Steps to follow when selling a laid up bike

Hi,

My second bike is currently lay up (COE finishing in October 2015) and I want to give it to a friend.

 

Can some one help with the order of the steps I have to follow to complete this transaction:

 

1.Tow bike for inspection and buy road tax.

2.Ask my friend to buy insurance.

3.Reinstate the bike from lay up back to normal.

4.Transfer ownership to my friend.

 

Is that the correct order? Have I missed any step?

After reading a bit more about it I believe first step is to get my friend to buy insurance first. Anyway still have some questions ....

 

Step by step:

 

1. My friend get the insurance.

2.Tow bike to inspection centre, pass inspection and buy road tax.

 

Question: After completing the above 2 steps. Can my friend ride the bike from the Inspection centre already?

 

3.Go to LTA to process the ownership transfer from me to him.

 

Question: Need to complete any form to end lay up period or once road tax is paid the lay up period is automatically over?
