It great to know another track enthusiast heart joining the Sixes club!. I do not have as much track experience as the peers here, but my definite info is that if you are using the OEM tires, they will not perform as well as the exact same make/model available at the dealers. Reason is due to bidding of tire manufacturers to secure the contract with bike manufacturers, the % of rubber content is slightly different. I had some "close encounters" even on the normal roads, let alone track sessions. :giddy:

As for what tires to use, it would basically your own feel and judgement as you use more tires in your bike ownership. If you are on a >600cc sports bike, road aggressive tires like michelin PPs, pirelli corsas and dunlop qualifiers should be able to do the trick for a newbie, and they last reasonable well for commuting due to the dual compounds and they do not burn your pocket. I have heard of not bad reviews on the the sportec M3s (Metzler), but I have not tried them before. If you are more into super aggressive track timings, tires such as michelin PRs, Metzler racetechs, but they do have very good rubber lifespan. Another area to note is on the heat cycle lifespan, which I do not have much confidence in bridgestones. (erm thats why i never mentioned them).

Last but not least, all the tires have different behaviours, feedbacks and "reactions" based on your riding styles & inputs, depending on conditions (weather, warm up period etcetc). Whats works for rider A might not work for rider B. I know I am going to try the racetechs on my next tire change.

All the best in tire selection!!

I got only one advice for tires.

If you got the money.

Then buy the best tires money can buy. Because it will save you from all your misdeeds.

If your dont have money.

Save up money to buy good tires atleast. Because, end of the day if you crash due to tire sliding, then you will spend more then just $400-500 (cost of good tires)

But ofcos - great riders do power slides out of corners. But they are comfortable with it. We newbies aren't

I am using the Metzler M3 and highly recommend it. Really sticks in the corners.

hey guys, what do you think of a 2001 R6 that costs $8.5k? worth it?

Food For Thought

Bread pudding.

Single light cream is the type of cream most commonly used for cooking. However, this type of cream should not be boiled as it will curdle. Also, always add hot liquids to the cream rather than the cream to the liquids, in order to avoid curdling. Single(light) cream has an 18 percent fat content.

1L bikes are a must for Sepang if you want to fully utilize that track. If else. Sure kenna cut by 1000cc on strights. But on PG ...We all know The previous Trackday result....Yammie Podium with the R6 on 1st. Kudoos to that fast ang mo rider.
