Wow i am really impressed with your knowledge of all this race things....seriously speaking i know ... nuts .......

I am just waiting for VR to change to other Bike ..... It will be interesting.

I believe he is kinda piss with yamaha at the moment.

Rossi is sure getting lots of set back this yr, with Michelins and Yammie. But the fact that he is facing the challenges makes him who he is, a 7 time world champion. This is still the 1st yr of the 800cc, it definately did not work like magic for Rossi when he jump ship from Honda to Yammie that time which he manage to get championship winner back to back on 2 different bikes.

He will still be on Yammie next yr, that's his contract. I hope Lorenzo dun give Rossi too much problem in the same team though, lol. And not forgetting on Yammie Team B factory bike, we have another strong rider James Toseland, who is about to get his WSBK World title this yr.

Aiyah, all my info are from internet, and right now still jobless, very free.

All facts point to ------> Impossible  Stoner is too strong a package this year.....too many facts to deny him of the championship.

Aiyah, give and take a bit, since it's Ducati, Bridgestone and Stoner's 1st World Title  Next year would be a blast! New riders, new shuffles, 1 more crazy rider (Lorenzo, cannot stand him, so ego), hope of better Michelins, hope of better Yammie and Honda.

Marco should let us see how another talented rider would perform on the same package of Stoner.

I was hoping Nicky and Dani to change bike though....all facts point to ------> Impossible also  I also have fantasies like yours too

Yes, yes.....lots of our parents still have stigma about racing. Not blaming them, but that's how they are educated. However, the younger generations do not think it this way, but regard it as a healthy but expensive sports. Most would walk the road of a privateer to have a taste of it. A local track and a proper funded organisation would definately help, but it's not within our control.

I seen a Discovery episode about North Korea, it's like the days in the Ancient Dynasty....the President is like God and he could control the fate of your whole family. We are still lucky no matter what.

I now reside in States where everyday there's gun shooting, worrying about someone mugging me and crack addicts looking for bikes to saw off the sparkplugs. It is definately true that if I have no business, certain places are best not to be at when nightfalls. I miss SG where I could hang out anywhere, even the streets where the most gangster lurks but yet I know I could get home safely.

Makes me wonder what Motor Culture Asia is doing? Or is it exclusively a 2 wheel concept?

If it is Singapore based, which I think it is, they should take up this idea and run with it.

If not, stop reading here and delete my post.

Who knows? They might help give him some exposure, which may lead to him being discovered. That would give the mag some exposure too, along with some credentials. Foreign Mags would fight over such rights.

Before you say:"Come'on, this is Singapore, it does not happen here..."

Then I guess it will NEVER happen if we all have that kinda mindset.

Why do people make it big? Cos they follow their dreams and keep a stiff upper lip against criticism. Be a Pioneer, an entrepreneur, all because thats not how people do it, does not make it wrong (in business);

Looking at all the serious riders, I bet you that at least half of them (me included) are praying every single day, that somehow, through some fluke, they make their dream come true; although many (again myself included) will tell you that we dont expect to get far.

Look at the commitment that some of the riders have. Amba has invested SO much in racing, broken bones, spilled blood and probably suffered much financial hemmorhaging. But he REFUSES to give up (he is plain stubborn), and is still going strong.

I was shocked when I saw him race in Asia Pac so soon after breaking his collarbone. THAT IS COMMITMENT.

Alvin #31 is another. Zero showboating, zero trash talk, pure riding. It took him 2 years to get back to where he was after crashing real bad at PG. (He cannot even remember what happened and his leg and bike were totalled) Most would have given up. (Alvin is not stubborn, he is just dumb. HAHAHAHAH KIDDING!!!)

And yet, even with the bitter truth stuck in their minds, that it might as well be impossible to be like Troy Bayliss (from Clubman to WSBK), or even gain anything but a memory from racing; they still put everything, and every cent on that start line.

Would you?

Lesser men than these 2 would have given up. Thats what I call passion.

