Long time ago when our bike exhaust got dented, we go to bike shop to wrap a metal sheet over. Now I have been told that this process is illegal bcos

1) it will cause welding on the pipe, and welding on the pipe is illegal

2) original marking on the exhaust will be gone.

Has anyone encounter problem with LTA on this. Point 2 is so...

*p.s. Ok confirmed liao, it's 100% illegal due to the above reasons. So asked also if what to repair then how and was told, in simpler terms, "cannot repair, if want to change must be original to original part".

We have taken one big step back...

Yup, I am writing this because inspection centre is also catching this, but they probably won't fail you but let you "pass on conditions". I just kena this.

If aftermarket exhaust damaged, replacement can be done at agent/distributor.

That means must change the exhaust same to same type. Must sure if there's any official markings on it the paperwork must be done also.

Official marking like serial number, model, etc. They want to see the official markings on it; without it they consider it as illegal mod.

That's why now exhaust wrap even onto the original pipe is considered illegal modification.
