hi guys and gals,

i`m interested to buy a C14,

however i`m rather worried cuz it`s a kawa,

not worried abt the perfomance, but rather the spare parts..

will it be v hard to buy any spareparts or aftermarket parts??

PS. i know the RPR is $30000, just wana know how u all paid for ur bike?

i was told and approx value,

Down 5K, monthly 780 for 3 yrs OR

Down 5k, monthly 380 for 7 yrs.

still rather stuck between the choices,

will be keeping til motor doesnt run. so not afraid of depreciation

PS, just hope u all might give a fair comment on STX,FJR and C14

rather stuck btw these 3. Pricing all almost the same so i`m not really concerned. Thanks in advance

spare parts could be a problem if you have an accident because any dealer will not stock them, market is way too small for GTR 1400.

But with a drive shaft, you will save a lot on maintenance and if you plan ahead for spare parts than needs to be changed anyway then you should be OK.

The main difference between FJR and STX is the drive shaft, then it will come down to personal preference, they all are good bikes.

Overall very happy with riding the GTR 1400

If you ride a GTR or ZZR 1400 we want to hear from you at www.kawa1400.blogspot.com

hi...

thx for the comments that u all have.

i`m not very tall, another concern is the seat height.

i tried sitting on one in a bike shop,

at straight, i`m only tip toeing (170 height )

is it even possible to reverse at all????

is it hard to handle the height and weight for such bikes??

thanks for looking and answering such noobie questions..

I agree with the less maintenance, at the start when the bike is new.

No chain to wax, clean, no sprocket to clean, no chain to tighten and rim to clean wax off.

But after say,30,000 kms, theres bound to be wear n tear in the shaft, wont parts, and repairing it cost more than a chain and sprocket set up to replace?

Most chains and sprockets cost maybe about $300-$500 at most to replace?

Anyone done shaft overhaul before?

shaft is still shaft... ever hear of FJR changing shaft before?(personally, i never heard of)

the GTR is a upgrade of the Concours1000... Kawa choppers are shaft driven...

Kawa used to have a model known as Voyager in the 80s. It is a shaft driven tourer similar to Homda GL. For shaft driven bike u need to change shaft oil which is quite cheap....so major maintenance won't come from the shaft

anyway, i miss wildcard.

yes shaft is still shaft

im not saying kawa shaft is kayu

my point is, its not just the shaft, but other related components that may need replacing. just enquiring abt prices now not when things dont go right and get a scare :giddy:

compared to normal chain driven bike, replacement is mainly front, rear sprocket and chain.

just comparing cost between the 2.

for my pass rides, i need to change my sprockets and chain every 20k.

for the GTR, it states in the manual that the oil needs to be change every 12k.

unless you dun look after your shaft, i dun think there will be any problem for your shaft to last a life time... (which i dun think i will be keeping this ride for more then 5yrs)

Well, defining the time line of your ownership against major servicing is another good way at looking at costing!! hahaha :p