I remember MCA sending a mass email, which I think lacks a little sincerety; about wanting to contribute to the mag. My guess is not many people responded, personally, I did not respond as I honestly do not have the time to write up an article for events attended. I would love to, but time = money = racing, and I barely have enough time as it is.

One thing that I was disappointed with when I saw the recent issue, was that the MSS was covered with minimal involvement. Newspapers sell because they have the inside news, not because they repeat facts like results and stuff you can find on the internet.

I would rather hear about it from a friend over a cuppa...

(This part may come off looking like I have an ulterior motive, but I really do speak for more than one person when I say this:)

We have so many Singaporeans taking part in the MSS, which can be easily reached for interviews and stuff. Doctor Dol, Alvin #31, Alvin R6, Amba, Alan Cheong, Martin, Milton, Wayne, Diraj, Thamo and even a huge group of 6 -7 riders from Speedway Motors (led by Jimmy, my 600cc Pasir Gudang Bumper Car partner - we had some good scraps eh Jim?!)- sorry if I missed some out, but even this is huge mag potential for MCA. Racers all know each other and who is to say that you could not get Panjang or Brent Odgers or Kuhara for small talk?

Imagine this, 2008 MSS coverage of 5 rounds, with an inside scoop from 2 racers for each round. I WOULD BUY THAT. You could even run side bar stories on the support teams like Bike Lab Traxxion Dynamics, U-Racing Nilai & Sporting Motors. These people are easy to reach.

Who knows what more an EDITOR or Creative Director could think of in the 2 minutes it took me to come up with that.

Before anyone comes out to say: "Then why dont you tell MCA to do that? Or even volunteer yourself or someone else for an interview or something?"

Come on, we are Asian and are by nature, much more humble/introvertive (some people more than others) and will seldom come out and say:"ME! ME! ME!" Who can honestly tell me that they are proud to have got an interview because they persuaded/told them to.... get real.

Besides, thats MCAs job.

Anyhow, thats journalism, get out there and look for the scoop, scoops dont come to you or reply to mass emails. Get in there, rub shoulders with the riders and be in the circle.

Re-invent things. The only reason why Mags cant survive is that they are making the same mistakes as the ones before them. Ads dont sell, they pay the rent. Content makes you rich.

Apologies, but when you have some guy, who knows nothing about Motorcycles, riding around in a shirt around Marina South telling me what he thinks about the latest bike, I might as well be asking my Grandma. That impression has stuck in my head. Sorry, but first impressions last, and yes, (just like LKY) I am rude when I have to be.

I know MCA or some people may be annoyed with me for saying what I have, but personally thats my view and I am not afraid to say it, or suffer any reprisal. I got knives in my back already from enemies still pretending to be friends ("frenemies"), you can have the thigh. As long as it is taken constructively, I am happy. If not, so be it.

Lastly, this is not some desperate, twisted, reverse psycholigized tactic to end up on the cover, I have enough pictures of myself.

HAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!

****, look at the time... later guys.

Hart,

Well said and I fully concur your statement.

And if you notice, the media be it the national channel and pay per view which includes ESPN, StarSports etc etc still show much coverage about F1, A1 and GOLF.

WSBK are not shown anymore.

MOTO GP...only the actual race are being shown.

These TV stations don't even show the MOTO GO qualifying like they show for F1.

Then we go to Sepang.. you can see the crowd are bigger for F1. And very much small for MOTO GP.

The best part..the F1 ticket is more expansive compared to MotoGP ticket...yet less people come and watch.

Why?

I keep asking my self till today and still could not get an answer.

If you ask me...it is "quite easy" to drive a fast car like the

F1 or the A1 but to ride fast bike like those riding in the WSBK and MOTO GP, it's not easy eventhough it "looks easy".

Therefore, I still puzzled why not much people appreciate MotoGP, WSBK compared to A1 or F1 or Golf.

My two cents.

Yup, to go far, there must be sponsors. The story of SG A1 team is a classic example...sponsor was low, towards the end, had to lay off all the drivers except for Christian Murison, because he was obviously the best driver among the threesome, and towards the end, it was Christian's Daddy who pump in the money to last a couple more races.

The fatal blow came when the team ran out of $$$ to campaigne the last few races and Team SG (in name only) had to back out.

Anyways, Christian is a SG Aussie staying in Australia, and he would rather race for Team Aussie. Just that Aussie had a Foster Beer A1GP Team, so since no one is representing SG, so conveniently Team SG was form.

Very sad....I was all hyped up when I heard there's Team SG in A1GP, but when I discover the truth, it kindda sucks.....a team that was never to be.

Imagine we have a Team SG Shell....

Bro, as usual, very transparent........these are constructive criticism. I agree with your notion that they should quit "reviewing" bikes in their magazines, when we could jolly well surf the web or pick up a "proper" bike magazines like T.W.O, etc. Local bike mags should dig into our local heritage, look at things that are special to us SG Bikers. It's sad that this year's MSS or the PG clubman was not even given enough interest, as it was constantly mentioned that this yr seen the highest number of Sporean participation. What are they waiting for? Until a Sporean gets crowned MSS champion? That is not the right spirit...we should not wait to only celebrate victory, that is just plain too vain. We should celebrate the spirit of participation, and the riders who put forth a foot to really race. Proper coverage would not only do the privateers justice, but also to the workshops that had given support in any ways of sponsorship.

It's the stigma and taboo of motorcycles again.....it's everywhere, and even here in States....parents, be them Asian, Whites or Hispanic, would tell their kids to grow up and "buy a car" The truth is that car protects a stupid cager even when it is the cager's fault. I would never had the green light if my dad was not a rider before. He just told me to be careful, and casually mentioned that it would be awesome if I could also get a driver license because it's a skill too. I never quite get the "try to drive" issue until now that I am a father too, though I secretly hope my kids would love bikes and any sort of motorsports

I strongly believe that it is not easy to drive a car fast, just like a bike. Oh, but dun talk about auto cars...those auto cars, erhm  You know....

wat up bro.. aniway ur talking about MCA rite... n i have the same views too...i mean, sure it is cheap for only 2 dollars an issue but it basically have the same old stories.. and wat i hate about this publishers is that they really like having a model in the front page.. i mean like, cmon man.. y does it have to be gerls..i see gerls everyday and it really dont make sense to make the cover page.. Y NOT PUT OUR BELOVED ROSSI IN THE MAIN PAGE.. that will be interesting.. or maybe our homeracers which put their heart and soul into racing..

hpmhh.... god , wat is wrong with these people....???

racing is about bikes and riders and track and other complicated stuff... not some other things.. wat do u guys think?? do i make sense??

Hart.....ur write up made me ejaculate.....another person after MJ calls me stubborn....am I?

We dun have a particular racing mag in singapore. but MCA is at least doing something for 2 wheelers. I think thats a start. but the question is direction. its a chopper group supported mag. so, at least they featured something about MSS. thank u.

Other than talented riders, its very hard to get any sponsorship here. simple reason, media exposure. when there was a fight in a car racing event held in sepang, became a big article. but no one covers competition stories. whether cars or bikes.

i heard of people earning big bucks with illegal racing. i think thats the way to go. i am an embarrassment at home. family members say i am wasting my time and money and health doing this. maybe this is where the stubborn part comes in?

as hart mentioned, i remember the article about bike testing in marina....few pages.......fabian tyre testing 1 page...........what the hell.

at this rate, the breed of riders who intend to race is gonna reduce.

Amba,

It's not stubborn....it is the SPIRIT.

The spirit to excel despite many crashes and hole in the pocket. Not every one can do it.

History says that the great riders had dropped zillion times before they excel to the top.

Even our Rossi crashed zillion time during his MotoGP academy time.

It all boils down to "who got the bigger b*lls" and the urge to excel and continue.

as hart mentioned, i remember the article about bike testing in marina....few pages.......fabian tyre testing 1 page...........what the hell.

OMFG.....time to drop the bikinis and ride nude....

Few pages about riding in Marina, is it to honor that area before it was close down for renovation?

Only 1 page on tyre testing....but as a definate cruiser point of view, few pages on race tyres reviews is also bullshit. Double edge sword.
