Reckless TAXI Driver!! (SH8458)

Just now when heading home from serangoon to amk, nearly involved with a accident with a Taxi driver! It was a 4 lane road, I was on the 3rd lane & that idiot was on the 4th lane, imagine i was at his passenger door area there when he suddenly swerve out, I E-brake until rear tyre abit fish tail liao(with my mum behind pillion). I super pissed off but i never horn him, just overtake him dan stare at him. He suddenly came to my side & start yelling like a mad dog say my head light not on cannot see plus some vulgarity.. I also just shout back, tellin him straight to his face: "I might have forgotten to on my headlight just now, MY FAULT, but singapore street is so bright, You mean ur company hired short sighted drivers? I was just at e passenger door side! Did u even bother to CHECK BACK or SIGNAL RIGHT or See the MIRROR b4 u change lane??!" He sped off after i give him a pcs of my mind. And when i signal to turn left at the next junction, he purposely slow his TAXI down(2car length) trying to block my way!! WTF!!

 

*Have already called & complained to C**F*** hotline, tell me muz wait 1-2 weeks for reply, I super pissed off & tell them this: "ur driver nearly caused 2 person to be involved in a accident within a split second & u wanna make me wait for 1-2weeks?! Some more yelling at me with vulgarity! I'm giving you 1week only! After 1 week if u guys dun reply i'm gonna post to STOMP and the NEwspaper, Let the public know what kinda "OUTSTANDING" drivers ur company hired":angry:

i believe there are some exceptions taxi drivers out dere but i must say most of them are way too reckless..

 

i myself got into an accident with a cab before..i going straight, he oso going straight on opposite road..sudenli he saw a passenger hailing from e road on my side...

 

wad did he do? he swerved to make a u turn suddenly...i was like barely a metre away from e place where he made e turn and there was no way i cud have e-braked in time..crashed into him...

 

Became TP case..verdict? he got charged for reckless drving and 9 points i tink...

 

i tink most accidents are involving cabs 2 e extent that some of us will go like "taxi is it?" whenever we hear of an accident...

 

I tink govt reali need to do someting abt tis...they keep saying most road fatalities involve riders but they always hide e fact that most drivers caused some of these fatalities too...

most unfortunately... cab drivers are always like that... and not only in SG... but in most of the countries that i have been to, the cabbies also quite 'hiong' on the road...

my suituation arent that serious as prego08220 and Leftlegged... that time i was on my way to sch .. AYE towards jurong exiting NUS.. while exiting there was a bend.. then this bl**dy C**F**T driver was behind me, then he overtake me with half of his car in my lane ( i was in the left lane).. then i was piss off.. cause he overtake me in a bend ,somemore wif half his car in my lane.. and that was dangerous cause we biker are "cornering" ... then happen that he stop in front of me... i went beside him n hand sign him wat the fook he doing.. then i see him don even look at me, i piss off and continue my way to sch.. but when i move off, then he notice that i was hand signing him, then he no happy, lower the window and scold me and horn me.. wat the fook.. he do wrong things stil don know.. that time i rem his plate num, but now forgotten, else i complain him liao...

Sad to say...We are small and most drivers do not check back, therefore we are in a very unfavourable postion when we are in their blind spots.

Do try to avoid being in the blind spots. Either be faster a bit or keep a safe distance.

hais.. most cases involve these cab drivers.. in fact most of the taxi drivers are like this..

 

even if we are cars it would be hard to avoid them....

my dad is also super pissed off with taxi drivers..

his logic? they would do anything on the road at all costs to just get a bloody passenger..

they can be on the first lane.. and see passenger wave ar.. then let's say is 4 lane way, they can cut 3 lanes in one move and go all the wave to the 4th lane...

u behind see liao even though no accident caused but also feel damn pissed lar..

Knn.. If he just wind down and talk in a better manner, I wont even wanna f**k him also.. Wind down liao yell and shout, like kenna f**k by some wild dogs like that.. I admit my headlight wiring is abit shorted, But c'mon, its a 10yrs old bike, surely has abit of problem here and there.. BUT this problem can be solve by repairing! But the taxi driver's attitude & driving style can it be change in a week or even a month? I believe not.. Since u guys has experience in such cases also, I think it time for the taxi company to wake up their F88King idea already.. I'll def write in more complain to the taxi..

I oso encounter abt the same as threadstarter a few years ago..

i was riding along geylang serai..

i was at lane 3, suddenly a C**F**** cab drive out from lane 4 after picking up passengers and cut into my lane..

i cannot brake in time due to sudden swerve out of the cab.. i crash the side of the cab and lose control of the bike..

