All the replies so far it's about hidden costs in buying a bike.

If you are referring to operating costs, then its basically :

- COE

- Road Rax

- Insurance

- Maintenance.

The only hidden operating costs are recurrent increase in petrol and ERP prices, and the rampant birth of ERP gantries

hmm so the cost and insurance is included inside the bike? I am planning to get a bike after my licence..

a wave with 2year coe left suit u the most. however alway prepare some money to do up the wear and tear since it is a "many" handed bike.

I've been riding for also more than a decade now. Hidden cost nothing much.

Fuel, EO, Road tax, Insurance, ERP and maintainance. Depending on the bike size and age, maintainance can be the bulk of it.

On average, every three days, 1 motorcyclist or a pillion die or is seriously injured in a traffic accident. Riding a motorcycle is dangerous enough. Riding recklessly is Suicidal.

is it true that sp's fuel concumption is also quite low in comparison with its class? as in sports bikes... heard my fren saying sp can dong quite long and pump full tank also not very ex. lols. anyone can confirm wif me?

SP is a sportsbike and therefore the fuel consumption is definitely one of the worst... If you want good consumption then get a scooter or cruiser instead. :thumb:

It's always a inversed relationship between performance and fuel consumption.

known costs... you know they're always there http://www.websmileys.com/sm/mad/boese058.gif

+ machine cost & market value depreciation

+ COE

+ transfer of ownership fees

+ annual road tax & insurance

+ seasons & coupon parking

+ general maintenance, e.g. EO & 2T, gear oil, spark plugs, oil & air filters, wash cab, brake oil, radiator flush, coolants, etc etc.

+ wear-n-tear replacements, e.g. tires, brake plates, sprockets, chain, fork seals, piston rings, gaskets, light bulbs, etc etc.

+ repairs for damages, e.g. gearbox, clutch, fork, bearings, steering cone, seat cover, foot pegs, box, etc etc. anything that can spoil will spoil someday

+ any mods you want... wah, this one only limited by your pockets

hidden costs... you know only when you get them http://www.websmileys.com/sm/mad/boese088.gif

+ parking summons... seems almost every biker kanna before

+ speeding summons

+ accidents, lang-gahs, buang, skidding, etc

+ injuries

may all be well and happy

Then you my friend, have to make up your mind.

If you wan to look cool, be prepared to fork out the money. 2B sports bikes are not cheap. With you current budget, you will have difficulties buying it.

If you don't care about looks, there are plenty of road bikes which can be had for your budget. Choosing a road worthy one is more likely the problem you will face.

If you intend to upgrade to class 2A, then I suggest getting a cheap bike with low depreciation. Something like a cheap Daelim Magma, Daystar, Yamaha RXZ, RXK, Honda CG125, Suzuki GN125. Buy cheap then sell cheap one year later :thumb:

don't worry abt getting too "nice" a bike if u intent to upgrade in a year or 2. i took my time, 5 yrs (1991-1996) to save $$ & gain experince to finally upgrade to my then dream bike ZX-7 ($23, 800). try to save more so to aviod taking too high a mthly installment. don't let the $$ matter take away the fun of riding.

don't be too eager to buy a bike & remember that there will always be a better deal. so take ur time & do your maths.
