I wanna buy R6 06 (or GSR) as well, but not sure if its suitable for me yet, thus my next question ...

Can anyone let me test ride ur 06R6? :help:

Gracias! :thumb:

:btw: A kind bro has let me test rode his new GSR 600 & I like it, except that its a naked bike, so can't really do NSH at high speed, so still hope R6 06 is rideable 'coz dun like 750 K6 while 1K bikes too powerful liao.

Bro the R6 06 is more powerful then the GSR600...so in terms of power u dont need to worry...however the GSR600 is ofcos very comfortable to ride unlike the R6 06...But then again u look at the two diff seats style and rider positions..its obvious that the GSR is a road bike while the R6 is a track tool..

If u interested to buy pls meet me this coming sat to get a good price for the R6 06. Seriously better then other shops

Thanks for the words of wisdom. Quite true. Hope to confirm my needs with a bro's test ride. Need to confirm if it feels ok to ride with the tip of my toes barely touching ground on 06R6 'coz scared wait unbalanced fall down. Need to confirm if its sport bike position on bike is not as torturous as Aprilia RS125 (my '98 ZX-7R was ok). Need to find out if getting away from traffic lights is more effortless than my ex-Bandit 400 and ex-WRX 'coz those veheicles needs to rev like siao to get off traffic lights. Much appreciate if any bro on 06R6 can help before I dump on $20K down for a 10-yr ride.

Agree. R6 133PS > GSR 98PS.

However, I'm thinkin on SG stoplights-infested-roads, torque is more important. Thus, riding off from all the traffic start-stop situations, it should be more fun with GSR's torquey 6000 rpm than R6's equally torquey 10000 rpm everytime. Also, overtaking cars with a stronger low-midrange torque is easier without always down-gearing first.

Well, all's just my speculations. May not be true until I ride one. The GSR's a good example 'coz when I sat on it in the showroom, it felt terribly big, heavy & clunky, that is, until my fren lend me his & it felt so light, sporty and agile. Cars are easy, just go showroom test drive. Simple. Bikes ... well, hopefully some kind souls can help out in this kinda 1 in 10 yrs decision. FYI, my ex-Bandit lasted me almost 12 years before a damn taxi wracked it. Basically I wanna b sure of making d right choice.

I'm interested to buy. Juz dunno R6, GSR or perhaps somethin else I'm not aware yet. If I get a test ride b4 tis Sat, I can confirm. If not, then hopefully within 2 weeks, but surely lastest by end June. Say, if I just go down to get a quotation tis Sat without committing, can I stil come along? If so, where? What time? Thanks. :D

Thanks for the suggestion. Though out of biking for half a year, and not sure if can handle 1000 (like they always say 1000 too powerful, no fun e.g. R1 use 1st gear can travel round SG liao), am now reading up on the Gixxer. Test drove a bro's 06R6, luv it, but lack low-down torque. Dun like K6 600 & 750 design, but enjoyed GSR 6. If can get ride from a 1K owner, then can know better. :thumb: Fact remains, one can read and research all you want, but nothing beats an actual test ride.

i guess it also boils down to wat u want to do with the bike.. normal rd riding, touring, track.. etc?

one bike is rather impossible to meet all expectations... hmm.. how to compare an 06r6 vs a gsr600? To me, it seems like both are built for different purpose..

good luck in your search for a bike... i personally feel that you shouldnt have much problem handling the 1000cc bikes on the road with your love for torques..

Hey 06R6 Guys,

Do you find the torque lacking when riding in the slow local traffic?

Does it seem that its takes lots of revving to get of the traffic lights briskly?

Is there lots of clutch-slippage to get off from standstill?

Do you feel there's not enough torque low-down in the rpm range to ride within speed limits?

Do you feel that 06R6 has little torque down low that in SG's slow and start-stop traffic nature, its frustrating?

Are you sick of having to keep revving very high in low gears in order to get it going due to lack of low-end torque for local riding?

This is 'coz I heard 06R6 is a great track bike but a lousy local road bike.

Thanks.

my personal experience..

1. Do you find the torque lacking when riding in the slow local traffic?

used to ride r1 n VFR800 alternate weeks. V4 being torquey from 3k, n R1 being 1000cc, the R6 feels shitty. But after riding for a while (4mths), its pretty ok for SG traffic actually. No probs with over-taking. at most drop 1 gear if i am in 6.

2. Does it seem that its takes lots of revving to get of the traffic lights briskly?

no, not a lot unless I am really late for an appointment..

3. Is there lots of clutch-slippage to get off from standstill?

Nope.... not much clutch slippage. except the 1.5~2k range on moving off can feel uneasy vibration. Other then that... no issues.

4. Do you feel there's not enough torque low-down in the rpm range to ride within speed limits?

nope... unless u want to compare with a 1lit or V eng bikes.

5. Do you feel that 06R6 has little torque down low that in SG's slow and start-stop traffic nature, its frustrating?

nope... same ans as the above. Actually a 1 litre bike which seems so effortless kinda bores meh. I never enjoyed mersing trips on the R1. The R6 is really much more fun as it take s a bit much practise to use the bike well... so i am still learning... corners always kanah chieh still.. ..

6. This is 'coz I heard 06R6 is a great track bike but a lousy local road bike.

Great track bike i agree... lousy local road bike? I think it is enough for SG roads. Think the only issue that might matter is the heat if your always on start stop... think frying egg might be easy..

By the way, the 06R6 pulls equally n slightly faster than the new 750 also. Just foudn out last week day ride n just now night ride. 3,4,5 & 6 gear all pull faster.. but only when you are in the power band.... :cheer: :cheer:

Ride hard & safe...

Thanks, HamsterZ for that detailed analysis. :thumb: Lucky me got a bro to lend me test ride his 06R6. Superb handling, weak low-rpm torque but blue color damn chio! :thumb: Its hard work on tis bike compared to the relax GSR6. Ultra-hot frame burnt my knee. All the young men looking for some revving and gear-changing action will LOVE tis bike, but d middle age man here found it a little too hectic. Think Yamaha should produce a similarly designed R6 for 07, one for the road, the other, track. Motor Cyclist magazine figures has shown R6 marginally slower than 750 K6 in 0-60mph, 1/4-mile and top-gear roll-on, but R6's handling, suspension, cornering, slipper clutch & fly-by-wire throttle is No. 1!

K, now drawing up plans to rob bank liao ... hurhurhur :cheeky: :cheeky: :cheeky:

Ducati RRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ..... here I come! :cheeky: :cheeky: :cheeky:
