Yes, there is a Japanese falcon called "Hayabusa".

But Japanese, like Chinese characters can have multiple connotations. Whilst the character maybe the name for the bird, it's meaning is actually "fast". :shades:

It's not a chinese word.

It's a Japanese word literally meaning "Hayabusa" and the meaning is fast.

However, Suzuki are not the first to use the term. Jap WW2 had a interceptor and also one of their more recent bullet trains are also named hayabusa.

thou the word "Hayabusa" was a name for a japanese falcon ???

The word is arrived from a chinese word 'Zun'.

we stop halfway to get further...

Hey Teck,

Enjoying your bike??? Shouldn't be too long now before you are able to feel the real power of the busa......

I can tell you this much.....the BUSA will beat the R1 is the straights but when it comes to corners, especially if the rider (of the R1) leans his butt off the seat....the busa has NO chance..... this is all from experience......

But nevertheless, enjoy the bike.....

You guys insterested to meet up in Kulai for dinner either tomorrow or Wednesday???? Meet me back on my return leg from KL????

Anyone???

Good vid. Mach 3. But i am sure the Mach3 ZX12 is modded. Seems to out run the Busa. But no other magazine or internet bike test I have come across have shown the ZX to be faster. hmmmm......

Fastbikes wouldnt mod the ZX to shame the BUSA, there's no reason for them to do that!

They tested the roll-ons 5 times and each time the BUSA got left behind!

And i personally did engineered the same test LOCALLY.....the ZX walks away time and time again!

Yes the BUSA took the crown in 1999... and if u remember, the ZX's launch was delayed after the protest by the European Bike Union on the manufacturer's top speed race. The delay was to de=tuned the NINJA to the same perf of the BUSA (I happened to have solid evidence that wasnt published). Due to tolerances in mass production, some are faster and some not.

Everytime on the roll-ons the BUSA will jump a lead for bout 1-2bike length...(BUSA's torque department is king) but almost immediately the ZX will reel it in and walk away....leaving the BUSA standing. (Do you know the BUSA's RAM air loses it efficiency after speed of 140mhp?) its a fact!!

So in my opinion both bike is as fast......on the top end of course..only the BUSA wasnt challenged as far as the Guiness Record is concerned.

There's many test out there in other country esp. UK and Germany the ZX is faster.....

Stability at high(warp) speed is excellent on the NINJAs.....(after asking a dozen riders(owners). NO COMPLAIN! Again u witnessed it in MACH 3.

In fact rider comfort on the NINJA is better thn the BUSA which has a lower screen and a further stretched bars.....

HANDLING department, i will leave it all to decide....(A French Team of 2 ZX12s completed the 24hr LE MANS race with excellent results not forgetting its the R1s and GSXR1000s they are racing with) :shades:

I am neither here to bad mouth the BUSA nor to promoted the NINJAs but just to share some facts that many out there may not be aware of. :p

Somtimes its not good to believe what mags say...test it in the real world! ;)

"If u lookin for back for me, u r lookin in the wrong direction" :D :D

hey guys, of couse u will be king in the straights cos you have 300cc more than us R1s. Even if i twist the throttle all the way until my wrist pain, i will still be smelling Busa smoke. No doubt about that.

In tight corners (160km and below) u dun need to hang your butt off the R1 to roast the BUSA.....above thats the BUSA could be leaving the R1 behind..... this is again all from experience. ;) ;)

You can shoot off any number of unverifiable figures and "solid evidence that wasnt published" (so why not reveal it?) . By the way how and WHERE did you "...personally did engineered the same test locally "???? Show me a piece of road in Sg that you can take at 300km/h (Unless your father happens to be CO of some air base!)!

I have seen and read countless videos and review regarding the group test between these bikes. From Australia to the US, from the UK to South Africa. No other publication or video has yet to show a ZX12 beating the Busa in top.

I have absolutely nothing against the ZX, in fact i kinda like the mirrors and the snow plough. And if our local agent for Kawas was a bit nicer and more efficient i would seriously consider the ZX. However, in terms of Tops, the Busa has it firmly in the bag! Unless you have evidence to prove otherwise, i will trust the majority of the motoring community.

