Help on removing rim sticker

Guys, i need tips on how to remove the old rim sticker cuz mine were damage during changing of my tire.. Thanks~

good luck, very hard to take off..in e end i buy tape n tape back..i use many ways, from grease to oil, etc.. even use nails to remove ... hardly peel off.. and u use something sharp to peel off, ur rim will be many hair lines(sratch)

My guess would be that you used the cheap rim stickers from Auntie/LAB? If you were using the 3M ones you can just peel it off easily..And it would also last so much longer on your rims..

 

Maybe you could try stickin another layer of tape..Masking/Duct tape..Just about whatever tape you can find which have really good holdin strength and paste it over your old rim tape..Then just peel it off..Hopefully the rim tape will stick to the masking/duct tape that you pasted on..

i had a hell of a time getting the damn stickers off too.

yes. i got it from auntie and it was a dumb mistake, thinking that it would be ok. within a month, the stickers start to crack and warp. therefore, get 3M or don't try anything cheap rim stickers.

 

as for removing the adhesive remains on the rims. i used ronsonol lighter fluid (zippo fluid) and a steel sponge (those used for scrubbing pots and pans) the whole process might utilize the entire bottle of fluid.

 

it does get the remains off but don't expect a "no sweat" process. Ronsonol lighter fluids can be found in minimarts, supermarkets and pasar malam. when you come across one. it's yellow in color with a symbol of a flame. beneath the symbol, it states "Ideal for all petrol lighters and cleaning fluid for the home, garage and studio"

 

hope this could reduce some stress anyone who encounters this sticky problem. btw, can use the fluid for removing any sticky surface (without the steel sponge for other areas) remains on cover sets, helmet or whereever. it won't remove your paint. unlike thinner.

i took me almost a total of 48 hrs over 2 weeks.

Wah.. super hard to take off.. I used my nails to scrap them off.. den the rest i use a cloth sparyed with alot of WD-40 n keep rubbing the stains left over ny the stickers..

 

I didnt finish in 1 session. it took me around 5 session to complete..

 

And in every session my sure sweat alot and go home with my nails hurting..

 

Good luck bro.. recommend u just buy new ones and stick over the spoilt ones..

look behind the sticker, the paper part.. it should have 3M trade mark logo..

u can try any hardware stores.. the product available in NTUC as well.. it's called GOO-GONE. =) for removing adhesive stuffs.. mainly like sticker labels on glass, stickers, etc...

Ya heard lots of the same issue. Anyway choose 3M if you wan reflective...If not, can get Oracal 651...cheaper than reflective sheetings.
