Hi All

I'm Steven, i'm getting my vtec3 this friday hopefully, been waiting for almost a week to collect it. I was wondering if i could get a few tips on care and maintenance of the bike from you experienced people. I stopped riding for about one and a half years and i've forgotten alot of things. I would like to join you'll for this DIY session and learn about bike care i guess?

As for engine oil the rating of 10w40, is it synthetic? Should i be maintaing the bike with fully synthetic EO?

What other things should i look out for to keep the bike running well?

Last question, for engine run in, what do you'll suggest, manufacturer's advice or a hard run in, running through all the gears at the different speed ranges?

Please correct me if i'm wrong, from a run in website on one of the links, it was advised to change to 10w40 engine oil straight away with a new filter and use this for 2500km b4 changing to fully synthetic oil. And during the run in period i should be accelarating hard decelerating hard as well. I dont know if my understanding is correct, can someone please advise. Thanks

I'm living in woodlands is there a S4 group in the area.

Sorry for the long post.

Thanks

hi welcome,

1st of all. we are all learning from ea other. :cheeky:

basic stuff i would recommened u to take que from the manufacturer handbook. ie user hand bk.

hard run in is only heard from the racing world nt in my small world knowledge... of basic riding.

basic run in for me. does not recommened or say is the best.

0-499 using the original eo inside

500-800 change to mineral oil change oil filter

801-1200 change to semi

1201-2000 change semi. change oil filter

> change fully

i take 2000 to run in. after which is still worries another 1000 then fully ie 3000 then change fully.

i am using 15W50 fuch fully with ester base still okie for me. already did 24000km within 10mth!!!! nbz... dun noe how i travel also. ave 2 mth change eo. siong

after fully run in i change eo as follows

every 5K eo change

every 10K eo + oil filter + plug

every 15K clean air filter and flush coolant. i also bleed my brake hose then too.

Thanks so much, very enlightened now. At least now i have a proper idea of how to run in the bike. So during the DIY sessions do you do all these things? What do i need to bring or get to these things? ie tools and such?

Thanks once again, you've been a great help
