Buying a used bike with expired Road Tax

I'm a bit confused as to what the proper procedure is when buying a bike with valid COE but expired Road Tax (RT). I guess legally I'm not allowed to drive it until it has new RT? So I buy the bike, leave it at the previous owner, take the bike's papers to LTA and pay for RT.. then come back and pick up the bike? Or does the bike require inspection first before I can get the RT renewed? If so, how to get the bike to inspection

 

Anyone who has experience with such a purchase; I would very much appreciate it if you could share the proper steps

1. Have you done your transfer at LTA? if yes, the bike now is under your name, you have to pay for the late payment of the road tax.

 

2. First, you may check up from the One Motoring is the bike need inspection, if need, than you need to can the bike shop to do it for you. To renew the RT, you need the insurance to cover.

Transfer of ownership is disallowed if road tax is expired.

 

Meaning, the road tax must be renewed first. And for that to happen, if the bike requires inspection then it must be towed to inspection centre to be inspected first.
