"Tian Xia Fu Mu Xin" la...but if you really wan...talk it out with them. Give your parents some time to let the idea sink in. It's more about wat you want as a young adult, not so much of "permission"...you dun need a "consent form" to sign up at the centres.

Of cos different family got different style of "descipline"....my generation maybe abit more "traditional"...father say NO means NO...he rode a RXS, say the road very dangerous...so verbal turned physical...plastic chair fly from kitchen to living room ( at me )...but later things calm down...i got my licence....father make noise again...i stupid ask him to top me up to buy KR150 (3k+)...more arguement...end up use all my savings buy RG125 (1.3K...tink i was chopped by bike shop...later mother re-inburse me $500...probably from father one la :p)

But the beauty of this story is, 6 months later, during BMT, i skidded during wkend and bike needed repair (cannot change gear). He settled for me everything...next weekend got bike to ride again.

That was in 1994. i'm sure parents these days are more understanding so your "confrontation" should be less drama...i hope. :)

DO. Or DO NOT. There is no TRY.

bro touch wood, touch parquet, touch jelutong, if you get involved in an accident even if minor how? Must use edusave..ur edusave got money or not? if no money must either pay cash or use immediate sibling's edusave...ur parents sure will eventually find out u got bike license...im speaking base on experience..i had my motor license with mom's approval but not dad...he didnt know about it until i i was involved in a mini incident when i had to go hospital..my edusave not enough end up use my dad's one...my dad scold my mom then scold me until now dont want to talk to me :( haha

if u really want to ride bike without parents knowing abt it,

be calm at all condition during riding..

cos i hav come across where my childhood friend skid and went sell salted eggs cos he saw his mother at a traffic light junction while he made a turn..

imagine how his mother feel that time when she saw her own son riding and skidded..

So your dad also like my father type. There comes a time when the lion cub must challenge the dominant male for supremecy...maybe thats the wrong analogy...but you get wat i mean right?

Ask yourself, is it something worth standing your ground?

Back then, i asked myself:

-do i want to wake up 2 hours b4 lesson to walk 15min then catch a crowded bus from BoonKeng to Bukit Timah?

The answer was clear to me.

Avoiding the controntation now is just a delay tactic. And i dun tink its about

i have friends who obtained their license already parents still do not know. but havent buy bike la. if you got the $$, hard for them to find out. just put the helmet in the box or clip it to your bike. park a few carparks furthur away. ride insanely SAFELY. dont try to be funny. they also cannot find out. or get tinted visor helmet. even if they see you on the road, cannot recognize. LOL.

400 bucks enough la. if you take a long installment scheme. but i find it super not worth. eg. 2k bike becomes close to 3k.

at first my parents dont allow also but i kept persuading until they gave in. even help me full cash my bike for me first. i rather give them the interest than give the bikeshop earn frm me for nothing.

i gt a friend that had his license discretely. The day after he pass his license straight away buy bike from motordiam w/o parents knowing it. In the end parents sense that he's riding. Confronted and cold war for 1 mth + -_- After the one month, they started talking and everything goes as per normal. Afterall you're their son/daughter, thus no parent gonna disown someone they love. Talk it out.. best to let them know before taking ur license.

**or you can always be like a bike-paranoid at home. when you hear a bike zoom off your block, juz put your head out. Take your bolster and sit on it with a makeshift helmet. Blast motoGP videos on computer. Paste posters of Valentino Rossi on ur bedroom walls. Then your parents would notice what u really want and give it to you...LOLx :faint:

Great Idea!! and buy alot of helmets, accessories to fill up ur room too! but if ur parents still cannot get it, get a old scooter,eg vespa (waiting to be scraped, real one, ) dismantle and fix it in ur room. Sit on it whenever they are around. also to shout, "vrrooom, vrrroooom" here and there. make sure that u can be heard. Confirm ur parents know what u want lah. or if ur parents bring a medium to ur room.. saying u r possessed by "bike spirit" .. guess they are heading towards the wrong direction..... LOLS :faint:

there's no way you can keep them in the dark for long. my mum caught me carrying helmet, coming back home late at night after 2 months. now all she say is ride safely.