Now you understand why i feel that my bike turn's like a bus... we really cannot even see their tail light. .. at one point, i was tail-gated by a malaysia cub kia...and he wasn't even trying to over take...

Kulai, wat time, tuesday or wednesday?? I am alright... Pat, lychee?? want to hear stories?? it's time we laugh back at him....

In case you just migrated here, LCK is as long as the Tengah Runway. And thats a TOP SPEED-capable stretch. I duno wat u ride....but seems like a BUSA to me..... also even if your DAD (i got no choice to bring your dad in) is a CO he wont have the authority to let you do a top speed run in on the runway. Whn i say locally, i also mean Msia.....theres a few specific spot u can test.

If u cant hit 300kmh at LCK, 1: mayb your bike is de-restricted or 2: u aint very much of a BUSA rider.

Y not watch MACH3 again?

actually it depends .... on the rider ... and of cos the bike

but more to the rider ... no same bike is the same ... some faster some slower ...by the way GuiNNeSS rides a NT650VY

we are all here to share some right some wrong ...

and from what i know the ZX 12 is faster after they agreed to destrict the bike ...

ZX 12 is 186 mile/hour while haya is 185 mile/hour

if to derestrict the bike haya would top over the ninja ...

Now thats something from the man himself...u BUSA rider in the real world.

Ok cool....just that my dad aint favour of me doin top speed runs. So better to leave him out of the pic.

:pity:

Possible but doesnt applies across the board....there are variance in models of the NiNJA depending on which country its built for. Its all spelt in the service manuals. Differences being in the pipes, ECUs and some engines....i do know of very healthy full-powered ZXs in singapore. They are just not in the limelight yet. ;)

A test rider from US rode the bike in JAPAN before its launch...the pre-production model is comfirmed to be different in terms of power output. And that model has a different set of sprockes which is meant for higher top speed than the production models (he got some pics of it).

Too bad the legislations killed it there and then........just like they killed the 01 and 02 BUSA too.

The Big NINJA will always live in the shadow of the BUSA now that the top speed chase is over......but theres always something more ya can get out of a TRUE GOOD BIKE. ;) ;)

hahaya agree actually i do think of getting the ninja before but can't bear to give up on my dream bike so in the end i choose hayabusa

for other point of view the ninja horsepower is higher than the haya but the haya is 1000cc more than the ninja so give and take they are jus abt the same...

power is nothing without control

which ever is faster ... doesn't matter

wat matter is can you take the power ...

like spiderman foster father say

GREAT POWER COME WITH GREAT RESPONSIBILITY

Agree that legislations killed all the fast bike

hey this thread is flamin hot!!!

popular discussion... the hayabusa and the zx12 ninja... :cheer: :cheer:

well, all over the world the same heated argument takes place in many forums... and even in cafes and biker joints! hehehe (not forgetting magazines..)

what some of us do is simple... leave all the magazine talk behind.. get some mates to meet up.. (of course those riding the bikes mentioned... hayabusa, zx12, r1 just for laffs) and do a little friendly shoot-out of our own... end of the day.. the bike that comes in the fastest gets to say whatever he wants! heheheh isnt that the way its done here?? :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

nobody trusts the magazines... they just support the manufacturer who posts the most adverts yeah? comeon... you all know that...

so in the real world... where real men ride real mean machines... we need to have real tests!!! true dyno tests up close and personal and true top speed roll ons and stuff...

other than those results... the rest :nono: :nono: :nono: can be just pulp fiction... :shades: :shades: :shades:

Actually, at the end of the day, it doesn't matter which machine is faster.... as long as, YOU, the rider is pleased with your purchase.....ok allridy....

Both bikes have their pluses and minuses..... yes, both bikes can hit over 300kmh but most people hit there abouts and slow down....

So people, it doesn't matter whether the ZX12R or the Haya is faster.....

But I hear though that the popularity of the ZX12R has fallen after the first 2 years of high popularity.......

well, the haya might look intimdating at first, but its really not..... just because the ZX12R looks more streamline doesn't mean that it is any easier to handle.......

Just ask Taylor, I'm sure she finds the Haya a nice ride, just like Ah Teck....and the millions of other Haya owners............
