Hi, everyone. I'm planning to self-spray my header, and just got myself a can of black high temp paint from the hardware shop.

Was searching the older posts, and read that there were DIY sessions some time back for spraying of header. Like to seek some advice about the process and how to dismantle the header from those we have done it before.

If anyone else is interested to spray their headers together, let me know, I don't mind sharing the paint :p

Posted

Usually it takes me the whole can to spray the whole header evenly... :)

Thanks! Just did the spraying of the header yesterday, used up almost one full can. Actually it wasn't that hard to remove the header, just need lots of patience and sweat...took me in total about 2 hours to dismantle, sandpaper away the rust, spray and put back :) But very happy with the end result, no more ugly looking header!

Posted

how about taking some pictures to share? i dunno how to take out the header, not sure if its worth the effort to take out and spray it.. heard it wont last long..

I also didn't know how to take out, i just unscrew all the things that can be unscrewed, and took the whole thing. After spraying, just put back everything. If anyone is interested, I can post more detailed instructions. Will try to take some pictures later, and post here.

To me it is definitely worth it, can't stand the "burnt" and discoloured look of the header before spraying, now it looks sleek and clean. Just need about 2 hours, and $12 for high temp spray paint :)

haha yeah i understand the feeling.. the look of the discoloured headers.. 2 hours? no primer? how many coats of spray you applied?
