Anyone infected with MSN virus before?

Need some help fr any expert here...

 

MSN was infected with virus ytd..Unsuspectingly accepted a file sent by my frend and opened it without dbl checking.Only to realise its a virus when I opened a MS-DOS application

The virus does nth much but to send itself to my frends who r online in my contact list...

 

I've tried many means and ways to remove the virus.Downloaded programs and patch,but didnt work.Did a scan with my AVG,which also didnt work..

Followed some step by step manually delete method also didnt help much..

 

 

My guess is that these methods are abit outdated..anyone can help??

Try this from AVG "AVG Anti-Rootkit Free"....

Nearly forgot if you are using XP.........every time there is a update, microsoft will ask to download Malicious Software Removal Tool (KB890830) together with the usual updates to your computer.

 

Download it.....it will scan your com. for stubborn infections.

 

No need to wait for updates to kick in...

 

Do it manually here anytime at yours truly Gates owned.......

MSN is virus-free...

it's just that the viruses already inside your friends' computer are manipulating, using MSN (and e-mail) as one of its ways to spread the infection to others...

Try using McAfee virus scan and anti-spyware. I know it costs $, but to me I find it more effective than Norton. After 1 week of turmoil with these 'MSN' infections, y'day finally got it solved.

This is what i do.

Uninstall the whole msn messenger

Do a full scan using antivirus program

If virus still cannot be detected

Reboot, and do a full scan using anti virus program

It should detect and clean it off by then

i think this virus affect effects are when other ppl send u pic or song next time, u cant see the remarks of cancel, receive etc.... now , think no much harm after dat... kena my laptop.. damn.... but juz cant open the file when ppl send to me directly in the msn.. have to go to the received folder in PC to view instead

i also agree mcAfee is better than Norton nowadays. Coz Norton sometimes still allow virus to slip thru.

happened to me a few times, no use installing again.
