i bet there are more regulations in the lta book that the tps and rovs are even more confused! :sweat: :sweat: :sweat:

I think better to get an original copy from LTA stating that sticker type of number plate is allowed on the windshield. Then keep that letter with you whenever you ride the bike. If any ROV want to find trouble with you, at least you got something black and white to show them in their face.

Dun think there's a RS 3 tri-oval. I am using a RS 3 carbon fibre Duplex full system. But as for the tri-oval, it's called a TRD. :thumb:

i was informed there is no longer a need to display a road tax disc on your bike, As this was quoted by 2 tp officer who stop me along CTE.

Err if you need black and white...actually there is no black and white as most officers have been informed.

just a small quote.

Dear Mr XXX,

NUMBER PLATE REGULATIONS & MATERIAL USED

FEEDBACK NUMBER: 153370

Thank you for your enquiries of 30-JUN-2004.

2. We wish to inform you that the technical requirements for motorcycle licence plates used in Singapore can be found in Rule 15 and Fourth Schedule of the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) Rules.

3. In summary, these rules specify that licence plates should comply with either of the following descriptions (colour code):

a) Letters and figures are white, silver or light grey on a non-reflective black background for both front and rear; or

b) Letter and figures are black on a white reflex-reflecting background for the front, and on a yellow reflex-reflecting background for the rear.

4. The front licence plates for motorcycle must also meet the following dimension specifications:

(a) The letters and figures are 35 mm high, 25 mm wide and 5 mm broad;

(b) The space between adjoining letters and between adjoining figures shall be 5 mm;

© The space between the letters and figures shall be 10 mm;

(d) A margin between the nearest part of any letter or figure and the top

or bottom of the number plate shall be 5 mm;

(e) A margin between the nearest part of any letter or figure and the sides of the licence plate shall be 10 mm.

5. The rear licence plates for motorcycle must also meet the following dimension specifications:

(a) The letters and figures are 50 mm high, 30 mm wide and 5 mm broad;

(b) The space between adjoining letters and between adjoining figures shall be 10 mm;

© The space between the letters and figures shall be 20 mm;

(d) A margin between the nearest part of any letter or figure and the top, bottom and sides of the licence plate shall be 10 mm.

(e) For licence plate that consists of 2 rows of figures and letters, the space the 2 rows shall be 10 mm.

6. No other figures or letters, design advertisement or ornamentation shall be placed near the licence plate in such a manner as to render it more difficult to read or distinguish the registration number of the motorcycle when in motion.

7. Many licence plates used in Singapore are attached to plastic licence plates holders that contain wording and brand names. We have no objection to the fixing of licence plates with such holders if it meet the above requirements. In addition, the wordings on such holders shall not contain obscenities or profanities and shall not be derogatory seditious.

8. As for your enquiry on the sticker type licence plate for the front, we have no objection to it so long as the above requirements are met. We hope we have addressed your enquiries satisfactorily, thank you.

Yours sincerely,

If you are using sticker, it is not legal, due to size. If kena stop by TP...fine will depend on the mood of the TP. With sticker, I do not think you can do a big enough dimensions which is outline by LTA. You may wanna try to measure. It should be around 22cm to 25cm wide for a legal measurements. This also depends on your number plate, if got many 1111 then maybe can have a smaller dimension.

some prices for no. plate retention/replacement can be found in the link below:

http://www.onemotoring.com.sg/publish/onemotoring/en/lta_information_guidelines/checklist/retain_a_vehicle_number.html

yr bike gets a new no. plate if u have another new vehicle under yr name to retain the old no. on & cost to u is $100.

as for direct replacement of no. plate w/ new no. plate, i can't be too sure on the price.

maybe $1,300?

but there is a risk to take lar. in case the new no. is 'ugly' also.

Anyone knows?

yes

still valid.

so long as the sticker no. plate means the correct dimensions, then it is ok.

u need to note that the dimension for alphabets & numbering is different for front versus rear plate though.

:goodluck:

sticker sizes can be adjusted prior to printing mah.

if u set it to the approved sizing, then no issues already right?

:)

but i must say that to create the rear no. plate in a single roll using approved specs = too long to look nice~

What if i go to the inspector and show the letter from this below and the inspector said this letter outdated year 2004 now 2009. How to justify? I enquiry with the chief inspector and was told off front license plate must be at least 1 meter above the ground. No bending of license plate and use screws and bolt.

Juz for effect, I re-pasted the number stickers of my number plate closely together, connecting at its ends. A TP warned me about it when I was stopped over for a visor offence. However, that number plate thing seems more like he's trying to impress the lady trainee TP who stopped me over in the first place, what with going around my bike n tryin to find fault anywhere he can.
