure part came from some article or hearsay i heard before on rubber hoses. dont quote me on this. but what i heard/read was that with long term usage, rubber hoses will start to weaken and expand slightly when brakes are depressed. this expansion somewhat reduces the brake oil pressure delivered between brake pump to calipers and result in weakened braking power.

 

maybe we should do a poll. does this make sense to u guys?

 

zed told me the same thing, he said

 

normal brake hoses will expand upon hard braking.. so what you get is not a smooth braking curve.

 

whereas, his brembo coupled with a steel braided allows him to have a better braking curve.. no need to press abit no power.. then press more suddenly lock wheels kinda situation.

 

thats why i wanna go and make also. cos my rear really CMI. duno is it the pads or what.

 

 

 

here are some of the discussion earlier on. btw i installing HEL brakehoses. hope it helps. Zeddo told me it worked well and it has constant braking instead of a sudden surge.

my front brakes are working fine too.... just less sensitive as zed's front brake. the difference between mine and his is that mine ... u gotta press a little harder to feel the braking effect.

Maybe your one still new la.. I can't rmb saw who's brake.. Its so damn new and clear that i can even see through whats insde the resevior .. damn new n clean..

 

MY front are relatively good.. but i hate it when i press it suddenly jerks. and the rear is like walking free frag.. must press relatively hard.

 

but up to you lo. 130 aint THAT cheap. but.. looks great so GO FOR ME! and also exhances performance then ok la.

i went to change brake pads today at LAB. stock Honda pads, $20 inclusive labour.

 

but still like no effect leh.

the effect is not immediately seen for new pads. try waiting for the top layer to wear off first?

yes, cos wandi traded in his CBR, and used the remainder for downpayment. Then he also loaned for 6 years. Thus chalk up to 20K lor. cos of interest, and stuff liek tat

can try but no guarantee.. if all else fail. i duno liao.. then i think u must get BREMBO DISC BRAKE ROTORs [disc brake the disc.]

I dont let my bike play hard so no need to relax hard... everyday travel about 44km...speed about 90 to 110... I find 1 day go buy all the bike shampoo and wax... :angel:

anyway today i went to unique motor and did my HEL brakehose..

 

Got a good news and bad news. Good news is, i done up my brake hose and it EATS damn well V power.. on the way home i tried my brakes GP style and the wheel locked and a nice screeching sound!

 

bad news is, i ended up repairing another thing on my bike which means more $$. In our master cylinder, there is a rubber and a spring assembly inside. Upon depression of the foot brake, the spring will compress and let DOT 4 flow into the caliper.

 

So, when the mech took out mine to check, its damn well busted. The rubber is not in proper shape, the side wall of the master cylinder is abit corroded but can be washed off. he showed me that by replacing the rubber and spring assembly, it will restore the usual braking power which zed refers to the proper curve, not when press abit no feel press alot suddenly lock situation.

 

Then when the mech removed the front brakes and cleaned the resevior, same story. But the front one is much more nightmare. The DOT fluid is like milo peng + teh-o peng + plain water. Even the screws are pretty much rusted and stuck. he took out the resevior to clean and wash. [i was tempted to change into something like zed's resevior.but i got no $$ ] Ya so, the package he gave me is the HEL brake hose @ 130 n replace the parts in the brakes which cost me 40 each side.

 

 

After replacing, the braking performance did improve. and pumping the brakes a few times, the braking power become uber 'eat' I went home and chiong down the slope, and did a outer line hard brake and lean left turning..

 

The last time i braked that hard before the change of cable.. the bike cant even stop on time, as of now... I braked as hard, and before i could even bank left i can hear the scrrreeeechh..

 

power liao lar.. hahah so maybe u guys with bikes more than 3 YO, try to check out the brake master cylinder the inside components.. cos mine is REALLY messed up. After all safety first.

 

As for zed, maybe u might wanna try go shop and ask for servicing of rear brake. which include rebleed, new pads, check inside the mastercylinder got what problem or things need to change.
