BT014 is good for touring/street riding.

Good combination of grip and mileage.

NOT recommended for track use though.

any feedbacks on each tyre (about grip & mileage)?

M1 i used on track, good enough for me as I dun whack as hard. On road riding, sometimes it will slip over the white road markings on a dry day! Mileage wise is around 8,000 - 10,000km.

Wow...seems like everybody is going track.

So it's inevitable that i better get a full race outfit too.

My only concern is (think i've said a million times) i'm really really new to bikes!

You guys think it's a good idea for newbies to head to the tracks?

Don't want riders to say 'ride so slow might as well don't ride lah!'

And why must change tyres ah? Thought our standard Dunlop is ok?

Anybody has any advise for me?

Appreciate it... thanks!

i use my stock dunlop twice at track.

i think its ok la for track use if u doing 2.30- 2.40 min per lap like i am :giddy: (i touring at track .. newbie ma) and pit every 6-7 lap cause very shag :giddy:

ride like this got no tyre slide one :cheeky:

any tyre any bike can go track lah.

but know the limits of the tyre and the bike is more impt.

that day went to sepang, saw a BMW K1200RT (a tourer bike like ST11), and a Vstrom1000 on track too. Even a Honda C70 cub also went to play.

Pilot Race is pure track tyre, if you use it for the street, you're just wasting $$$ as you're going to get terrible milage out of them and won't be utilising the grip these tyres are made for. They make more sense for frequent track goers because 3~4 session will cook most tyres, might as well pay for the grippier ones. They withstand heat much better, unlike street tyres like BT014 or M1, both know to get very slippery when it gets too hot.

Pilot Power is street/track. Good for both, very good grip in all weather conditions, lower the pressure abit and they'll grip pretty damn well at the track.

M1 and Diablo Corsa are the previous generation of such street/track tyres. The Diablo corsas, when it came out in 2003, outperformed the M1 in terms of both grip and lifespan (that was the general review). Now the PP outperforms the Diablo Corsas. Having used both, I agree! The PP, when warmed up, is very sticky, it will take corners, at speeds that will make the DC feel uneasy, with ease. PP also well known for its durability.

Thanks Alan for the tips.

Think i'll be spectator first.

Let's see when is the next track day.

going to to track need not push like mad, nor ride very slow. It is all about getting to know your bike's and handling, what suspension settings, tire press to deal with so you can utilize more of the bike's capabiility, it flaws & its pros.

Its all up to you to ride yourself. With basic track gear (padded jacket, FF helmet, leather gloves, jeans & army boots), you can always head down to experience, feel, learn & associate yourself with your bike on the track. Improve/increase speed * aggressiveness at ur own comfortable pace. Chatting with experience track go-ers might also gain good tips (haha thats what i do.. tok more  ).

Going down as spectators is also good as you can then get a grasp of what to bring, do, set and what to expect in a trip there.

my 2 cents worth....

Ride hard & safe...
