I think that as long as you can't control the vehicle properly, even if you have 1 sip, you'll still be charged in court. This can be found in the basic theory.

Its 35 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millitres of breath, or more than 80 milligrammes of alcohol per 100 millitres of blood.

in a nutshell, 1 unit of alcohol per hour should bring u just below the limit for normal person under normal conditions.

1 unit is roughly equal to 1 std beer, or a std measure of spirits like whiskey or vodka Or 1 std serving of wine etc.

The road blocks will not determine the actual figures, it will get determined in the station. So if the alcohol in your breath is high, they will bring you back to the station to get tested accurately.

From SPF website:

The Traffic Police highlighted that many motorists are unclear about the drink driving law in Singapore. Under the Road Traffic Act, a person can be convicted of drink driving in two instances.

If the driver is found with more than the legal limit of 35 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millitres of breath, or more than 80 milligrammes of alcohol per 100 millitres of blood, he/she is deemed to have broken the law and it does not matter whether the driver has perfect control of the vehicle, when caught.

Even when the alcohol level is under the legal limit, the driver can still be convicted if it is shown that he/she did not have proper control of the vehicle as a result of alcoholic intoxication.

best part is even if u drink a jolly shandy and get into an accident where the other party wanna claim frm u, ur insurance company can choose not to pay out as there's alcohol involved.. therefore u gotta prepare for a giant hole in ur pocket

Does anybody know where we can buy some sort of breathalyzer ourselves so that we can get an idea of how we would fare on the TP breath test?

I would never ride if impaired by alcohol. But I'm concerned about getting caught at a roadblock after drinking even if I'm not physically affected by the alcohol.

Yiss....there is such breath analyzer machines available. Purchased and used only at certain pubs. My understanding that their machine, does not equal the machine a the TP Headquarters. So if their machine says you are fine. The machine at the TP or the hospital says no. Then you are still a 'drunk driver/rider'.

The portable device, I dont remember it as cheap. Easily a few k. Not counting the training/certifications and to operate it.

No matter how you feel you are physically not affected by the alcohol. Its not for you to say. 'Drunks always says they are ok and not drunk'.

Certainly, drunk people's judgment is not to be trusted. But I think (hope) most adults can distinguish between being slightly tipsy and completely sober, and it would be useful to know if you'd pass the breath test even if you were completely unaffected by drink (for instance if you'd had very little or it had been several hours since your last drink).

The breath test is definitely not a foolproof indicator of drunkenness.

First, body mass plays a critical role in determining the result. A person with a large body mass and poor alcohol tolerance might pass the breath test, while one with a small body mass and high alcohol tolerance might fail it. In the latter case it would be useful for such a person to have some idea of how he would fare on a breath test.

Second, it measures only blood alcohol content and not the extent to which a person is affected by alcohol. Someone who passes the test may be more adversely affected by someone who fails.

So basically the winner here is the person with the largest body mass. Smaller people, watch out.

These 2 statements contriadict each other lah.

You may not drunk after 1 can of beer, but this does not means you are below the limit.

The best is: - If you drunk, dont drink"

Drunk people will not think they are drunk, until too late.

If you intend to drink, take BMT lah - Bus MRT Taxi.

If you have ride and have drunk, leave it there. Better to have bike wheel champ for overnight parking than pay government thousand $$$ to keep your licence.

Why not just don't drink altogether?

The thing is, how much you drink, and how much you get drunk, depends on the person.

For example, if someone has a high tolerance for alcohol. He can drink many damn cans. He may be above the legal limit, but he still can think straight. Compared to another who drink one can, then its below the legal limit, but knock out already.

Get what i mean? the only way to really know what is your limit is to buy your own damn breathalyser and test yourself before every ride.

Breath analyzers do not directly measure blood alcohol content or concentration, which requires the analysis of a blood sample. Instead, they estimate BAC indirectly by measuring the amount of alcohol in one's breath. Two breathalyzer technologies are most prevalent.