 

when i manage to get up and quickly move to the side of the road, cab drive came out.. instead of asking mi "are u alright" no matter who has right of way in any situation.. he scold mi how i ride?? somemore say this is sg road.. not yr road.. cos i was wearing very very casual.. wif dye hair.. riding a SP150..

 

i juz take out my wallet, pull out my license and throw to him..

say"i singaporean ok.. how u drive yr cab one.. i oso hav class 3.. u dun noe wat is check blind spot."

then he say got on his signal..

i replied him that signal doesn't mean give u right of way.. is to inform mi u turning out.. somemore is on the signal, check back, inch out a bit, check back then move off..

then i told him if u still think u are rite, we go idac.. no need to talk much..

he straightaway ask mi for the cost of private settlement..

But seriously, aren't we at any one point in time at someone's blindspot? In a situation where cars are all in 1 row, you overtake one, end up on another's blindspot, over take that one again in another blindspot. That is what checking back is all about isn't it?

 

So how can it be someone's fault for being at a blind spot? The only even if one is purposely hiding at a vehicle's blind spot for whatever reason, its not his fault. The fault still lies with the one not checking his blind spot. The only thing the person hiding in the blind spot is guilty of putting himself in danger.

 

You can only say its dangerous to be in the blind spot but you cannot say its his fault.

just be careful at that bend...some drivers (some are lorries) are unfamiliar with e exit so duno wheter turn right to clementi or turn left to nus/pasir panjang/west coast area....

nowadays cannot give taxi drivers chance. so wat if they earning money? lives are more important.

drive recklessly and yet so rude when ppl point out their mistakes.

i've given up being nice to taxi-drivers.

just be careful at that bend...some drivers (some are lorries) are unfamiliar with e exit so duno wheter turn right to clementi or turn left to nus/pasir panjang/west coast area....

 

thanks dude... everytime i exit there, i ride at 50-60 onli.. when its up slope, i close throttle..

 

 

i also believe that there are good taxi drivers... btw that fellow i encounter is young about 30-35 onli.. got a ya ya face....

Let's all do some soul searching. We have, at any one point of time, certainly broke some rules on the road. Nobody can say no, everyone exceeds the 50km/h speed limit imposed, true ? If everyone drives like robots, there will be no accident, too bad, we are humans.

 

We have, at a point of time, changed lane without signalling, ride on pavements, SQUEEZE through traffic, corner at high speed, ride without headlights on.. and so on, riding or driving likewise. (Do not think but we never endanger others, you never know when u will. If u break traffic rules, someday, u will endanger others or yourself)

 

No human is perfect. But the thing is, we riders are at a very great disadvantage on the road. Even if the driver is horrible, arrogant, yaya face, wonder-how-tp-pass-this-driver way of driving, do remember if we are involved, at most times we suffer the pain on our beautiful skin and bones and bike.

 

So, my advice is to ride defensively, as what other riders say, try to avoid especially when u see taxi/car moving off from a halt after fetching passenger, or if u see passenger on opposite road flagging and the taxi in front seems to be an eager beaver, no harm slowing down. A little patience on the road goes a long way.

 

It just happens most accidents involve taxi and motorcycles these two are the majorities on the road. Nothing to do with "ALL taxi drivers are f-up" or "ALL riders think they own the road".

 

My condolence to those involved in accidents, but that's what makes us grow right? heh, Blessings to all riders with safe rides !!

 

 

ps : If you are new on the road and invovled in an accident, and the other party intimidates you, do not hesitate to call the Police. Even though sometimes its not a Police case, they are humane enough to assist you. Otherwise, call your rider/driver friends to assist you.

we all got our gripes with drivers of different sorts eg women drivers, bus drivers, taxi drivers. One thing is for sure, they will never go away. Never, EVER. Period. So do u hold a grudge and judge them alike or do you move on and just be defensive around them?

Lets not form hate campagines and some times these kind of threads, influence ppl and what happens? road rage, less tolerance, etc.

very true indeed...the incident i had with e cab (i just took down my p-plate when 2 weeks before i had e accident) makes me more aware of them whenever im near them...but then, aft some time i realise i became more aware of many other road users not just cabs...

 

u can call this natural maturity gained thru everyday experience but im pretty sure the accident makes e accelerates e learning curve....

 

btw bro tooty i doubt e forumers here are out for a "taxi vs riders" war...tink we are simply sharing our bad experience with taxi drivers...mayb we can also start a thread for bad experience with fellow riders....
