GS650 - comments on this bike?

hiya ... questions for the Beemers guru ....

 

GS650 and the Dakar? Aside from the higher suspension, longer forks and the 21 inch wheel, no difference between the Dakar and the GS650, right? Found one of each ... contemplating.

Hi guys, I am a newbie to this bike. Kinda like the bike. Can you guys tell me what is the market rate for this bike? Thank you very much..

 

If its not really ex, thinking of getting one, GS above 1000cc is really nice but now insurance is killing me.

List on PML's is priced at S$25,500 for GS & S$26,600 for GS"D" as of 01 Aug 05.

Thank you for that info my firend. So a FS plate shld roughly cost 10k plus minus yah. From your experience, although this single cylinder machine is only 50hp, for engine wise, is it as hardy as XR400?

 

Read some remarks given by advrider's forum, Vibrations, speed and power is the main source of complaints on this bike.

hi there juz got my bike too.... F650GS very gd bike wana noe more frens riding this type of bike....

 

is there any gathering for the beemers or let say for the F650GS???

 

mayb can organise a kopi session???

He's a BIG MAN..... those who has met him can attest. And he loads up his 650... aux fuel tanks attachment, filled Jesse Panniers, and all his other gears strapped onto his bike..... me thinks its close to half a tonne.

 

And the bike has brought him thus far.... now heading towards Bali, then onto South Africa J'berg.

 

Its not how much power per say, its how that power is being harness and put onto the road to propell you forward.

Mah Pte Ltd has a used GS650 Adventure from PML, according to Thunder, it's a 2001 bike, and it's asking for about $13000. The bike is being restored now, and it's tank, seat are all stripped. It will come with a new coat of paint.

Hiya ... nearly bought a Dakar so thot that I share some of my research on the bike ....

 

Dakars being sold now are usually 2000 or 2001 models. The one at Mah I believe came from a first owner, if the mileage is 30k. I nearly bought that bike. I believe that it is in fact a bike that was posted for sale in Classifieds as:

As for the one at Looi, it's a 650, the old one before the GS650. It's an FP plate, white, if I recall, and I found that for what they are asking, I would rather get a GS650.

 

One thing to watch out for, most if not all of the GS/Daker have blistering on the engine block, seems to be a normal thing, so don;t let it put you off it. I know someone selling his GS650, if anyone keen to view pm me and I'll send you his number. His bike is one of those that I viewed before getting my presnet ride.

 

Finally, the GS650/dakar as a great support site at http://www.f650.com ... go check it out, one of the best sites that I have seen for support for a particular model.

Hi all GSians,

 

The hexagon shape engine oil cap for my Dakar seems rounded. Can i know where can i get a replacement from besides PML?? Saw some Dakars mounted with another type of cap with a lock..no idea where to get...any info??
